We choose this cruise to visit Japan and Alaska and we liked that there were a lot of sea days when crossing the Bering Sea. The embarkation in Kobe was a little slow, but not bad. we were in cabin V705, on the same floor with Seabourn Square, which was convenient for getting morning coffee and snacks.
As one cruiser said in her review, the ship was clean, but the decor snd furnishings are a ...
We were on board for 36 days and had some really great crew members, but serious issues with many the didn’t have a clue what they were doing and some just plain overwhelmed. Our cabin stewardess was the worst I have had in 40 YEARS of cruising...clearly overwhelmed, everyday her service cart was the last to leave the passageway....where are the supervisiors to help with the proper training and ...
Having cruised on larger ships (Cunard & Celebrity), we decided to try a luxury, mid-size ship and booked the Seabourn Sojourn for its 20 night cruise from Cape Town to the Maldives.
On the plus side:
1) Our embarkation and disembarkation were managed efficiently.
1) The verandah cabin was a pleasant surprise - spacious with heaps of hanging/drawer space and an enormous modern bathroom. ...
Without a doubt, we had a great cruise on Sojourn Oct-Dec 2018, pretty much flawless, so we booked a 94 day cruise( Auckland to Cape Town). Total disappointment, the entire cruise was fraught with inconsistency in service and chaos in dining rooms and bars. To say the least, we were disappointed in Seabourn Service standard not even 1 star.
These are the highlights (tongue in cheek):
Bar ...
A Seabourn on-board credit of $250 @ guest was provided for on-going pool deck area and pool repairs with patio restaurant interruption. In our opinion, the compensation offered was inadequate for the scope of repairs and interruption.
Seabourn's response to our survey review on this inadequaecy included the following:
"We ... apologize for the onboard maintenance on Deck 8 that disturbed ...
This was our 1st cruise on Seabourn. We had heard great things from people we met on other cruises about Seabourn and wanted to give it a try. We live in Asia so the 21 day Kobe Japan to Alaska cruise sounded great. We flew to Osaka and took the high speed ferry across to Kobe. Stayed one night in Kobe and headed for Kyoto the next day on the train. A little rainy but had a great time in Kyoto ...
We cruise for about six months each year and chose Seabourn for the itinerary. We are usually Silver Seas cruisers which sets a high standard. The ship was very nice, clean and extremely well maintained. We had a Penthouse cabin which was nice and roomy and our Cabin attendant was very willing but seemed overworked. Room service was excellent and the food was always hot.
First disappointment ...
Having sailed on Silversea prior to this cruise, the standards were set pretty high. This was our first cruise with Seabourn and we were left rather dissapointed. There were some fine points and unfortunately far too many negatives for the amount of $$$ paid.
The ship itself is very nice and cosy, clean and well maintained and spacious given the low number of guests onboard. Our Suite was ...
Despite the food being disappointing, we enjoyed the first segment of our cruise to Hong Kong. However our time onboard the Sojourn from Hong Kong to Singapore was most unpleasant. The cabin forward of us was occupied by heavy smokers and it made our balcony unusable. We experienced the pungent smell of cigar smoke (from the deck below) whilst eating lunch in the Colonade. We could find nowhere to ...
