Tired ship, terrible food, worse shows

Review for a Asia Cruise on Diamond Princess

Grantwall18
10+ Cruises • Age 40s

Old ship. Very little food choice and uninteresting. Absolute terrible shows. We were really disappointed with this cruise having expected much more according to the princess brochure. Very little food choices in the buffet. Had plastic tooth pick in the seafood salad and when complained they didn’t really do anything or truly care. The ship is starting to look old and tired. My bed sheets had ...

Once In A Lifetime Cruise

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

coastal vagabond
6-10 Cruises • Age 60s

This was our 6th cruise on NCL, but our first transpacific. We chose it because of its itinerary, its length, and that it ended as an Alaska cruise, which we have always talked about doing. This combination of Asia, Pacific, and Alaska was perfect for us. All the port stops in Japan were wonderful - Yokohama, Aomori, Hakodate and Otaru. The ship docked very close to town, and there was ...

Average food and mixed service

Review for a Asia Cruise on Diamond Princess

6-10 Cruises • Age 60s

We chose to take this cruise after a good cruise on Sun princess. unfortunately after selecting a Suite our expectations were not met. The suites are larger and come with some more benefits than club class or other staterooms but it was a great disappointment when it came to the dining options and quality. The speciality restaurants were mixed, with the Steak House coming as a great steak, and ...

Great cruise and itinerary

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Honeyblossom
6-10 Cruises • Age 70s

Cruised from Japan to Seattle, USA. The cruise ship was great, the staff very friendly, the food was good. We had an outside cabin with a large window. Included was the drinks package, special coffees (which could only be used in the restaurants or the Irish bar), and water, and gratuities. The itinerary was very good with stops in Japan, Russia and Alaska. Getting off the ship at our final ...

Vulcanology lecture in Russia was exceptional; scientist with very dry wit.

We certainly enjoyed the food in 'Le Bistro'. The trivia was very good. The itenery was why we chose to take our 1st Norwegian cruise. So much for the good. We bought an outside cabin, with an unobstructed window. That window was so dirty that details we inaccessible. We asked, I begged(!), them to clean the window. They actually told me that those windows only get cleaned during drydock! ...

Cruise on Ovation to Vietnam

Review for a Asia Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

I wanted to try cruising in Asia for a change and choose this cruise with Ovation of the Seas. I was on Quantum's maiden voyage in 2014, but hadn't been on the Quantum class since. It was nice to be back onboard. Ship in general: Ovation has a nice and familiar atmosphere onboard, although I do prefer the layout on the Oasis class ships comparing to this one. There are many fun activities ...

Inadequate service

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Delwood
10+ Cruises • Age 70s

We chose this cruise for the itinerary - visiting Japan and Alaska. This was our 11th cruise, all previous cruises with Royal Carribbean and Princess Cruises. The embarkation process in Yokohama took over 2 hours, we had previously experienced 30 minutes maximum on other cruises. The same applied to disembarking we were left mid way on the gangway for 40 minutes with no explanation. The ...

The cruise was overall quite good. I was very disappointed that we didn’t make our first stop which was Mt Fuji (Simuzi). It was a key stop for us. The additional stops were interesting, especially as we got to Alaska. The Glaciers and the beauty of Alaska is absolutely spectacular. Booking a massage on the cruise was easy and the massage was wonderful. However, the high pressure sales ...

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We spent the “ Golden Week “ in Yokohama while the NCL Jewel hosted a private charter. We enjoyed Fruhlings Fest, and the Port festivals and activities while there. We explored and experience the world famous quality from Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Toshiba, Canon, Sony, Panasonic. Japan taught the world " just-in-time " manufacturing, and that organizations ...

Nice huge ship

Review for a Asia Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

tangoeco88
First Time Cruiser • Age 50s

Embarkation took about 40 to 60 minutes. Had trouble initially on how the embarkation process starts. There were no signs on what to do. Bag drops in the middle of the hallway. Line was long but moving. The actual check in process was fast. 5 to 10 minutes. First time cruise with my wife on Ovation of the Seas May 6 to 11 Hong Kong to Vietnam back to HK. The ship is huge. Its only 2 years old ...
