Shared a taxi with a couple we met on Cruise Critic and spend the day on our own in this beautiful city. Did a canal tour and a bus tour - glad we did both; as there are some things that you can't see from one or the other. Husband also took horse drawn carriage ride; while I consumed fantastic mussels & frites at a café on the center square by the clock tower. Of course, we bought chocolates - OMG!!! Perfect day!! The ship was docked about 40 minutes away, so getting to the town center involved a combination of the ship shuttle and a local bus ride. Glad we made the effort, though. Read Less

We took a taxi to center of Bruges and enjoyed taking a canal cruise and walking around this charming town. We visited the Church of our Lady and saw Michelangelo's Madonna and Child. Enjoyed a lovely lunch at an outdoor restaurant across from the Belfry in town square. Highly recommend getting a waffle from Chez Albert and buying chocolates from Dumon Chocolatier. Read Less

Lovely experience, but do expect to walk a lot, even if you are only taking the shuttle into Bruges, buses can only drop off outside the main part of town.

We didn't visit Brugge on this occasion but instead went to Blankenburge instead, which was a very nice seaside town, worth a visit if you have been to Brugge and want to experience somewhere different

Lots of ways to get around independently once you exit the port. Buses to Brugge, tram to Blankenburg (easy train service from here to Brugge) and beyond.

Zeebrugge - Again, we're simple people (who LOVE to walk) so we literally just walked to the pier and found a lovely boutique shop, where I got a gorgeous scarf for my mother... and then we met a cafe owner who used to work on the ship!! She married another crew member and they settled down, had a child, and opened up a cafe in Zeebrugge near the pier! They specialize in Filipino food since she is from the Philippines and I believe he is from Denmark (or the UK?)... lovely family! While we were getting something to drink at their shop to support their new business, we met our favorite MSC bartender on break there too! So hanging out with locals and ship crew actually was a really good way to learn about the port and get an insight on how others live. Read Less

Took the shuttle into the town for 20 euros and enjoyed a full days in Brugge. Only problem was getting back to the shuttle; we got lost! I think we should have been given better directions on how to return to the shuttle.

Went on our own buy taking a taxi from port to Bruges. Even made arrangements for him to pick us up and take us back to ship. A lot cheaper than the excursions and we enjoyed ourselves at our leisure. Even took a canal ride.

We loved Brugge , travelled there using a cruise excursion shuttle at reasonable price from Viator , this can also be booked on the day , just come out of the port gate and turn right , it’s just down the road .
