When researching our first cruise, we wanted something that was kid friendly, and the first cruise ship that came up was the AmaMagna, and after seeing that they had Christmas Market cruises, we knew this was the one for us to choose. We didn’t know all of the perks offered, but after having cruised AmaWaterways, we will utilize them all in the future.
* The AmaMagna is amazing. Tons of room, very well decorated for the season, and plenty of options for dining while on board. We moored outboard another ship in Budapest, and walking across their sun deck gave us an immediate indication on how large our ship truly is.

Our cabin was plenty large for 3 people as it included a pull out sofa. This was pulled out for us every evening. Plenty of room to store luggage under the bed, as well as the closets. Laundry was done and returned within 12 hours. Balcony with two chairs to sit and enjoy the view as you sail down the Danube. In room climate control, a Mac computer, and TV, both of which have TV entertainment, so you can watch two shows at the same time. WC is separated from the shower and vanity, so plenty of room to take care of multiple activities at once. LED lighting isn’t he room is more than adequate, and each sector can have its brightness changed individually or all can be changed to separate mood settings.
Passau was a great port. We had limited time, but the tour guide was very informative, and the Christmas market was stellar, and we were never too far from the ship. I even ran into the city to get cash from an ATM, and was back on the ship within 10 minutes. Great history, and easy to talk.
We did the Salzburg excursion, and transportation was via a very comfortable coach. We stopped at the church where the wedding was filmed for the Sound of Music, and walked around the fortress of Salzburg. Only reason it is not rated 5 instead of 4 is because there isn’t enough time in Salzburg.
Vilshofen is a quaint little town, that is nice to walk before setting sail. Did the active walk with the onboard fitness coach, and the walk was very manageable, even for our 10 year old and another family’s 6 year old. The night of embarkation we had a Bier Festival, with local music, local bier, and pretzels. It was a great way to have a good time with many of the people you had just met.
