We chose this cruise for the Christmas markets we would visit. As far as those locations and the associated excursions our expectations were exceeded. The locations were great with really no two experiences being the same. Spirit of the Rhine is nice small ship with only 180 or so passengers, mostly like minded and good company. We were nervous about the entertainment (after 65 ocean cruises) and I don't know if we were just lucky, but the local entertainers brought aboard were really excellent and the onboard Saga entertainers / cruise staff got other activities just about right. Maybe do some more quizzes though? ...

I wanted to see Vienna & Budapest, so I got that accomplished. Frankly, though, I think that I would've preferred to simply rent a car and drive to these places for a whole lot less money. A Viking river cruise is like a resort on water so a bit boring for active adults. I would suggest an included excursion in both the morning and afternoon.
