Prefer luxury cruises that are all inclusive.... but...this was a partial inclusive as shore excursions were not included and this ship and the service were not on par with our cruises on Regent Seven Seas.
The embarkation started off very well and the champagne greeting was lovely. Dinner however began the downhill slope. The maitre' d appeared annoyed. The wait staff were impatient and not particularly interested in being friendly or chatty with the guests. The food was fine but not spectacular. Complimentary wine was very nice.
Our room, although on the lowest level, was very nice other than the worn out look of the hallway leading to our door. Otherwise no complaints on room.
Shore excursions were pricey and no super informative...but, honestly not much to do in these small, cute, quaint Norwegian towns. Our first excursion was on the Rama Railway which began very poorly as our group did not seem to have seats on the train and ended up being shuffled around carriages by a surly train conductor. Communication was poor considering that we were not to stay on the train to the final stop but since our group ended up split apart on separate carriages it was amazing we didn't lose folk!
The language barrier was an issue everywhere. The excursions, the wait staff, and the bar staff (who had no idea what a 'blended' margarita was or what 'extra olives' in a martini meant ). Conclusion... this will be our last Silversea cruise.
