Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Norwegian Star

Where do start, internet, none existent, menu never changed for 12 days, food cold and tasteless, since when do you make chilli with cannelloni beans. Took the ship over 24 hours to cover about 200 miles and I know that’s why it is called cruising but we could have all day in Tromso instead of docking at 7 at night and having to leave at 3 in the morning for the airport, why, because the company ...

A disaster of a cruise

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

My wife and I chose this cruise because we wanted to visit Amsterdam, Norway and Iceland. We were primed to go to Amsterdam, Norway and Iceland (the latter two for the first time). We are in our late 70's and this was perhaps our last chance to do this. We understand the elimination of the relevant ports doe safety reasons due to a hurricane. We do not understand why the port of La Havre was ...

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Lofoten

Classic ship on iconic route - what could be better? A lot, as it turns out: The route does not offer much fjord experience, mostly you trundle coast-wise behind the outlying islands. Most places the time in port is too short for sightseeing. Once in open seas, this little ships rocks. And rolls. Keep your seasickness pills handy. The company has a museum at its place of origin. Don't expect to ...

Classic Voyage Bergen-Bergen

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Lofoten

The MS Lofoten crew were brilliantly friendly and helpful and several passengers were so fond of the ship and crew that they were on a repeat voyage. Unfortunately, I was not to become so endeared to the ship. MS Lofoten is a 55 year old Ferry. It was designed as a Ferry. It was built as a Ferry. It is operated as a Ferry. Many people (and cargo) use it as a Ferry. It is not a “cruise” ship. ...

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

Having cruised with Celebrity many times we are Captains Club Elite members. We have always found them to be the best cruise line having cruised with Cunard, Royal Carribean, and P&O. The staff were unhelpful and sometimes rude. The perks we were entitled to were usually waiting inside your cabin for you, but this time you had to ask for them if you wanted them. Needless to say Celebrity obviously ...

My wife and I chose this cruise (Bergen to Kirkenes, Sept 2018) as there really isn't any other total Coastal cruise. It was suppose to be her dream cruise, as she is of Norwegian heritage. First, the best fjords are in the Bergen area, and do not require a Hurtigruten cruise. You can take a nice fjord day cruise (Sognefjord) as part of the Norway-in-a Nutshell (Oslo to Bergen, Flam train and ...

Chose the cruise on the recommendation of a travel agent (who I usually trust). Wanted to see the fjiords. The fjiords were a delight. However, once I entered the ship there is an onslought of people trying to sell you photos and all sorts of rubbish. This is uncalled for given that the cruise. We is paid for upfront. In addition, its a very tacky operation and you can hardly move with ...

Corporate Greed on Carnival hits

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Sapphire Princess

I’ve been on 13 cruises in the past four years and I’m hooked. Enjoyed Emerald Princess at Christmas three years ago (although apart from Crab Shack and Chefs Table the food was pretty poor). I was too busy to write a review however and eventually forgot. So summer 18 I decided to give Sapphire Princess a try: Room Good - super bed, good TV and good movies/ programmes. Awful smell from ...

Overpriced

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Nordlys

The travel timings were precise and everything went smoothly. However all the meals in the restaurant were lukewarm and often ran out without being replenished. The restaurant service was slow and the prices for the wine, beer etc were overpriced. The cheapest bottle of house wine was NOK 500. We priced in local supermarkets at NOK 124. Considering that Hurtigruten would purchase this at a ...
