Something is not right

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

This was my 5th on QM2 over the last 10 years. I've travelled QG once, PG 3 times and Brittania once. This trip was PG. I'm a spa relaxer type cruiser. The spa, now run by Morell was, frankly, filthy. the hydrotherapy oil crusting in dirt all around the perimeter. The showers dirty, foot baths and ice maker inoperable, main steam room dirty and Finnish Sauna unlit. I was literally shocked. I ...

First time was a good time

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Silver Shadow

We chose this particular cruise because of the itinerary - the line was secondary but intriguing as we had never sailed on Silversea before. This was our first time cruising with the Silversea cruise line. It is the luxury side of the Royal Caribbean family of cruise lines. Prior to this we had one other encounter with another luxury cruise line - Regent - and for the most part Silversea ...

Falls short of the luxury it claims for the wrong reasons

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Insignia

The Oceania Insignia is well refurbished - tasteful and easy to get around on. She came back across the Atlantic through a tropical storm and our group of 8 people all felt safe. The ship was remarkably stable despite the 15 ft waves and 42 mph winds for 24 hours. Yes the cabin is smaller because its a smaller ship and the entertainment is not the same as big liners - however it is still good ...

Great ship disappointing excursions and poor response to dietary allergies

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

Chosen for its itinerary but the regent excursions were disappointing. Most were your buses with local people. Some really boring stuff and very touristy spots. Given this is east coast of canada I was astonished that there was nothing that showcased the stunning beauty of this coastline. No opportunity to see wildlife or see seabirds or whales. We organised two private tours. Regent found ...

QM2 Mixed review: Some deferred maintenance, poor food, but otherwise a delight

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Having recently completed a seven-day transatlantic voyage aboard the Queen Mary 2, our first Cunard experience post-pandemic pause and just after a couple of recent cruises on Holland America Line and Celebrity X, and we felt it useful to share a quick review. Our oceanic résumé is not devoid of experience with Cunard; we first sailed on the QE2 back in the early 1970s in tourist class and have ...

By way of background, we are mid-60s with 35 cruises in 10.5 years. Celebrity is our benchmark. We had seen so many Vlogs about a Transatlantic voyage on the QM2 that, when a significant saving opportunity came up, we jumped on it. We booked an entry level Queen’s Grill Suite (Q5) and started to budget for it. The itinerary was NYC round trip with Norway and France added. Online check in ...

We were in a sheltered balcony Britannia cabin and paid $3200 and received $300 shipboard credit for a seven day return trip to NYC from Southhampton

We took the QM2 from NYC to Southhampton and this was our return for which we did this review. First all potential passengers must accept that the July North Atlantic is subject to bad unpleasant weather. We could not go outside most days with limited visibility due to serious fog on other days. My wife was sea sick. If you are inclined to be sea sick fly across the ocean. We thought the ...

A Grill suite perspective

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Eastbound transatlantic. Princess Grill The embarkation at Brooklyn cruise terminal was pretty awful . We were stuck in a hot shed for an hour with one loo , one water dispenser , no information and not enough seats . (And that was for Grill guests). And our bage took an agonising and disgraceful 4 1/2 hrs to arrive . No Grill suite priority? The ship itself lives up to expectation. The ...

Crowded with average food but lovely staff.

This was a bucket list item and I don't regret it, but it didn't live up to the hype especially the food. Embarkartion was disorganised and we were confidently directed into the wrong waiting area. Our Queen's Grill cabin was fine (large enough and quiet with a large balcony) but the dining room was small, noisy and very crowded. The maitre d' was all smiles but unwilling to put himself out. ...

A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Viking Octantis

User Avatar

The expedition experience that Viking is selling with this ship is definitely different from the typical ocean cruise experience. There are about two dozen staff members who are assigned to bring the expedition experience to life. The ship shares many of the design elements of the ocean ships. The cabins are nice and feature a floor to ceiling window instead of a balcony. The room darkening shade ...
