Embarkation good, welcome snack
Cabin comfortable and good window onto Deck 5
Need to be a GOOD sailor, 12 metre waves and constant rolling was quite challenging for some!
Shower room clean, shampoo etc rather too high for little folk!
Ship spacious and interesting, deck7 lovely for views when the weather permitted
We would have appreciated an afternoon cake/cookie with our cup of ...
I sailed on this ship on 11th October but only for four nights between Bergen and Tromso. Booking was the first challenge. Although the Nordlys is part of the Hurtigruten group and used by local people in Norway to travel between small ports up and down the coast, in the UK the website seems intent on only allowing you to book an 11 night sailing (Bergen to North Cape and return). I had to phone ...
We chose this trip as an opportunity to see some Norwegian fjords and to go to North Cape. Starting in Bergen gave the opportunity to arrive by the Oslo Bergen train and leave with a rental car. Embarkation was easy. We had a cabin with en-suite on deck 6, one of only three on our small section of the companionway so no outside noise. The cabins are compact but lots of room under the double bed ...
We went to try and see the northern lights which luckily for us did make an appearance on at least 2 nights of our trip. Embarkation and disembarking work really well especially embarkation. The expedition team on board were fantastic. Bjørn, Robin and Caterina worked well together and Caterina is very knowledgeable, the Norwegian way times were informative interesting and amusing with Bjørn and ...
We wanted to book a Norwegian cruise on a smallish ship and to be able to sail into small ports and fijords also to see the northern lights. We achieved all of this on the Nordylis. However listening to some passengers who had been on other larger ships, if you are looking for pure luxury and entertainment then this is definitely not the cruise for you. Also you have to remember that this is a ...
we wanted to see the northern lights unfortunately we didnt get to see them except for a tiny wisp which really didnt live up to expectations , very dissapointed we didnt receive free cruise as the tiny spotting by the captain negated it.. the cruise its self was wonderful.the cleaning stuff very efficient and respectful. no tea or coffee facilities in room but you are able to take a travel ...
Always wanted to do this trip. Slightly disappointed with the ship and cabin as used to cruise ships. Wasn't expecting that level of luxury obviously but still disappointed. Cabin spartan and very small. Ridiculous amount of space to get around the bottom of the bed. Not enough tea\milk etc. Got fed up with asking for more. Food lovely. If you don't like the dinner menu you can change it. ...
Once we made the south bounded tour from Kirkenes to Bergen, in summer. Now we wanted to make the north tour in winter especially because of the polar light, but also to see the coast in winter, e.g North pole.
Of course we made a sight seeing trip throuh Bergen, although it was raining.
The embarkation and disembarkation was smooth, and without hectic. In both situations the luggage was ...
I choosed this Ship because I wanted to see a great deal of Norway in a relative short amount of time. The voyage went from Tromsø to Bergen. The Scenery was very beautiful and nice same with the weather.
Ship:
- very nice interior
- smooth embarkation and disembarkation only your Cruise card is needed to scan
- sometimes you can smell the motor output but it isn't very bad
- very ...
I have often thought about a Norwegian cruise, how pretty it would be. Friends went in September and I was completely smitten by their photographs and their experience. I perused Hurtigruten's web site and booked a date covering both Christmas and New Year, and a class of cabin in my price range. I was not disappointed in my choice. The service on board was excellent from all members of staff. ...
