This was my fifth cruise and the oldest and smallest ship I’ve been on. It was an excellent experience. The Dawn is still very well-maintained and didn’t feel dirty or old in the slightest.

We reportedly had 1400 passengers onboard, so 60% capacity.

The ship felt fully staffed and there were never long line-ups. Where it felt busy was when they closed the main dining rooms for lunch *and* only opened half the Garden Café – that’s when it felt crowded and it was hard to find a table.

Port Reviews

Amsterdam

Very accessible from Central Station but the check-in process was terrible. I'm not sure if this was due to Amsterdam's authorities or Norwegian.

Brugge (Bruges)

The port town (Zeebrugge) was not expecting us. They only had 2 diners open, no public restrooms, and a chocolate factory with just one young lady working. There is nothing to see or do in Zeebrugge and the signage is not clear on how to get to Brussels or Brugge.

Liverpool

Exceptionally clean and walkable into town

Kirkwall

Very friendly and welcoming community. They thanked us sincerely for coming. There was a free shuttle into the town centre and they have everything you need and want.
