"Cruise" dates: Apr 5, 2124 - Apr 13, 2024 Normandy to Paris, "Impressions of the Seine"
Ships: AmaLyra and AmaDante
Be aware that climate change is causing unusual extremes in the water levels of the Seine. Thus, we never got the "Scenic River Cruise" experience, instead being tied at anchor first in Le Havre then at Paris. All we got were bus rides ("Ama Busways"?). And we ...
Wonderful experience on Avalon Panorama for a Tulip Time cruise in Holland and Belgium. Wonderful crew, who said "of course" to every request, excellent food, nice vibe, and fellow passengers and a real treat all in all!
Our only complaint was their heavy reliance on the line's "app" which had all the daily details but the "app" was hard to use, had seemingly no instructions and caused a ...
We experienced a very disappointing 7-day roundtrip between Paris and Normandy "cruise." It wasn't a cruise at all. It was more like a stay on a houseboat that didn't move.
The Seine was at very high water levels and the ship could not leave Paris. Now the high water levels is certainly not the fault of AMA but the way they handled the situation was. We went through four captains, two cruise ...
Early misgivings over what to expect from recent reviews were dismissed as soon as we got to the Mayflower Cruise Terminal, boarding was seamless, from check in to a glass in hand was just 20 minutes, Our Deluxe Cabin starboard/aft was large with an extended non overlooked balcony. it was clean spacious with a lovely touch of Champagne and Chocolates, a welcome return of dressing gowns and ...
What an outstanding cruise! No complaints. The boat, crew, tours, food were second to none. Very clean room with all you need to be comfortable. The food was top notch and as I have specific food needs, they met them and I felt very safe eating. The food was plentiful and the Chef Suggestions were always local or regional dishes. Nice touch. Wine pairings were very good, too.
The crew ...
Despite cool damp weather the quality of the young boat and its staff was obvious.
Our cabin, port side, going down river kept its view when alongside.
The exterior and top deck are not well presented/decorated.
Tour guides/coaches were excellent (we enjoyed the inclusive tours).
Our cabin was most attractive, (with large shower cubicle) and so well serviced twice a day we left a tip ...
This was our first river cruise and we absolutely loved it. The ship was nice and small to navigate and the service was intimate. The cruise director was so knowledgable and friendly. The rooms were so clean and inviting. The entire ship was new and did not look run down for how old the ship was. Each meal was a 5 star meal and it was very delicious! Each destination was amazing and the ...
Our first river cruise was an enlightening experience. With two ocean cruises in our past, we were skeptical of the significant cost difference between a river and ocean cruise but soon realized you do get what you pay for. Far more intimate service, better food, and attentiveness on excursions. AmaWaterways is top notch and we couldn't say enough positive things about our cruise manager, ...
Vilking staff were so helpful kind and efficient. Really wonderful. Food was well presented and consistently good. Regional dishes/wine/beer are included when possible. Don’t forget to ask for regional -included wine or beer.. as it changes. Many meals include both menu ordering and buffet. They individually cared for those with dietary restrictions. Tip: (just ask) I forgot to order my salad ...
After a wonderful experience with Uniworld’s Burgundy and Provence cruise five years ago I was terribly disappointed in their performance this time around with the Classic Christmas Markets cruise. While I understand that inclement weather conditions are outside anyone’s control, Uniworld did a very poor job of contingency planning. We were provided information as to the status of our itinerary ...
