I heard that Solstice was a nice ship and as it was our 52nd wedding anniversary I thought it would be a great way to celebrate. Couldn't fault the service and food and Errol in the Ensemble Lounge was fantastic. We had the best cocktails we've tasted in a long time. Sorry that he is retiring as he was a great asset and will be missed. The Captain kept us very entertained.
Would have liked ...
We had done the same cruise in 2013 and a Reflection in the Mediterranean in 2014 and as both were super I booked Solstice again. As our agent knew our preferences I stayed with her and the process was stress free.
Starting with the negative aspects so I can finish with a plus. Some of the daytime talks were just about selling their products. One on looking more youthful as we age was actually ...
We chose this cruise from Sydney to New Zealand because we were meeting up with two Australian friends and wanted to visit New Zealand a different way. It was our first cruise on such a large ship and we were pleasantly surprised how comfortable it was and that we were always able to find somewhere peaceful to sit and just enjoy ourselves.
In the Ocean View Restaurant you were spoilt for ...
We have been cruising with Celebrity since 1999. We had just done a last minute cruise onOceania Insignia and were concerned that that would diminish our enjoyment of Solstice.
Fortunately, that was not the case. Everything just seemed to click on this cruise.
We had a wonderful pre- cruise stay which our children arranged for us at the Park Hyatt.
An added bonus was seeing the Solstice ...
Overall
This was our second Celebrity cruise. We normally sail on smaller ships and were somewhat apprehensive about being on a large ship. Overall the experience was extremely good. The factor that made a major difference was booking a Celebrity Suite which afforded additional perks such as, butler service, Michael’s Club and the Luminae restaurant. We also had the “Go Best” package that ...
This was our 14th cruise and our second with Celebrity. We chose this cruise because of the timing and the cruise line. We were on the Infinity last year for a cruise from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires and loved the clientele and the staff.
We arrived Sydney several days early and stayed in Potts Point at Hotel Challis, a wonderful small boutique hotel that we highly recommend. Embarkation was ...
Great trip to New Zealand on the Solstice. Found this to be a lovely ship with a great atmosphere. Cabin and food facilities were of a high standard and we had anytime dining but were in the same area every night and it was really nice to get to know the 3 people serving us all the time and hear of their family life. The little food section at the inside pool with its healthy options was ...
Boarded the solstice in Sydney and 1st impressions of the ship were excellent. Had a glass of champagne as we boarded then took a walk around the ship trying to familiarise where most venues were.
We then walked up the top of the ship and checked out the beautiful lawn club area. Checked out the sunset and oceanview bars and had a couple of drinks before having lunch in the oceanview cafe. The ...
1:My daughter had paid for a sail away gift of Champagne with a cheese and fruit platter to be deliver to the room before sailing. when we got on the ship there was a bottle of non alcoholic wine in the room with a card say it was a gift and what it was supposed to be, thee was non glasses or wine bucket. When I spoke to the cabin steward he said that room service didn't start until 6pm and he ...
Great food in the Grand Epernay Restaurant and great staff. Organised activities were great.
I would have rated this cruise five star if it wasnt for the high pressure selling as soon as you were onboard, photo packages, alcohol packages and internet, dud art auctions and overpriced bingo to name a few. However it is good that most tipping is now included in the fare for ships operating out of ...
