Viking Ocean Cruise 2016 Review
We have been on the Baltic Viking cruise, we were familiar with the Viking philosophy. We liked the itinerary so we decided to try it. We were not disappointed. We have booked another Ocean Cruise next year. The ship is very well laid out, we never walked into a lounge or other room and felt crowded. The included excursions were not a good as we had experience ...
We went through the shore excursions before the cruise. I would recommend two things, one, book your excursions early, they fill up fast. Two, when you get aboard check for additional excursions that were not offered on-line.
We ate most of our meals in the main dining room which has an excellent selection for dishes and good wine. Second most dining was in the 7th floor buffet which also ...
Viking did an excellent job of make the ship seem more intimate than it really is. There are several smaller areas you could go to relax and seem that that this was your private cruise. Especially enjoyed the Explorer Lounge area, which was never crowded. The good was excellent--loved seeing the open kitchen in the World Buffet. Also liked that you did not have to pay additional to dine at ...
This was our first ocean cruise and we are hooked! We chose this particular cruise because there were so many ports of call and we thought it would give a good sense of the Caribbean overall and perhaps clue use into an island we might want to visit for an extended stay at some future point. As it turns out we enjoyed everything about the ship so much that it was difficult some days to even go ...
We enjoyed Viking's France' Finest offering a year ago and looked forward to doing another or trying their new ocean cruise options. Soon after we returned from France we received an email promotion of The West Indies Explorer offering and determined that one of the sailings would include New Year's Eve at sea. The combination was too much to resist.
As mentioned in many of the accompanying ...
We chose another Viking cruise based on excellent experience in the past. Viking is not flashy, there are no kids, no casino, etc.Only 900 passengers. It's a more sophisticated and older crowd. No one gets loud or drunk on Viking. This was the West Indies Explorer itinerary.
Dining is excellent, including wine or beer or soda with lunch and dinner. Waiters seemed a little more harried than ...
We chose this cruise after a lot of cruising experience because Viking has taken the difficulties out of the experience making it hassle free and very enjoyable. The dining experience was so elegant and the food interesting and delicious. The bathroom we had was the nicest ever with a shower head with power and drawers to put things in. We loved the size of the ship and the smaller number of ...
We chose Viking's West Indian tour since we wanted someplace warm and we were looking for a slightly different type of cruise experience. We took advantage of a special advertised deal for this eleven-day voyage. Everything about the cruise went smoothly from our initial arrival to our departure. We loved the modern ship and the clean, new, well laid-out cabin.
The food in all of the venues ...
Tried something different. Heard good things about Viking Cruises
The service at. The steward was efficient, knew us by name on the first day.
The dining choices were enjoyable and the special restaurants were like eating in 5 star restaurants. The included excursions were average but this could also be because the Caribbean islands are all similar with not much to see culturally.
The ...
Overall, my family and I were extremely impressed by this Viking Cruise.
First, the highlights:
The ship: Viking Star is an absolutely beautiful ship. It's still new and kept immaculately clean. The decor is Danish modern - I loved the furniture, especially in the public spaces. While it's a definite bonus that each room has it's own balcony, we also found ample places to sit in the public ...
