Ship needs a lot of work - lower your expectations

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Star Clipper

This was my fourth and probably last star clipper cruise. The clipper was recently placed back in service after a 2 year dry dock - where it seems it just sat with no real improvements. Decking was in horrible shape after 2 years of no use - some of which had broken materials and had to be taped off. Plumbing in our cabin didn’t work and needed to be fixed ( never really worked well but it did ...

This is MY REVIEW Flight were scheduled by Star Clippers travel. My 12:30AM departure flight was cancelled when I arrived at the airport 2 hours early so I was without sleep for over 24 hours! Why didn't they send me day before and do overnight and fly next day to Barbados?? There was no way to speak to the person who does the booking. When I finally arrived around 10PM at night (the ...

We picked this cruise because we are loyal repeat customers, but no longer. It was such a disappointment. The crew were rude and room had no air conditioning. The staff did nothing to help us, the higher up we went with our concerns the worse we were treated. We finally had to get wifi off ship and have the main company help us with the issues. It was so stressful. Many others aboard had ...

A cruise to forget

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Star Flyer

We booked this cruise as we wished to see some of the smaller islands in the BVI's and other neighbouring islands. We booked a cabin on the deck as is it the only accommodation that offers a double bed where you do not have to climb over one another to get in and out of bed. The space was restrictive but the bathroom was a good size. We were kept awake every night by the electric sail motors and ...

Did not sail, did not stop at ports, captive on ship 6 days

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Star Flyer

there was no communication between crew and passengers and because of this rumors were flying every day. We were told nothing and crew was mean. We did not stop at any ports because of bad weather but we should have been compensated in some way. We got free drinks one evening. The captain did not answer any questions. There was absolutely nothing to do onboard for those 5 days at sea. It ...

Failed to deliver most of the itinerary

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Star Flyer

This is a very hard one to score. The vessel is a sailing cruise ship (barquentine) which takes a maximum of 170 guests. It is extremely well-appointed and the crew are enthusiastic and attentive. We would particularly comment on the outstanding food which was served throughout our 7-day cruise. So far, it rates 5 stars. The problem was that it failed to deliver us to several of the ...

A dismal waste of time and a lot of money

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Star Flyer

We crafted our whole 5 week holiday from Australia around this cruise. It all sounded so fabulous that we were prepared to make significant concessions with our other travel arrangements to work with the cruise dates. Unfortunately, the ship only stopped at one port in 7 days and that was only for a few hours. For a cruise that is billed as a cruise of Cuba it's ironic to say that this stop ...

This was my first cruise on a Star Clipper, and this was an adventure! We were on the 2nd cruise from Cuba, and there were many many teething problems. The transfers from Havana had been arranged by the land agents of Star Clipper, and many arrived 2 hrs prior to boarding - but very limited facilities. Happily arrangements were made to board passengers 1 hr early The itinerary had not been ...

We were so excited for this trip on Star Clipper. What an adventure it was going to be. Well a disappointment it turned out to be. The ship and the sailing experience was really amazing and that is where the positive stops.... staff does not make any effort to make the experience special in any way. The Cruise director ridicules and belittles passengers in front of everyone. The staff bicker and ...

Royal Cipper - Be Aware and Beware

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Royal Clipper

User Avatar

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

Our expectations were high as we left our comfortable Barbados hotel after four nights to join the Royal Clipper. We should have stayed in Barbados. Something seemed odd that we could only board a ship which had docked at 7am after 4pm, but of course that relieved the cruise line of serving lunch. We then had to fill out a health form and have our temperature taken, a perfectly reasonable request. ...
