Our family chose this cruise line because we have gone through it before and have really enjoyed the service and overall experience of the ship! We came to Orlando,FL a day before embarkation and stayed at The Avid Hotel which was very clean and 3 weeks new! We were told it was built with the intention of serving professionals, so I would not suggest this place with families with younger children if you are looking for something like a pool. However, for young adults and older it was just fine! Embarkation overall went very smoothly and they even let us on the ship a little early than our original boarding time! Once we got on they let us explore the Ship and our rooms were ready at 1pm. For the duration of our cruise our room was ALWAYS clean after a day of fun! Sabina, who worked as a state room attendant, was incredible clean and responsive to any mess we made! She also has an amazing and warm personality and whenever we saw her we had a great chat because she always asked us about our day! The dining experiences were amazing but I have to highlight Jacinto the head waiter, Kexin the assistant waiter, and Reuben who I believe was a manager, went above and beyond for their service! We made sure to be seated at their table every night because they were such a joy to be around. They were all very personable, welcoming, and went above and beyond in their job each in their unique way. They also all remembered our tendencies in terms of what we ordered whether it was extra vegetables on the side to an order of espresso. Royal Caribbean Cruises really hires top people in their industry! I would say that every staff member I encountered on the ship I had a positive experience with. The entertainment was AMAZING. Definitely top performers around the world!! The ports and shore excursions were very fun! Even though Coco Cay excursions were canceled due to weather, the Island was beautiful and the service was still great! The ship did not seem overcrowded ever and the only time it ever felt busy was during dinner in terms of waiting, however we never even waited that long. There were children on board, but there was this place called the solarium which was an adult only place and it was incredibly relaxing. It definitely felt different than the rest of the pool areas. If you’re someone looking to meet others on the ship it is actually quite easy to because it seems that many guests are very friendly and open to meeting new people! There’s also many opportunities to meet people either the same and or similar identities. My sister and I went the the LGBTQ meet and greet one night and met some really nice people we kept in contact with and hung out with for the rest of the duration of the cruise! The cruise line made it easy because they have an app where you can actually message Other passengers on! I would definitely recommend using the app if you go on the ship. It keeps you updated on all events and activities and really promotes involvement. However the only down side is that the other guests would save the cabanas and not let other guests use them, so I would say maybe add more cabanas if possible? I would definitely go again!!! I am not sure where I should begin. When we got into the room, my son looked behind the chair in the corner and found a dirty pair of underwear rolled up in a ball. Then at 3am on one of the nights I heard a huge crashing noise. Turns out a man jumped off the 11th floor balcony and landed right next to my window on the 6th floor. We had to do a detour to Miami so we could get him to the hospital since he was still alive. Then they spend the next several hours cleaning up the deck where he landed. When we arrived to Coco Cay we figured we would go to the beach first and then go to the water park. When we tried to go to the water park we were told they were sold out for the day. They have 2 boats at this port at the same time and this is just too many people obviously. The bathrooms on this private island are dirty and the toilets in some of the restrooms do not flush. In the eating areas there were ice machines and ice cream machines down. I was not able to get an ice cream cone due to the enormous lines. The food overall was so so. We figured the day we were leaving we would eat in the dining room. That was a mistake. The service was terrible. They brought out warm milk with the cereal, no syrup for the pancakes, no drink for my son and no bacon with my eggs. When I complained, the server told me "we will do better next time" This whole cruise is a cattle call. They try to get as many people on this boat as possible sacrificing service. Read Less

My husband and I cruise a lot. We have cruised on Carnival, MSC, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. I think about 15 in total. We have only been on Royal Caribbean twice. This last time we went on Harmony of the Seas. The ship was beautiful but it was just another cruise ship. We did not like that we had to make reservations for the shows prior to departing. While at sea one of our shows was cancelled and the new time for us was at 10 pm. We had our small grandchildren with us so this time was not good so we missed the show we really wanted to see. The food was pretty good and the shows that we did get to see were good. The cabin- a balcony- was typical. The ship, although it did have all the bells and whistles, was pretty much the same as all the other ships. We found that unlike MSC or even Carnival, Royal Caribbean over charges for everything and they automatically add tips onto EVERY little thing. THey even charged a tip on a little overly priced plain popcorn that we purchased for our grandsons to have during a show. Carnival gave us popcorn for free. We did not like that our grandsons were