Provided us an opportunity to experience river cruising and to visit historical locations in the Netherlands and Belgium. Very interesting perspective of the WW1 battlefields in Belgium. The food was exce3llent and more than we really needed,. the guided excursions were extremely informal and we did not feel we were taxed for time and that the activity level was to extreme. There was also enough ...
My daugh ter, Paula Froelich, is a free -lance journalist. She wrote about Avalon, and she strongly recommended it to me and my sister and brother -in-law.
We have had numerous cruises with a least a half-dozen cruise lines - all very good! Avalon surpassed our expectations (even when compared to Azimara, Princess, Norwegian, Holland America, Carnival, etc.).
Remarkably fine cuisine and ...
This well organized and thoughtfully planned cruise itinerary allowed time at the beginning to explore the culturally rich and historically important city of Vienna and thereafter offered a diverse and fascinating trip up the Danube and then the Rhine with dockings and tours along the way at the most important burgs and cities.
The assigned tour guides were well versed in the history and ...
My wife and her sister cruised the Seine River on an Avalon boat, from Paris to Normandy in 10/16; they had such a wonderful experience that my wife booked this Avalon cruise for us. It was also a wonderful experience!
Starting in Holland and ending in Switzerland, every detail aboard the Avalon Artistry II, the river-side scenery, the local shore excursions led by very knowledgeable guides ...
My husband researched much data before choosing your cruise. In a word, "Fantastic". Nico, the pianist, help Jim practice for the song he wanted to sing to the assembled group on Captain's night. George and his porter friend, made SWANs in celebration of our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Swans were double facing and made from towels, with glitter saying "59", laying on our bed. We loved it. ...
We wanted to include Paris and a river cruise for our 50th wedding anniversary. Avalon gave us a great deal on the air fare. I don't think we needed the travel insurance because our credit card would have covered most of it. Except for the struggle to get through the Paris airport, everything was fabulous. In Paris we took a bus tour, a walking tour, and walked around a bit. The Eiffel Tower ...
I had heard this cruise line was one of the top cruising lines and they catered to a smaller group. I enjoyed everything about the cruise. The staff was very professional and when I had a problem with one of the servers at dinner, Avalon took care of the problem right away. The cruise director was fantastic and the room was amazing. Every detail was taken care of. What I also liked was the ...
Chose this because we wanted to have an itinerary that included both Paris and Amsterdam. Accommodations in Paris were wonderful and the ship itself was awesome. Cabins with Panorama view were the best --I am still telling people about it. Also liked the fact they told you the night before what to expect the next day on the itinerary.
Food, excursions, all were top line and the service was ...
It was 4am in the morning. My travel champion was in my driveway right on time. We loaded up my luggage and we were on our way to GRR to catch our United flight for a trip of a life time. We had a 10 hour lay over in Chicago and a 9 hour flight from ORD to CDG.
Upon arriving in Paris, an Avalon Rep. was standing by the baggage claim, holding an Avalon sign. We were directed to the area ...
We weren't sure what cruise line to choose, sort of happened upon this one on the recommendation of a friend of a friend and were glad we did! The entire staff was friendly, the Cruise Director, Minka, was fantastic, and when low water levels threatened the ship, the captain steered us through as the only cruise ship to make it down the Danube that cruise. The food was great, and the sights we ...
