This was my first cruise with Celebrity however I have traveled several times on other lines. I was expecting something else as i was told if I like the previous cruise i was on this was the next level - well i was greatly disappointed.
The staff - sure there was about 4-5 that i would say went above and beyond - the rest couldn't give a dam, in fact in one bar when my choice of drink ran out ...
I went with Celebrity to Alaska before with my mom, about a decade ago. It was great. I decided to go back with my mother-in-law, and it's not great.
Some elements of the cruise are just wonderful. But there is SO MUCH wrong that I really can't give it a better review.
The wonderful: Some of the staff. The problem is that it's only SOME of the staff. On multiple occasions, I had a ...
My wife and I just finished a Alaskan cruise on Celebrity Millennium on August 17th, 2018. Here are our detailed comments:
An Alaskan cruise, inside passage, was a bucket list item for us. We chose the Millennium because rated good (not exceptional), and it's not so huge it could not get close to the glaciers.
The boat is pretty worn. Completely functional, but worn. We had a sky suite ...
Our first cruise (20 something yrs ago) was out of Boston to Bermuda and I can say this cruise was so much more smooth. We had heard that the best way to see Alaska (Glaciers) was to take a cruise. We decided to do the land portion the week before cruising because we knew there was more to Alaska than the Glaciers and I'm so glad we did it in that order. We were pretty tired at the end of the ...
Really wanted to take an Alaska cruise and this fit with our schedule. It was ok, overall. The staff were genuinely friendly. Most of the shows were decent enough. Very little trivia, which was a surprise. Also, no piano player. How hard is that, really?
The ports of call were uneven, with Icy Passage being totally overpriced for the few options that did exist. Skip this port. ...
I boarded the ship with a great deal of trepidation in view of the many previous negative reviews. I would advise fellow travelers to ignore the whiners and chronic complainers. One reviewer even commented that it was disappointing that it was a small ship! Any internet research would reveal that the ship carries about 2100 passengers - those wanting a bigger ship should book ...
We enjoyed our Alaska cruise, but were disappointed that little things added up to such frustration with Celebrity. The cabin was surprisingly roomy, but the temperature control there didn't work, and there were only 2 power outlets (seriously? this is 2018 after all). Also, the WiFi service which I purchased was spotty at best; it only worked in common areas, not in my room, and it didn't ...
My son chose this cruise for me and two grandchildren because of his schedule; otherwise would have chosen Disney or Princess, more kid-oriented. Very good food with lots of choices, either buffet, which kids usually preferred, or waiter service, food excellent but long wait time, however next to ocean view window. Nice swimming pools kids liked and outdoor film showing, hot tubs not hot enough by ...
We wanted to go to Alaska (and had cruised there before 20 years ago). We decided to do the Talkeetna Treasures land/sea cruise tour. The land portion of the trip was amazing. I am still trying to fathom how large Alaska is. We were fortunate enough to see Denali twice while on the tour (so we are members of the 30% club). We didn't see a lot of wildlife (eagle, moose, bear) but the countryside is ...
Bucket list Alaska trip did not disappoint. But Ship did! Was way understaffed in dining room, to the point of painful. 2 1/2 hrs for a meal. Food portions were the smallest I have ever seen on a cruise. Lido deck became our saving grace. Always plenty of food, but seemed to stick with the same themes, not much variety. Indian and stir fry food became the staple for the area. Neither were my cup ...