too small to go on the water slides- even though they were big enough on the Carnival Breeze. In fact, the water park on the Carnival Breeze was far superior to the Harmony. BUT, the main reason we are giving only one star is because when we returned home we were charged $200 for a deposit on a future cruise. Neither I nor my husband authorized this. We had not been interested in a future cruise at the time of the cruise. We had JUST returned from a European MSC cruise (AWESOME EXPERIENCE-LOVE MSC) So, although we are planning on a cruise out of China, that is not for at least another year. When we called Royal Caribbean to inquire about the charge we were basically told that the charge was NON REFUNDABLE! HUH? How is a charge that neither I nor my husband authorized be non refundable? When we departed the ship we were given a printout of our charges and nowhere was there a mention of a future cruise deposit. Well after an hour on the phone only to be accused of having second thoughts and therefore wanting our money back we hung up on Royal Caribbean. We immediately filed a complaint with the BBB and contacted our credit card company. Now, our future cruises will definitely be on different cruise line. Shame on Royal Caribbean for treating their customers so rudely. NEVER AGAIN ROYAL CARIBBEAN! Read Less

My husband and I thought that we would try something different this cruise and go Royal rather than our norm, which is Carnival. We have never had a bad cruise with Carnival, however, we didn’t see an itinerary that caught our eye during the vacation week that we had scheduled off for out of the port that we use. No biggie, we were all for trying something new! (Our mistake) Day 1 starting our voyage on Harmony of the Seas, embarkation was a breeze! Easiest check-in/boarding process I’ve ever had. Royal did not provide sign and sail cards until rooms were ready and they left them in an envelope outside your cabin. In the meantime, they provided a paper with a barcode you could use as a temporary sign and sail card for any purchases onboard the ship. We boarded the ship and had very minimal time before our cabin became available. We had a standard balcony cabin that was pretty much the same as all of our Carnival cabins. Our cabin had a “cooler” instead of a fridge. This is apparently a Royal thing. It was better than nothing, but a fridge would have been nicer. We purchased bottled waters for our cabin and they were “chilled” and that was about it when we took them out to drink. Next was the laundry fiasco! There was a paper bag left on our bed that had laundry service instructions. There was a promotion on the first day to get your clothes ironed for half price. Perfect we thought! I hate ironing! I packed as many clothes as I could into the bag as instructed and left for our room attendant. She informed us she would have our clothes back to us the following day, though the instructions stated it could be up to 48hrs before clothes are returned. We head to dinner where we are seated at a table for 6. We asked our waiter why we weren’t at a table for 2, he stated he’d have to speak with his manager. Luckily, no one else showed up. (We are all for table sharing at breakfast but not dinner and especially not after a long day of travel) I ordered chicken Marsala and my husband ordered prime rib and a baked potato. My food was edible. That’s where I will leave it. The presentation was not as expected. My husband’s steak was okay but he had to eat his baked potato plain because he was never offered butter nor sour cream as we watched the other waiters go from table to table serving it to their guests. Our waiter was inattentive. The dining room was bare, likely due to being the first night, so there’s no excuse that he was overwhelmed. The dining room manager came and told us that we had been assigned a new table for 2 in a different dining room for the remainder of the cruise. Let’s head into Day 2! We were excited for breakfast. Breakfast in the main dining room has always been a highlight of our cruises in the past. We made our way to the dining room for breakfast where we were shocked with how limited the menu was. However, it was a day at port so we had hopes that the sea day breakfast would be better. So, Perfect Day at Coco Cay! First time for us. It was okay. It was literally a water park and man made beaches! Nothing spectacular, but relaxing nevertheless. We beached for a while and had lunch that was provided at the park. I was impressed with the variety of food that was provided for lunch. We headed back to the ship for an afternoon nap before dinner. Luckily, we slept past our dinner time (5:00) because our laundry still hadn’t been dropped off so we had no clothes to wear to the main dining room. My husband had a few extra casual shirts that he was going to put on so we could go to the buffet. He proceeds out of our room with his shirt and asked staff in the hallway where he could find a laundry room to iron when he was informed that “Royal does not do that.” Note to future cruisers! Carnival, laundry rooms everywhere. Royal, pay for laundry service or go wrinkled. Had I known this, I would have paid to have all of our clothes ironed. Moving on, the buffet was great! Lots to choose from. Good service. Around 12:45am we were woke up by our drunk neighbor who in the moment we thought was in the hallway w/ his guests. They were being extremely loud and obnoxious. We could hear their entire conversation word for word. We ended up calling in a noise complaint after 20 minutes went by. Apparently security came and did not see anyone in the hallway so we then were called and security asked my husband to come out to the hallway where he was basically confronted about the people actually being in their room and not the hallway. We had no idea being woke up out of a dead sleep where the people were, it sounded like they were in bed with us. We were giving them the benefit of the doubt and thought that they were just locked out and waiting on someone to let them in. We have never experienced a “bad neighbor” on a cruise before. Security tells my husband there is nothing they can do when guests are inside their cabins and that, “Sir many people are still awake.” As we were approaching 1:30am at this point. Day 3 was a day at sea! Again, we were excited to get to the main dining room for sea day brunch! Only to find THE SAME EXACT MENU OFFERED AS THE DAY BEFORE! No specialties. 