Sleepy but cute town. Loved seeing the planes takeoff at the airport across the river. Pro-tip - sometimes the train from Vilshofen to Munich can get quite crowded - would recommend paying the ~10 euro/ticket extra to sit in the "1st class" section where there are far fewer people. ...
Vilshofen is a quaint little town, that is nice to walk before setting sail. Did the active walk with the onboard fitness coach, and the walk was very manageable, even for our 10 year old and another family’s 6 year old. The night of embarkation we had a Bier Festival, with local music, local bier, and pretzels. It was a great way to have a good time with many of the people you had just met. ...

This was a first port. and since we got to the ship before noon, we had a bite and headed into town on our own. talked to people , checked out some of the small shops. then headed back to the ship in time for the sip and sail .. and the went to our own private Oktoberfest just off the ship. lots of beer , music, and pretzels .. ...
