First time taking a Windstar Cruise. Expectations were a little higher than experience, such as the souvenir shop had limited clothing sizes and selection and I found the bed to be very uncomfortable without any topper to soften the hard mattress. The food was great and the crew the best I've seen, especially my cabin attendant, Nilu, who kept my room clean and my bed made or turned down, as I ...
We sailed on the Windsurf Pride in 2018. A delightful trip with fond momories of ports of call and the people and staff we met on the Pride. Fast forward to 2023 Wind Surf sailing expecting a wonderful sailing experience with friends we invited to come along and join in the smaller ship luxury experience that Windstar had offered in the past.
Pro's of this trip:
Stateroom is comfortable and ...
We previously cruised with Windstar on their "Dreams of Tahiti" itinerary and loved the entire experience. Both ships on our cruises were Star Class ships meaning all of the rooms were suites and everything is in a larger scale than their sailing ships. This second time around we were less than impressed. It all started with the help line dedicated to the cruise line. No one could verify if we ...
The Star Legend will be in dry dock soon to completely refurbish it and add 100 staterooms. And it need it. Everything was from gently to quite worn. Seals were broken on three large windows in the Yacht Club lounge, obscuring the view.
That said, the staterooms were quite comfortable and the house staff attentive.
Excursions are extremely expensive. Choose wisely. It’s much more fun to ...
We waited for months for our amazing cruise adventure, and spent quite a bit more than the "average" cruise to experience Windstar. The ship was great, and the itinerary was as expected. The service, however, really suffered. I don't know who wrote the other review for our ship (July, 2019), but for the $ spent, the crew's attention to guests in the dining/bar area was inexperienced. Didn't ...
The cabin size and the decor, the staff, the food - all excellent.
The staff were amazing and always tried to please and solve any issues.
But our cabin 300 right up front on deck 6 was extremely disappointing as we felt every little wave on the ocean. I have never felt so much motion in a cabin before. When traveling on a small ship make sure you are midship and down low. Unfortunately ...
My wife & I sailed on 1/12/19, Our 6th Windstar cruise, 3rd on Wind Surf. Room 126.
The ship – Wind Surf – was built in 1990, and is showing its age in too many areas. Rust, loose planks, paint peeling, bent railings, and I could go on. The most odd part is that I didn’t see any maintenance crew guys doing repairs. Which to me means that there is something else, a problem that goes deeper ...
We had never taken a motorized yacht before and wanted to try the smaller cruise experience. Yes the food was very good, always fresh and served timely. And the crew was very pleasant and focused on customer service. But, the ship is in disrepair. There are layers of peeling paint and rust everywhere. The entertainment is pretty lame and the specialty restaurants are nothing more than the ...
I really wanted to love this cruise. My husband and I are at a point in our lives where we are often willing to pay extra for a little luxury and ease. Windstar promised that, but only partially delivered. The value was just not there.
Pros:
--Small ship with sails: we don’t enjoy large ships anymore and the sails were beautiful
--Excellent service: from the Captain on down, ...
We have sailed on all of the Windstar ships at least once and some more than once and this was one of the worst sailing experiences we encountered on any cruise line including Princess, NCL, Carnival, or Royal Caribbean. The deck crew was there but almost non-existent. When able to get their attention, they were curt/rude. Tables at breakfast most days were left un-cleaned while guest stood ...