4-6 hot dishes. We were once again let down and ate in the WindJammer Buffet for breakfast for the rest of the week. Our room attendant saw us in the hallway and asked about the noise complaint the night before. No clue how she knew about it. So we told her that security was not helpful and that the noise continued until around 4:00am. She apologized and stated that she would be in contact with guest services. Surprisingly, later that evening she brought her manager and guest service supervisor to our room who were very nice and asked that we please let them know if the neighbor continues to be a disturbance because there was only to be 1 guest in that room so if he was bringing people in, they could put a stop to it. To make a long story short — we ended up downloading a noise app on our iPad and played it every night to get rest. There were a few nights that we weren’t bothered too bad, but we had a TERRIBLE neighbor. Days 4&5 we good days at port. We loved biking in San Juan and snorkeling in St Thomas. We thought we’d try our new dining room out since being reassigned seating. The service was better. The food was worse. I had ahi tuna that had an orange sauce over it that resembled baby food and tasted like carrots and cinnamon mixed together. It was terrible. I couldn’t even eat it. My husband had the New York Strip steak that he was pleased with. We made sure to have dinner off the ship in San Juan at the local Tatiana’s right at port. Some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had! The only downfall to eating off the ship was that it left us with limited options for later. The buffet closed at 8:45pm EVERY NIGHT and the only other option after that was pizza on the promenade where most of the 6,200 guests would be for “night life.” In fact, every time we went down there we had to weave through chairs that people were sitting in lining the sides of the entire deck. They actually blocked off the entrance to the pizza place! It was not convenient at all! We stayed hungry after hours! Day 6&7 we knew we were in for it! 2 LONG days at sea! Days 6&7 at sea. We had a massage booked on day 6 in the spa. It was delightful. The staff was friendly! In fact, a lady that helped us actually told us that she had requested to be on Carnival and was put on Harmony. She told us that the staff was “serious and grumpy” on Harmony as we were telling her that we were not enjoying our time. She is trying to get back on Carnival ASAP she said. Our final evening we were in the hot tub and met a couple who cruise Royal frequently. They encouraged us to try a smaller ship w/ Royal. They felt like Harmony was an understaffed ship and that was why the service was not good. We continued to make small talk and I asked why Royal doesn’t make any towel animals in the rooms. The couple told us that they had received one EVERY NIGHT. They said that maybe our room attendant didn’t know how to make them, made sense. They then mentioned their room attendant’s name … SHE WAS OURS TOO!! THIS COUPLE WAS ONLY 3 ROOMS DOWN FROM US. We were never so disappointed. We will never cruise nor recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone in the future! We paid a lot of money for this trip and typically only take 1 big vacation a year … complete waste. Never ever have I been so disgusted with myself for paying money for the service that we received. Read Less

We recently sailed on the Harmony of The Seas for the September 22, 2019 through September 29, 2019 itinerary which was scheduled to visit Perfect Day at Coco Cay, Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas and Phillipsburg St. Maarten. Our stateroom number was 6542 on the starboard bow. Sailing during hurricane season is a new experience for me and I had some anxiety leading up to the sailing, thinking our cruise may be interrupted due to a storm. I began checking the Royal Caribbean website every day, the week leading up to our cruise. Thankfully, there were no itineraries being affected by the multiple active storms at the time. About midway through the week leading up to our cruise, Tropical Depression Karen caught my attention. I continued to check diligently and to my surprise, there were no itinerary changes. I woke up on September 22nd full of joy and excitement. I couldn’t wait to take my one-year old son on his first Royal Caribbean Cruise. My wife and I are members of the Crown and Anchor Society and have been on our fair share of Royal Caribbean cruises. We were excited to visit St Thomas for the first time and to return to St. Maarten, one of our favorite destinations. I checked the website one more time before we left our house to drive to Port Canaveral. Once again, no itineraries being affected. We boarded the ship, started to explore, and got settled in. At about 4:13 PM the Captain came on the intercom and made the announcement that due to Tropical Storm Karen, we would not be sailing to St. Thomas or St. Maarten and no replacement ports had been chosen yet. I again checked the website and there had been no