This was our 25th cruise on various cruise lines, our 3rd on RCL. We chose this cruise because of its scheduled stops and the activities on board, such as rock climbing, flow rider, etc since our two grandsons accompanied us. We went in a day early staying at the Casablanca Hotel in Old Town, I recommend that hotel to you. Had dinner at La Madra nearby, also would recommend that restaurant. Our cabin was a Grand Suite, about 300 square feet, with a spacious balcony. Spacious bathroom but only one, not a bath and a half like on Disney ships. Good storage even for 4 people. Our stateroom attendant did a fine job and the Concierge, Sucel, was excellent. Good amenities and value for a suite category, more so than on other ships. The service in the Sapphire Dining Room was excellent, thank you Artan and Liping. However, the food quality in the Sapphire was at best average. Last night of the cruise we had the fried seafood special. Honestly, I have had fish sticks which were better. Desserts were okay but the menu did not vary much at all. Food quality in the Windjammer buffet was at best average. Not much change day to day in offerings for breakfast or lunch. Even our 9 and 12 year old grandsons complained of the Windjammer food quality and, trust me, they are not too discerning. With 3100 passengers, the Windjammer was aptly named (emphasis on Jammer). They ran out of seating partly because they had a large section closed and worse they ran out of silverware several times during the week. The attention to detail by the administrative team was below par. I had to make three trips to the service desk to straighten out billing errors and other matters. Concierge room was great, good selection of snacks and beverages. Very helpful Concierge (Sucel). For one of the few times ever, we skipped cruise line transfers and arranged our own. Plenty of taxis at a cost of about $25-$30 for 4 people from the airport to Old Town and then from the ship to the airport. If you need your own taxi when disembarking USE the PORTER. Worth every penny, they take you to the front of the Customs line and right out to a waiting cab. Depending on baggage will cost about $15 to $20. In a nutshell, we might try RCL again but it would have to be a Suite and it would have to be on a ship with a few less passengers. The common areas seemed small relative to the passenger count. Net net-I give it 3 stars. Read Less

This is our 4th cruise with Royal Caribbean. We have done the western itinerary twice & the Eastern once. We really wanted to do the Southern Caribbean so we chose this itinerary on the Adventure of the Seas. First time in that class & it is not that much different than the Freedom Class of ships - biggest size difference we noticed was in the pool area. We loved this itinerary as it hit so many ports (St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Kitts, Barbados & St. Lucia - well it was supposed to & I will get to that......). That itinerary was worth the extra cost to fly into Puerto Rico for that experience - & we did fly in a day early. Embarkation went VERY quickly (was surprised after reading some of the reviews). We were on the ship by noon & were able to enjoy the day even though the ship does not leave until 8:30pm. They staggered times starting with the 10th floor so we were first - that may have helped. I had read that the Adventure was in dry dock getting revamped but was not completed due to weather. Was a bit worried about the state of the ship, but had I not read this I wouldn't have known. It was as clean & gorgeous as every other ship we have been on. I had also read other reviews that the food was not so good. Not sure what they were referring to. Same great dining experience as we have always experienced with RCI. We were in cabin 1692 - which is an aft stateroom (we always try to get those - they are the best) with a balcony. There were 4 of us - husband, 13 y/o, 9 y/o & myself. The room is very comfortable for all of us. So back to the itinerary. Less than a day before embarking we got an email from RCI that they were substituting Martinique (boo) for St. Lucia because the dredging wasn't done. They told us that they just found out that day, but I saw reviews on here from a month prior saying the same thing happened. I get that they could not control the dredging but it was very poor for them to wait until the last minute & we had even booked an excursion for St. Lucia the week prior even though they knew we would not be going there. Very disappointing - it was the 1 low of the trip. One other thing about this itinerary - it is the FIRST time ever that we were the ONLY ship in EVERY SINGLE PORT! HUGE BONUS!!!! We did one excursion on St. Kitts - the 4x4 Island Safari & Beach (KT94) which is done through Greg's Safaris. It was amazing. We went on a 4x4 off the beaten path. Looped through the rainforest & up to "Paradise Level" which is 1000 feet above sea level & had great panoramic views with some awesome rum punch!. Saw some green monkeys eating mangoes in the rainforest . Also hit some other amazing views on the other side of the island (esp. Timothy Hill) before beach time at Friar's Bay. Overall, though, we found the cost of excursions has gotten pretty pricey & that is without including a meal where in the past they would. So the other ports we did on our own. We felt very safe doing so. Everything else was excellent. It is a real pleasure to cruise RCI. We heard that they are going to be moving the Freedom down to do this itinerary. That is our favorite ship - I would do it again in a heartbeat! Read Less

Choose this cruise for the port itinerary and to go when family and friends. This was my first cruise. I liked the various islands we visited. I thought they were all going to be similar but I was surprised to find that they are quite different from one another. Very nice tours to choose from provided by Royal Caribbean. I found that the dining was sometimes very good and at other times it was just so so. I only ate at the complementary dining room, the buffet, and the promenade cafe. The selection always included meet, fish, and vegetarian options. I found it hard to refill our bottles with water before going on an excursion or even to keep in our rooms, but, I must say that the tap water in our rooms was very drinkable and I used that some of the time instead of buying bottled water all the time. The staff on the ship were wonderful! Always friendly, cheerful, and helpful if needed. The rooms were kept immaculately, with a precious new towel animal to greet us each afternoon! That was just delightful. The boarding and disembarking process was painless. Kudos to Royal Caribbean for that! Enjoyed a couple of shows, but must say that the Elvis show was fantastic! So entertaining and funny. Read Less

