This was originally set for the Vietnam cruise in Feb 2020 which we decided to cancel due to COVID. Selected this cruise due to the destinations. Tour guides were hit or miss, with most being a miss. Extra cost for Vienna Opera house not worth it. Had small, short program in a side room, did not get to see any of the opera house other than when we entered and departed, very disappointed. Went ...
Having done quite a few ocean cruises this was our first ever experience of a river trip.
Initially Avalon made an absolute hash of our flights and eventually got us to the ship after midnight. As we missed that evening’s meal they did offer us some light refreshments in our cabin.
The cabin itself was excellent with panoramic windows and good facilities. It was quiet with no discernable ...
After a two year delay due to the pandemic, my partner and I finally were able to take our long anticipated River Cruise. Having taken past cruises on large ships, it was great to be on a smaller ship with about 120 folks. We arrived in Amsterdam two days before sailing and the Ama tour of the city was very good. The hotel where we stayed ( Barbizon Palace), was very nice and comfortable with very ...
First let me say, there are some things Viking does well and other things, as we've learned on this cruise, can be disappointing. This was a last minute deal that was too good to pass up although in hindsight, maybe we should have waited. Cruising during the summer in Europe is something we normally avoid and given all the airline problems, this would have been.a good year to not make an ...
The rating is linked to a specific ship but the 3-star rating includes the performance of pre-cruise customer service, Viking Air, MyVikingJourney.com and etc.
We had high expectation of this trip because Viking in the past always exceeded expectations. Viking's onboard crew continued to excel at the highest level, especially the wait staff in the restaurants. However, I did experience ...
I have always wanted to cruise on the US rivers, and I also wanted to experience the largest riverboat, as well as steam-powered, so the American Queen was my obvious choice. Eventually, I hope to cover all the US rivers that offer overnight cruises.
We flew in to St. Louis, and were lodged at the Hilton at the Ballpark, where we checked in, and completed a Covid test.
We toured St. Louis ...
The most cared for ship ever. Great food, fabulous tours and friendliest staff. A must to experience.
The ports were beautiful filled with activities, shopping and friendly people.
Transportation was readily available at all times if you wanted to do the loops. This made it very convenient for passengers that didn't go on tours.
It was very impressive to see how patient and helpful ...
Chose this cruise as we have not explored this area of southern France before.
The cabin proved to be adequate and was kept tidy & clean by hardworking housekeepers.
Food and drink were generally very good with a couple of excellent exceptions, proving what could be achieved with a bit more effort.
Staff were generally helpful and courteous, but there was always a feeling that full ...
We chose this cruise to the New England Islands because my wife has never been to New England. The pictures and description on ACL website were misleading. This was nowhere near a luxury cruise. The best place to begin is the Rennaissance Hotel the day before the cruise. Room was nice but not worth $500.00. Embarkation was easy and without incident. However, the cruise line changed the port ...
