Very interesting. The guide was very good but he walked too fast for some of the group and hard to find.

We did not like this port. There is nothing to do in Zeebrugge and most people would go to Brugge.

Arranged a transfer from the port to Bruges on with Viator. They were not very organized and the entire process took much to much time (cheap price though). Bruges is a magical town and though it was cold, we enjoyed our visit thoroughly. Negotiated a cab ride from the Market Suqare back to the ship. Best decision of the day. Read Less

You can a busservice for 20 euros return ticket. That is more than the public transportation by tram and bus, but saves a lot of hassle. The bus drops you of at a bus parking lot, where a lot of other busses are parked as well. So look at for your own bus. It may be parked somewhere else than when you arrived. The distance from the parking lot to the city may be too much for disabled people. Especially as you are then in the middle of the mass tourism. Just continue to the market square and then continue to the canals. You will be there just with few people, and you can appreciate the charm of this beautiful quiet city. Do not forget to pay a visit to the Groeningenmuseum, which has some very famous Flemish masters. Worth the detour. Read Less

We took the free cruise bus to the station and got a €5 return cruise special train ticket to Bruges. There’s nothing not to like about this beautiful city.

Now that taxis are prohibited from entering the port and ship-side it makes it much less attractive to visit in your own time.

Zeebrugge is a horrid industrial port where you get a free shuttle to the port gates. Ours was driven by a miserable old sod who wouldn't get out and help wheelchair passengers. I had to put the ramp up and down myself. The security girl at the port gate was embarrassed by him. Brugge trips aren't suitable for the infirm. You can get the tram to Blankenburg where the shops all shut for 90 minutes over lunch. The tram stop is, bizarrely, about 400m from the port gate. Not sure why that is as it seems to only be used by ship passengers. Read Less

There are available taxis and trains into centre. Trains were every hour and our taxi cost us 55 euros each way. Being with elderly people it was easiest way. About a 15 minute journey to Bruges. Bruges itself is lovely.

We had been a few times before to Zeebrugge and weren’t that fussed about Bruges, war cemeteries again and thought we might stay onboard but as a lovely sunny day we took free shuttle bus to port building where you buy tram ticket to Blankenberg 6 Euro each for day pass. We got off a couple of stops before the centre of town and walked through the sand dunes and along a gorgeous beach, along the prom, to the marina and mooched. Plenty of places for a coffee/beer and bought some chocolates goodies. If you have young children the beach and the various facilities on seafront make for a lovely family day near to ship. Read Less