We pick this cruise cause of dates and where it went, cabins were a little dated and only 3 plugs in the whole room. We had the grand suite and we did like the bigger bathroom and lounge chairs by the pool for suite people. Food was good we ate at Chops steak and it was the best. Early June was a good time to go temp in low to mid 80 and was always a breeze. We were supposed to go to St Lucia but at last minute they changed to another island. They said not deep enough. That was one of the main islands we wanted to go to. Since we were in the suite we had higher upgrades which was nice. First to check in no lines waiting. it was a great trip maybe 3 rd time we have flown out of st Juan. Internet not as fast as I thought it would be but ok. Read Less

Chose this cruise due to itinerary. THEN they changed itinerary and eliminated St. Lucia which is only reason why I picked this itinerary!!!! We got balcony suite (first time ever for this type of room) and loved balcony and will not go to interior room ever again!! Getting on and off ship was really fast!! Totally impressed!! We were one of first 20 off boat at the no tag/carry own luggage category. We had early flight. But we got there early and the crew let people off boat based on when you got in line. It was nice!! The food was fantastic but it would have been nice to have other places to go besides Windjammer (buffet place), formal dining hall, and a small cafe (that served Windjammer food at). Carnival has several different options for places to get food (that is still free). I felt like we were "nickeled and dimed to death". Every time we turned around someone had their hand out wanting more money/tips/cost for everything. Even basic room service costs $7.95 per order to use it. The ship is so dated although the adult pool area is very nice looking for the most part. The interior elevators are pretty cool because they are glass and you can watch/see things around you. Lots of elevators which was so nice. Our room was kept very clean although the floor in front of the bathroom door and closet was soaked for some reason. They brought in fans to help dry it. They gave us $150 refundable credit for that inconvenience. They wanted to give me 20% off next cruise but I told them I have no intention of cruising with them again. The extra cost for this cruise line in comparison to Carnival and Norwegian is not justified. The last 2 days of trip they had envelopes out in your room and all over ship for you to tip people even MORE then what we are already tipping them. I think over $400 for 4 people for 1 week is plenty of money to be tipping anyone. But nope, they want you to pay even more then that! The ice rink, which I never saw, you must have socks and pants to skate! Daughter said sign said you have to wear helmet and elbow pads if you skate. Read Less

I got on the Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas on Saturday, June 3, 2017 and was sooooo excited. Having been on other RCCL Ships, I had high expectations. The Adventure of the Seas is starting to show signs of aging. Our bathroom was rusted at the bottom and the sink faucet ran VERY slowly. This boat also has a funny smell in several places and compared to 5 years earlier when I had gotten on this same boat, the level of cleanliness had declined. The food is just OK. The main dining room was initially not so great, but I have to give it to the Dining room staff – the Maître D, Mohammed, and Marlon, our waiter and Anecito, our assistant waiter; once we expressed concern, they went out of their way to make sure we had what we wanted every night. Our room Steward was just ok as well. She seemed more concerned about policy than making us feel welcomed. There were 3 people in our room and she consistently left 2 washcloths, REALLY??? The entertainment was good. Our only concern is that the slide was down but it was good other places like the skating rink, mini golf, rock climbing, etc. Read Less

We have an amazing travel agent who recommended this cruise. It was an amazing trip except for one excursion that was cancelled but that was not a Royal Caribbean cancellation. The wait staff was absolutely fantastic. We were able to have the same waiter and assistant for each evening meal and was very thrilled with the service. They truly showed what customer service should be. They looked forward us being there as much as we looked forward to being there. They made it fun and exciting. The entertainment that was presented on board was fun and engaging and was very professional. It made the cruise much more fun. The facilities on board were top notch. The fitness center, pools, slides, rock climbing wall, boogie board etc were all great. I loved using the fitness center and it was very well equipped. Watching out the front of the ship while working out was a great benefit. I would certainly use Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

We chose the cruise for the itinerary. Unfortunately, the itinerary changed at least 3 weeks prior to sailing, yet we were not notified until the night before with not even a message on their website. The food was mediocre at best and sometimes quite poor. How can you mess up pancakes and waffles (way undercooked)? They have added premium items of up to $30 to the main dining room menu. A 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 pound lobster tail was $30. The entertainment was poor compared to other lines. Mostly production numbers by a group that was not up to par. After the "Oasis of the Seas" was launched, I talked with a passenger who had just been on another Royal ship. He was quite displeased, saying that they took the best, most experienced staff for the Oasis and the service on their ships was poor. I don't think Royal has recovered. Though our dining staff was quite good, too many staff members were indifferent, surly, or rude. The staff for the trivia contests came unprepared and couldn't wait to get it over with. There was a cigar smoker by the pool. When we inquired at guest services, we were told that since they closed the cigar bar, there were certain times cigars were allowed by the pool. It was typical that this was not one of those allowed times, yet no one took any action. Gratuities have climbed to $13.50 per person per day. Bingo turned into the biggest ripoff I've seen in a while. You paid $30 to get your tickets for a single game (not the usual four) with a prize of $300. With over 100 people in the room, the cruise line did quite well. In general things were disorganized. The daily "Cruise Compass" often contained errors. The dinner reservation line often went unanswered. There are too many other cruise lines that treat their passengers with more respect. Read Less

First time on Adventure of the seas cruise line with my family. Choose this cruise line due to the beautiful embarkation port stops. My stateroom was suppose to face the ports of each arrival when we looked out the window and it faced a not too pleasant site. We could not embark in St. Lucia went to Martinique France instead which was disappointing after waiting for a year (things happens). This ship really needs to be updated, the room cabin was very disappointing. The luggage crew also was rough on my luggage and broke a wheel on my new luggage when returning to debark in San Juan on the cruise ship. Otherwise the shows and the food was very good... staff was nice, had a good time, meet people, and relaxed. I would definitely go on Royal Caribbean again, just not on Adventure of the Seas especially compared to my last cruise on the Allure. Read Less
