This was a transatantic from rome to new york. i did this cruise last year on ncl epic and didn't much like it, but i've been on the gem and other gem class ships and you were never in doublt you were on a ship, no matter where you were. it looked like a cruise ship, smelt like a cruise ship everyone knew. the giant floating shopping centers don't appeal to me. i don't want to have to board ...

About the Reviewer: I’m a middle-aged American male who traveled solo on this, my 60th voyage. Over half of my sailings have been with NCL, however, I have sailed on other cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC and Carnival. This cruise was my first cruise as a Diamond Latitudes member with NCL. My reviews are written in chronological order of events as they took place on the ship. ...

We chose this transatlantic cruise because of its port intensive itinerary. The added attraction was that it was scheduled to only have 4 consecutive days at sea. We ended up having 6 days at sea because the ship was unable to dock in Ponta Delgado due to poor weather. Food in all venues was excellent. No complaints there. Ship ran out of tea within the first few days & coffee towards the ...

We chose this cruise because it was going to interesting places we hadn't seen before, and finishing in New York. Firstly we would mention that the ship was very nice, as was our room. On the whole, the food was very good, (on many occasions, could be hotter) and in most cases the staff were excellent. However in regard to organisation, It was a shambles! Half way through the cruise they ran out ...

Before I begin my review of the cruise, I want to say that we are Sapphire with NCL. That means that we have spent a few days cruising with NCL and have seen many changes over the past few years. We cruised 46-days with NCL in 2023 alone. If you think that this is leading up to a bad review then you would be correct. While there were many good things about this cruise, like some of the ...

Solo traveler...I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Partially blocked oceanview cabin was a delight...larger than cabins on newer ships. Stewards were awesome as were all staff. I was on Deck 8 midship...perfect location. Spent an overnight in Lisbon before embarkation...loved it. Lisbon is a beautiful hilly city that requires some stamina...but worth the effort. Embarkation was a breeze. Food was ...

An Average, Enjoyable Transatlantic Cruise

We chose this cruise as we wanted to experience a transatlantic crossing. This itinerary suited us as Portugal is a country we had not been to, and we wanted to visit New York again. We are Platinum Latitude members and after sailing on a few other cruise lines we prefer the NCL Freestyle experience and Speciality Dining options. We do not like the bigger ships and mainly choose a cruise based ...

1 -At the pier, we were directed to the wrong line to begin check-in (not a good omen). There were 6 stations, where each NCL person had a paper printout of 2,000 people to flip through to find our names (oh,boy). 2 - Room sounds as if the storm is inside. Steward explained, in a somewhat miffed tone, that we did not push the handle hard enough. DL cannot do this, Ken will need to help. We ...

Good cruise - Service and quality lacking in some areas

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

User Avatar

NCL has been the company of choice in the past due to it's freestyle policy and overall quality and after a patient wait following 3 cancelled cruises due to covid and the war in the Ukraine we were eager to sail again. Over this time costs have inevitably gone up as have the gratuities (more than 100% since our last cruise in 2017). Now we more or less expected this under the current climate but ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

This was our sixth transatlantic cruise, the second on the Getaway and our eighth overall on an NCL vessel. Our cruise and the Getaway were par-for-the-course meeting expectations. No surprises or unexpected disappointments...It's one of the big ships with all the competitive bells & whistles. The staterooms & bathrooms are clean, somewhat spacious, comfortable and practical. A shortage of ubs ...