updates. We didn’t find out until the next day that Costa Maya and Cozumel were picked to replace our original ports. We fully understand the safety of the ships passengers and crew is paramount and Royal Caribbean does not control the weather, but Royal Caribbean can control the way information is disseminated and when it is disseminated. This is where our frustration lies. We would not have booked this cruise with the Mexican ports at all, especially for the price we paid. We do not feel we received the full value of what we purchased. We also would have seriously considered rescheduling or cancelling the cruise, had we known sooner about the change. Unfortunately, the way Royal Caribbean chose to handle this, left us with one choice, which was to stay onboard a ship which was leaving in 15 minutes. According to the International Cruise Passengers Bill of Rights, Cruise passengers have the right to timely information about itinerary adjustments related to mechanical failures or emergencies, and I think the same should apply to itinerary adjustments due to natural phenomena. This was not the case. We are not the type of family that makes decisions based on one bad experience, but we are human and were frustrated about this situation. Our situation only got worse when we tried to reasonably voice our concerns to Royal Caribbean. We were basically told too bad. Up to this point I hadn’t needed to use Royal Caribbean customer service for any issues an I am surely glad because their service is non existent. We did really enjoy the ship itself but our customer experience was atrocious. If I was to chose on service alone, I would never sail again with Royal Caribbean and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else do so either. Speaking on the ship, It was very clean and very easy to navigate. There was a lot of walking and stair climbing involved but we were able to do that with no problem. We ate at Izumi, Johnny Rockets, and Sabor while on board which are additional fee specialty restaurants. Izumi was similar to any hibachi we've eaten at before. Our one complaint with Izumi is they allowed us to book a 5:30 pm reservation and sat us on time but they made us wait until the 6:00 pm reservations showed up before serving us. Johnny Rockets and Sabor were very nice and our food was good at both. We used the kids splash area, which was large and was never crowded. The splash area is split into two sections for kids in diapers and those who are not. The area for kids in diapers was much smaller and most of the water features were too tall/big to play with. I went down both water slides and the Abyss which is a dry slide. All were very fun. We also used the marry go round on the boardwalk almost everyday. Read Less

My wife and I were on the Cruise from September 15-22, sailing out of Port Canaveral. We are both Gold members (I gained mine by marrying her!), and we had a lot of expectations that this ship...and cruise line... would do a lot to overtake Norwegian as the top line. Sad to say, that never happened. Before we even set sail, we had arranged for Valet Service for our baggage on Departure Day. We planned to place our bags outside our Cabin by 10PM on Saturday night, September 21, 2019. However, at about 8PM a young lady knocked on our cabin door and handed us a note. That note...which I have saved... may well make it into a Court of Law before this is all over! It advised us that we would NOT be having the Valet service as advertised, and that we would have to see to our own bags in the terminal! Mind you, we had flown into MCO...and were flying OUT of MCO... on both ends of this trip. We used Jet Blue, which is listed as being one of the airlines that is involved with the program. SUPPOSEDLY... (and here is where it gets dicey!)… Jet Blue had turned down our request for the service. We called them, and they did advise us over the phone that they had no idea what I was talking about. The letter from RCCL was not addressed to us by name, but to "Dear Guests"...something that I found to be offensive. They seemed quite unwilling to even talk with Jet Blue about this problem. Mind you, it was THEIR EMPLOYEE who delivered this letter to us, and the letter made numerous mistakes. It even said that we had to leave our bags outside our cabin on FRIDAY evening by 10PM for a SATURDAY departure. The problem with that? Our ship was returning to Port on SUNDAY MORNING, so we had to leave our bags outside our cabin on Saturday evening by 10PM. They gave us exactly TWO HOURS of notification, which was NOT enough time to resolve this mess. This is not the whole story of this disastrous cruise! I'd heard that RCCL likes to nickel and dime everyone, but found it hard to fathom how badly they did it! They brag about their buffet being...supposedly... the finest on the seas. Well, on the Norwegian Bliss we could easily get an omelet...to order... for breakfast. Was that possible in the RCCL buffet? NOPE! We had to go to "Johnny Rocket's" in order to find a decent omelet. But the crowning touch? Mind you, we are talking about a $1 Billion ship, and we were paying a lot of money for the cruise. Yet, when my wife went to an event at the theater, she was told that she'd have to pay an extra $2.50 for a little box of popcorn! I was surprised when she told me about it, so I checked it out. She was telling the truth! I stopped there and asked the man who was making the popcorn about it, and he offered to give me a box..."for free". I declined because I believed it was wrong for any one person to get a free box... while everyone else has to pay. It is not my norm to look for things to complain about. However, there were so many things that were just plain "wrong" about this cruise and this cruise