For celebrating our 50 th anniversary we chose Viking for it’s high ratings and ideal itinerary.

Two problems - skipped a key port and challenging for someone with a dairy sensitivity! The itinerary for this trip looked great but we were unable to stop in Edinburgh, one of the main stops we were interested in. We spent the day cruising around the Orkney Islands instead. The scenery was beautiful, but we were really looking forward to Edinburgh. Rumors were that the ship that was blocking ...
After 25 cruises, we thought we'd try Viking due to excellent reviews. We were underwhelmed. Firstly, two important ports were canceled (Edinburgh- another ship unexpectedly remained in the berth reserved for our ship) and Dublin due to poor weather. We received no compensation for port duties and missed excursions; we were offered $500 credit towards a future cruise. The service in the dining ...
Being 25% Swedish/Norwegian, I have been interested in traveling in this area for years. This was my first real ocean cruise, but 6th time with Viking. I prefer the Viking River Cruises.
What I liked:
The ship is wonderful. It is nicely decorated. There are ample stairs and elevators. We loved our room with a balcony where we could actually sit and enjoy the ocean view. The heated ...
Had to choose cruise to make up for longer Malta cruise cancelled due to covid. Chose cruise for fjord scenery and big upgrade in room. Loved the Penthouse Suite which saved the day in so many ways. Huge, comfortable, large, working shower, lots of storage and terrific butler with staff. So many very professional staff showing Viking has improved training big time but still need work in some ...
We have never been on Viking and were anxious to try them. We picked this cruise because it ended in Barcelona. First, managing the pre-cruise was a nitemare. Viking was no help and the system was terrible. They sell out shore excursions to hi-end before balcony cabins have a chance. Help for figuring out covid requirements per country was non existent. On our connection flight we landed to find ...
The ship was beautiful. Meals were good. Nice beer and wine. Staff were accommodating. Spa/pool were great. Had a mediocre but expensive massage. Two ports of call were downright boring with poor included tours. I would recommend booking your own tours in most of the ports. You will see more (better price) than you do with the Viking tours.
If you pay for extras or sign up for a another tour ...
My wife and I love sailing with Viking. We always travel with friends and they love it too. Viking is a premier cruise line that provides the best customer service I have experienced. We stayed in the Penthouse Junior suite and it was awesome! Viking crew pampers you and no detail is left unattended. I would like to see a little better variety of traditional American food available from the ...
Every ( 5 or 6 cruises) Northern Lights cruise this year missed the same two ports Stavanger and Bodo. Viking changed the Stavanger Port to Lerwick, Scotland. Not one time was Viking Venus able to dock in either Bodo or Lerwick because of weather.
The result--every cruise had 5 consecutive days at sea either at the start or at the end.
I contacted the highest levels (Mr Hagen) of ...
We have just returned from our first-ever cruise (Viking Northern Lights). We chose Viking because of its business model which appeared to suit our general requirement for high-end travel. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t quite meet Viking’s service-level claims. Much of what they do is good, but there are many areas that require finessing before it can truly claim to deliver a luxury travel ...
