North Sea on Ovation

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Seabourn Ovation

New ship is lovely but larger size is a mistake. Addition of Thomas Keller restaurant and 150 additional passengers was a major error. Added square footage was in the wrong place and they could not seat everyone in the main dining room! The Thomas Keller was one of the worst restaurants at sea i have experienced. Decor was lovely but the food has been better at Denny's. The additional 150 ...

We are many time Silversea cruisers. This is the largest ship we have sailed with. It is not as intimate as the smaller vessels in the fleet. The staff was very nice, but on the smaller ships, they know your name and you cannot get out of a buffet without someone offering to carry your plate to the table. It is hard I expect to keep up with 600 passengers vs. 350. Food for the most part was ...

Third time’s NOT the charm

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Silver Spirit

This was my third and unfortunately last time on the Spirit , Muse or any Silversea ship , that does no longer have a regular restaurant, with nightly changing menus. The stretch and “musification“ of the ship did not please me in quite a few aspects, mainly concerning the restaurant situation on board. I ran out of dining options on day 3 of the cruise. The ship itself is beautiful on the ...

Interesting itinerary, not quite a fit for us

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Silver Spirit

The cruise should have been fabulous: 10 days to areas of Denmark, Sweden, and Finland rarely visited by cruise ships, with expected weather a relief from the heat of a New Jersey summer. Instead, the cruise started off badly, with problems regarding food service and an excursion, and never quite recovered. Stateroom Let's start with the best part of the cruise: our room and its ...

With a desire for an upmarket ship, which spent 3 days in St Petersburg, my husband and I chose the brand new Seabourn Ovation. At the time of booking, it had not yet hit the water. This 7 day cruise from Copenhagen to Stockholm, also had a day in Tallin ,Estonia and a half day in Helsinki, Finland, with one day at sea.Embarkation was easy at 2 pm, with a delicious buffet lunch waiting..We had a ...

Prefer luxury cruises that are all inclusive.... but...this was a partial inclusive as shore excursions were not included and this ship and the service were not on par with our cruises on Regent Seven Seas. The embarkation started off very well and the champagne greeting was lovely. Dinner however began the downhill slope. The maitre' d appeared annoyed. The wait staff were impatient and not ...

Good Itinerary, Not 5 Star

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Marina

I travel the world, but am new to luxury cruise market. We chose Marina based on itinerary, the size and the food. We didn't want too big, but not too small. It fit the bill. This was a rare cruise that stays in St. Petersburg for 3 days. We were fairly satisfied with the cruise, but there were elements that prevent me from calling it 5 star. Therefore, I doubt that I will cruise Oceania ...

An over hyped old ship

We chose this ship after very good experiences on Vantage Travel Cruises. The ship was represented as launched in 2012 with Marble bathrooms, minibars, individual thermostats, five star dining and the like. We chose it for its Baltic Destinations. From the start, the ship failed to meet pur experience tations. The cabin was in its original 1992 state, it’s actual launch date, all steel ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Nautica

It was a last minute deal for us and had a an itinerary that ticked quite a few boxes. The itinerary was great, Baltic, followed by around the UK. We had sailed the Regatta so expected the same on the Nautica and hoped their cuisine had expanded to include simple, tasty dishes. The meals were far too rich for us and service was very spasmodic. Getting a simple meal was almost impossible. We ...

Average cruise...not special

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Azamara Journey

User Avatar

Unfortunately this cruise did not meet my expectations. The food was average....no noteworthy meals. The service was good but the customer service staff and excursion staff was poor and lacking personality. Frankly, I wish I could get my money back and spend more for a better experience. 3 stars. Everything was adequate - neither more or less. For the money, I was hoping for more. I do not ...
