We wanted to see more of the United Kingdom and surrounding area. Each port was awesome. The excursions were well organized and we felt were reasonably priced. The ship's crew were friendly and professional. Our dining stewards always remembered us from meal to meal and often came to speak to us even if we were not seated at their table. We especially enjoyed Alfredo's, the no extra charge Italian restaurant. The food was outstanding and it was never crowded. The Beatles imitation band that performed in the Atrium the evening we left Liverpool was incredible. Everyone was dancing, swaying to the music and singing along on all levels of the atrium. People were standing on the stairways and balconies. We loved seeing the little girls dancing with their fathers and grandfathers. An incredible sense of community filled the entire space. The cruise director, Matt O made absolutely everything, even the simplest things, a time of fun. The only negative was the embarkation process. Instead of being directed to proceed to the counter as we arrived, passengers were given a number and told to be seated until their number was called. We've taken many cruises and have never experienced anything like this. Everyone who had cruised before were totally disoriented by this new procedure and the rudeness of the staff giving us directions didn't help any. Disembarkation went very smoothly. We were impressed that we had a refund and other credits due to us and Princess mailed us a check for the full amount with no hassle at all. We feel that Princess is the most transparent and honest in their financial dealings with passengers. Read Less

We choose this cruise for the excellent itinerary, quality of Princess food, cabins and amenities. I would rate this cruise excellent in all these categories. The passenger logistics in handling the movement of passengers on or off the ship and other required on-board activities, such as customs, were so bad that my wife and I will be very hesitant about taking any future Princess Cruise. At Guernsey the line-up for the return tender took over 2.5 hours while the one at South Queensferry was at least 1.5 hours (this probably caused by all shore excursion tour buses arriving at the same time shortly before the advertised time for the last tender). Given that many of the passengers were seniors, Princess should be much more considerate of their difficulties in standing in queues (at times in the sun) for such extended periods. Other than those dealing with passenger logistics, all crew members were extremely helpful and obviously very concerned about passenger satisfaction. It is a pity that all of this was overshadowed by the lack of passenger concern / satisfaction demonstrated by those managing passenger logistics. Maybe this comes with such a large ship - seasoned Princess passengers seemed to know to arrive at the designate meeting area at least 45 minutes ahead of the designated time to presumably be at the head of the queue. On that basis their total wait time may have been 30 minutes shorter than that endured by those that arrived at the designated location only 15 minutes early. The key question for my wife and I is: do the slightly superior cabin, food and ship amenities adequately compensate for the terrible passenger logistics or should we go back to Holland America where we have had excellent cruises with nominally lessor cabins and food. Most likely the itinerary will be the deciding factor. Read Less
