If Hurtigruten only kept what was promised full-bodied, everything would be fine.
Apart from the service in the Lindstrom restaurant and the room service, nothing was even remotely fulfilled.
Poorly organized excursions and still limited (e.g. kayaking in the Antarctic through Losenscheid). And that with only 50% occupancy of the ship.
Completely overpriced excursions (in the Chiloe ...
We were on from Ushuaia to Milwaukee, 9 March to 7 May 2022. There were several shortfalls in the usual high-level of service and excursions that Viking is known for. We have been provided with Future Cruise Credits and are very appreciative, but I wanted to take the time to provide specific feedback for your consideration.
Kayhan , Restaurant Manager, is a true gem!!! Any shortfalls ...
This was my wife bucket list trip and what a trip it was. First and foremost the Expedition Team, getting us on the zodiacs and off, made sure everyone and I mean everyone was safe. On land, areas mark for safety, asking the many questions we had. Being around them, the enjoyment they were having, it rubbed off. The ship, the staff, and the food, you cannot beat it.
The ONE POINT that needs ...
We previously went on a Viking river cruise to Europe (Rhine) and had a wonderful time. We then saw that Viking was offering Expedition cruises to Antarctica and thought what better way to visit a part of the world that we always wanted to see. We got an email from Viking in January 2022 offering good deals on the Antarctica Sojourn cruise to New York and decided to go for it. The cruise was ...
After traveling to Punta Arenas Chile, many COVID 19 checks ,charter air flight from Santiago Chile,we embarked.Sailed part of Straight of Magellan,to arrive at a beautiful glacier doing our first zodiac cruise!Next day a landing at The Horn ,pretty rough and foggy ,165 steps to top of the stairs. After The Horn, four days at sea to South Georgia Islands, seas two to seven meters.

OUR ADVICE: CHOOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY! Take your “inner explorer” elsewhere. We took the last cruise of the 2022 Antarctic season with Hurtigruten (Feb 28 to March 17). It turned out to be a COVID disaster for us and many others on the ship, MS Roald Amundsen, and Hurtigruten was completely disorganized, incompetent and unhelpful in its response.
After two pandemic years avoiding ...
We had TWO very smooth crossings of the Drake Passage. The scenery is impossible to describe -- you have to see it yourself. We had two Special Operations Boats that you boarded within the ship for additional excursions. The lectures were very professional and informative, The Aula is a magnificent lecture hall. All the naturalist were very friendly and willing to share their expertise. There are ...
My wife and I are repeat Viking Cruisers due to their consistent customer service and excellent value. When we heard that they were building expedition ships, we made a reservation as soon as it was offered. We could not have been more pleased! The experience was one of the best in our lives. From the cabin to the outstanding food/cuisine, and wine and beverage selections we could not be happier. ...
Antarctica was my husband's choice for his 75th birthday present, so we took advantage of the opportunity to take one of the initial sailings to the bottom of the world on our "top of the cruising world" cruise line, Viking. The experience was truly remarkable--seeing a world in which the color palette was restricted to shades of white, blue, greys, and black yet provided for natural beauty on a ...
I have been interested in traveling to Antarctica for some time. When we heard about the Viking expedition ships we compared some of the other cruise lines and chose Viking because of our previous experience with Viking Longships and Ocean ships. We were not disappointed. My wife was initially reluctant due to expectations of extreme weather and agreed to the trip mostly because of the add on ...
