Executive Summary. (If you are not an executive, skip this paragraph.) The itinerary was "In Search of the Northern Lights." We saw the Lights four times over three nights, so in a sense this was a successful cruise. However, although Viking does many things well, they failed in one very important component - they did not meet the expectations of my taste buds! The menus were good, but the ...
Embarkation:
Apparently there was an issue with the gangway preventing the passengers departing from the previous cruise so we were kept waiting until gone 12 o'clock before anyone could board.
Quite efficient otherwise. They collected our luggage from the waiting area rather than outside due to the issues from the last cruise.
Cabins:
We had 2 cabins. I had a Superior ocean view. ...
Cruise with my mum and cousin in their 80's
Mum is a seasoned Saga customer and I can see the things she values in them as it's not all bad but its more Premier Inn than a luxury boutique hotel experience
The pick up was great and check in/boarding smooth
The cabins are nice and well maintained - housekeeping excellent
Food is decent too but the F&B service is mixed. English is ...
Norway Fjords
Cabin
Cabin with picture window was a decent size, bed comfortable, shower room okay and plenty of clothes storage. The bed had ‘terry flannelette sheets which in June was very, very, hot. Never been anywhere with this type of sheet before! The window however which we paid an upgraded price for was caked with mud so you could not see much out of it. Hair dryer not working and ...
We have sail on 3 Viking rivers cruises and wanted to try their ocean cruises. We chose their Chasing Northern Lights sailing on the Viking Venus. First of all, we had the opportunity to see the lights 4 times. They are amazing. However, the cruise line has no control over sightings.
The ship was delayed for 2 days because of bad weather. True to Vikings reputation, they made the best of a bad ...
We appreciate you sharing your experience, Btown19, although we regret to hear of the events you've described here. We’ve taken note of your feedback and while we understand you have already...
Returned home 2 days ago from a cruise around the Norwegian Fjords and have let the dust settle before writing this review.
Parking & Embarkation:
Parking needs to be booked prior to arrival and is easy to find but at £80 for 7 days it aint cheap!!
TIP: We heard that the local Asda which is only a mile away will let you park there for half the price.
Before parking you drop your ...
Been with Cruise and Maritime a couple of times and thought they were good. Tilbury and no flight a big bonus. Parking easy but embarkation a disappointment. Promised "priority" boarding and luggage because we were in a De-luxe suite, but experience exactly the same as everybody else's which, to be fair wasn't bad but wasn't what we'd been promised, or paid for. That was actually the theme of the ...
We chose this cruise because of the unusual places on the itinerary. Unfortunately we were disappointed the moment we got on board as the ship was very hot. Reception just kept saying to passengers that as soon as the ship sails it would get cool! This is nonsense because we've been on board other ships for hours before sailing off and it's been lovely and cool as the air-conditioning was ...
This cruise was for my heritage which included Ireland and Scotland. The ship was excellent as was the crew. Food on board very good but trying to get into select restaurants impossible, especially when asking for a table for two because of Covid exposure from other passengers.
Excursions we were able to select very good and guides excellent. Frustrations are selecting tours that are “sold ...
It was a "Bucket List" item....wanted to see the British Isles and this specific cruise with Viking Ocean Cruises met our want list. Lots of stops in England, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Norway.
The good: No one under 18 years old allowed on Viking Cruises. Very quiet ship, no loud people or parties. Great staff and service. The staff learned our meal and drink ...
