We went on a cruise to Hawaii last year with NCL Pride of America and loved it even though 1/3 of the restaurants and facilities were closed due to (Covid) staffing. We had a fantastic cruise and what was open was superb. I cannot say the same about NCL Spirit! Our cabin was ok but clearly not refurbished. The bathroom vanity was cracked with a jagged edge and sticking out, the trash receptacle ...
First time on Norwegian but a frequent cruiser. I've done 32 cruises across other brands, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Virgin, and Avalon for river cruising. The Spirit is an old ship, but completely gutted and refurbished in 2020 or 2022, depending on who you talk to. The public spaces and my room appeared fresh and the furnishings are in good condition.
I paid for the ship ...
Disorganized crew. Restaurant maitre'd and serving staff did not know the menus. Bar staff did not know basic cocktail terms (neat, up, dry, etc). Food in MDR and buffet looked good, tasted blah (knives in buffet were so dull every time that I could cut neither an Eggs Benedict English muffin nor a carved slice of roast beef). That said, both the food and the service in the specialty restaurants ...
We are excited to do an Alaskan cruise, and got balcony cabins so we could see the view and enjoy the outdoors. Balcony was approximately 2’ x 6’. Yes the chairs had to be turned sideways to fit on the balcony. The now only have one room make up a day no turn down service. The Buffet for breakfast was literally the same thing for seven days as was the lunch and dinner. The specialty restaurants we ...
Took this cruise to enjoy the sights of Alaska and travel to Hawaii, and it started good and rapidly went downhill on the Norwegian Spirit. Ship is old and smaller than others, therefore lacking in good activities and eating establishments. We purchased the Thermal Spa Package only to find, due to the age of the ship, not all of the amenities are present on this ship. Of those available the ...
The employees were great. The food was always cold and the same except in the upgrade restaurants. At one port there were no shuttles or buses and we were not told so if you couldn’t walk dir 30 min in 90 degree weather you didn’t go anywhere because the taxi line was LONG and over an hr wait Couldn’t get by the pool because people would get up early and grab towels to save chairs until they ...
Ship was great but It’s been really frustrating. Couldn’t book dinner and activities prior to cruise. Can’t get reservations onboard. Go karts completely booked the entire cruise, my kids can’t go. Only able to have dinner in main dining room twice on 5 night cruise. Missed port in Vancouver. Currently been in line for 1 hour 20 minutes to get off boat in San Francisco. Every time we call ...
Ship was extremely crowded, the size of the ship is not large enough for the number of cabins. Use the stairs the get around, elevators were always crowded and slow. Getting on and off the ship was very crowded, so be ready to wait in line Buffet food was at best sub standard, think of it as a notch below golden corral and was always crowded. At times we walked around searching for an open table ...
We have been on many cruises usually 2 or 3 a year and we looked forward to trying out NCL and their newest ship the Bliss. Right from the beginning it was frustrating. The drink packages are way over priced. $99 a Day is crazy compared to other cruise lines. Most of the Shore Excursions were way over priced. I rented a car for the day and drove all over San Francisco and Victoria. It was far ...
NCL staff and management have no clue how to travel with 4,000 passengers. We are still trying to decide if the ports just are not ready for the mega ships - or if NCL just doesn't care whether they get repeat customers.
Nothing about this cruise would make guests feel welcome. (1) NCL knew in advance that the docks were full on Sept 30th so embarkation would not begin until after 7pm. They ...
