I am not an experienced cruiser and I am not a big fan of cruise ships so that may color my evaluation. However, I feel that this ship was adaquate for taking me and my wife to a number of Greek islands. The sea food was good. The deserts were good. The breakfasts were fine. My wife and I traveled independently and did belong to a tour group. The instructions and communications onboard were not all that clear. We had some aggravation trying to find out what was going on with regard to disembarking etc. Most of the cabins were rather small and without balconies. The cabins were sufficient but not luxurious. Some of the cabins had recently been refurbished which was nice. The seating at meals was ona first come, first serve basis. There was no seating by language so sometimes we were sitting next to people who did not speak english. Read Less

My rating would have been higher except for 3 major issues: On the first day, there was no announcement the required safety drill was delayed. MANY passengers assembled at the scheduled time and wasted more than an hour waiting with lifejackets on. The restaurant maƮtre d' was rude and unaccommodating in seating our group in the dining room even though our guide had made reservations for a group seating. Some waiters were not attentive and failed to bring coffee and water. At Kusadasi, the excursion tour to Ephesus was very good EXCEPT there was an unscheduled stop at Turkman Weaving and Carpet center. Supposedly it was for a weaving demonstration but that quickly turned into VERY HIGH PRESSURE sales pitches. People were not expecting the onslaught and later regretted their purchases. Prices would start very high and then drop (say $4,000 down to $2,500) but we had no way to know the fair market price. Ships personnel were at the store to alert the ship that we would be late reboarding because of the ongoing sales activity. We also did not have time to stop at the covered bazaar as listed. Passengers should not be subjected to such sales schemes. Otherwise: Food was okay and ample. Cabin was small but adequate; stewards did a good job and were very pleasant, helpful. Announcements on the public address system were garbled and hard to understand. The drink plans were too pricey for us. It was more cost effective for us to just pay individual drink costs when needed. Read Less

Overall the cruise wasn't bad, with exception of food being tbe same most nights and not being very good. The excursions were very good, again with the exception of the Oia excursion having a tour guide not very well organized and occasionally making non sensical statements. The best tour guide was on the Island of Crete Minon of Knoss. The main problem with all the excursions was the lqck of support for clients with disabilities issues. Read Less

We didn't book this cruise directly, it was part of our larger Greek tour. I'm am not a "cruiser". I've only done one other cruise (Disney, ages ago.) As the professional review notes, this is an old ship. Nothing has really been done to update it. The 80's brass is in evidence everywhere. We had an outside cabin with a window on Deck 4. Small, yes, but no smaller than I expected. The bathroom was small, the shower was miniscule. I swear, I don't know how larger people fit. They provide mass squeeze shampoo and body wash, but I wasn't particularly impressed. If you like washcloths, bring your own. The food is plentiful and what you'd expect on a cruise: decent at a minimum, sometimes quite good. My husband and aunt had dishes they both loved (I was under the weather and not the best judge.) They've gone to open dining at all times, which I think makes for a far more hectic dining experience than necessary. I got the impression the servers pulled a dozen different directions. One thing I will say is that they don't try to gouge you with their drink prices. A glass of champagne was 4.3 euros, which seemed reasonable to me. (Less than I'd pay in a restaurant.) We also discovered the duty free shipboard prices for liquor to be better than anything we saw in the airport (much to our regret!) The staff works works very hard to make things pleasant. I have no complaints regarding our cabin stewards. I requested ice once, and got it every day, which is the kind of thoughtful service worth rewarding. We only did two of their excursions, but both were well-done. This is probably a great cruise if you're looking for an economical way to see the Greek islands and not entertain yourself with a cruise ship. Frankly, there isn't very much to do on the ship. I did have a very lovely aromatherapy massage. IMO, they should ditch the morning stop at Crete and give a full day somewhere else. Half-days only allow you to do so much, and there's nothing within walking distance to the port in Crete. Read Less
