We went in search of the Northern Lights, which we saw briefly, but discovered so many magical worlds. Before embarking on a Northern Lights cruise you need to understand the reality of searching for the Northern Lights (it’s not like social media would lead you to believe) and adjust your expectations. Still, the hunt is exciting and completely worth it. You’d be hard pressed to do better than ...
REVIEW FOR VIKING VENUS THROUGH CRUISE CRITIC
This is our fifth journey with VIKING CRUISES, but this is our first time to try an Ocean cruise. My husband and I sailed the Bordeaux wine river cruise in 2017 with friends, the Danube and Rhine Christmas market river cruises in 2019 and 2021 to celebrate my birthday, the Lyon and Provence river cruise with friends in 2022. We thought River ...
Swan Hellenic’s Arctic Expedition Sep-Oct 2023
My wife and I decided to do something different with cruising so we booked an Arctic Expedition on Swan Hellenic’s ship Vega. A smaller size new ship accommodating only 152 guests.
This was a 16 day cruise along the Western coast of Greenland, crossing the Labrador Sea to Newfoundland/Labrador and ending up in Halifax. It checked off several ...
We had been looking at Greenland trips, and when this one popped up with a great discount, we jumped on it. We were not disappointed in anything. The crew was amazing, the food was excellent, and the size of the ship was perfect for this type of trip. I believe the ship held up to 150 passengers, but there were only 39 signed up with 101 crew and 5 expedition leaders. The rooms were great and it ...
The original inspiration for such a cruise was the itinerary, and to be honest, dealing with the Company beforehand was a little frustrating, but the cruise itself exceeded all our expectations. Every little detail was well planned by a very organized expedition and ship's crew and changes due to weather etc were executed brilliantly and expeditiously. The food and service was absolutely top ...
This last minute cruise was presented to us by a travel agent and the price was right for us so we jumped on it. Impartial information on the company was hard to find and some requests for info from the company were not as smooth as expected, but we eventually came around and felt comfortable enough to take a chance on them. It turned out to be a very good cruise.
Pros:
- Nearly everything ...
Onboard Prima now and with 2 days to go we thought we'd post a review. There are so many positives for this review but i will try and keep it short and sweet.
We have enjoyed the itinerary although we missed Belfast due to the weather. We have seen the Northern Lights, dolphins and whales from the ship so have been very lucky.
The ship is beautiful and the layout is fantastic, the service ...
The housekeeping staff were awesome. Arvin and Gene were very helpful and always friendly and had a smile. Greeted me by name each time they saw me. The assistant cruise director and Harry were there to play baggo. The wait staff were very friendly and very very good job. The one area I had problems with the cruise was when we signed up for excursions most and the best were already booked. ...
We travelled before with Quark Expeditions and it was fantastic (to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica). This time (september 2023) we wanted to visit Greenland and the Canadian high Artic. The choice for Quark was easy because of our experience on the other trip and it was again excellent! Everything was fantastic, the room, staff, food (buffet lunch, a la carte diner with great wine), ...
I am perplexed by the negative reviews. The Prima is a beautiful ship with outstanding service and wonderful itineraries. I wouldn’t change a thing about it with the possible exception of an additional entertainment. Be sure to book dinners at some of the specialty restaurants, as they are very good. The main dining rooms offer very good food as well. We enjoyed some of the little surprises we ...