line that it would take a really LONG message to go into all of them! We will be sticking with Norwegian Cruise Lines from now on, and have no plans to go on RCCL again...period! One other real problem: The casino allows smoking in one half, but there are no signs warning people that they are about to enter a smoking zone. For those of us who are highly allergic to cigarette smoke, it can be a real issue. My wife almost did not make it out of the smoking section before getting ill from the smoke. IF there had been NOTICEABLE SIGNS that were placed to warn the passengers, this would not have been a problem. But did RCCL take the time to place such signs where they could be seen? NO....and I did look all over the place. All I was able to see were the "international stickers" indicating "no smoking zones"... placed on the slot machines... down low so as to be almost out of sight. Read Less

My family and I, 11 individuals total, booked a family vacation and birthday cruise for myself. Days one through five on a seven day cruise were Horrible! We reported incidents to Guest Services as they occurred and there was little to no follow through. It took three requests for beds to be separated in one of the cabins, four of the six rooms were not clean nor being cleaned daily, the food was average and sometimes served old or cd, initial wait staff was rude and inconsiderate, dinner tables were separated versus together as booked, several activities on schedule unavailable due to lack of staff, elevators were not functioning properly, charged for birthday cake before receiving it that was not ordered and had to prove it was an error, venues for shows not adequately sized which led to people sitting on floors and stairs, specialty restaurant vouchers given could not be used due to over booking, and incorrect billing for beverage items included in package. After several attempts at resolution and promises to “make it right” nothing was done to appropriately remedy the situation. Definitely not worth the money spent and won’t do it again! My birthday was ruined!!! Read Less

This was our group of 6's first cruise and we were excited to get things underway. We booked flights with Air2Sea with the guarantee that there would be alternate flights available if there were any delays during our layovers. Lo and behold, we experienced a delay. When we got to the next airport station, we were told there were ZERO alternate flights available. We missed the cruise. Although they tried to make up for what happened by giving us stays in Orlando and later Cozumel, there was zero communication made with us unless we tried to call Royal Caribbean or Air2Sea first. We were promised to be updated on flight itineraries in the following morning; ultimately, we weren't updated until the night before, when we had to call them, only to find out that they made the flights without emailing or notifying us. We would have missed the flights if we didn't call. We were even told by one of the agents to "stop calling" when we were updating them on impending delayed flights. When we reached Cozumel by plane, we realized the agent did not book our hotel rooms at all. Air2Sea's international number also did not apply in Mexico (IMPORTANT TO KNOW) so we had to resort to Facebook after 2 hours of nothing else working. Finally, rooms were secured. On the day we were embarking, port security told us that 2 of the guests did not have their names on the embarking list. Apparently there may have been some miscommunication between Royal and Air2Sea. Again, we had to wait until this was resolved. When we eventually got on the ship, the experience was great! Onboard entertainment was amazing and the food in the main dining room was excellent. However, this was cut short when Hurricane Dorian happened and the ship's travel length was to be extended. Because some of us had strict work commitments, we had to leave at the next port, finishing our cruise early, cancelling our other flights, as well as having no compensation for booking these flights. In summary, we only experienced 3 of the 7 nights on the Harmony of the Seas. Although our time on the ship was amazing, the miscommunication between Royal and Air2Sea ruined our vacation. We received no compensation for the events that unfolded and this has soured our experience with Royal Caribbean. We will NOT be cruising with Royal again. Read Less

The service at dinner was great. And the visit to Magen’s bay was fantastic. Other than that, the weather was quite unpredictable, coco cay was not perfect, all excursions cancelled because of stormy weather, we were able to enjoy part of the day. Be warned that you cannot do lap swim on the ship, the pool is very small, crowded and dirty. Jacuzzi was good. They put the smoking section near the swimming pool. You will smell quite a bit of ship exhaust in the sports area and the aqua theater. The surf rider if you don’t know what you are doing don’t ride the surf, you can get seriously injured. The food was okay, most of it was salty. The breakfast and lunch have little variety, if you have a balcony get it at mid or front section to avoid the exhaust. GREAT ENTERTAINMENT, BAD SERVICE AND MEDIOCRE FOOD THE BAD RC has gone to new depths to encourage you to spend money. There is no comfortable seating anywhere in the ship, including your cabin, except in the bars. There is no place to sit and read a book. Indeed, there is no library on board. The only half decent food is in the specialty restaurants. So if you do plan to go, despite my warnings herein, add the cost of specialty restaurants to the price of the cruise and make your reservations early. Their on ship app is awful and frustrating, it has limited information, doesn’t always work, and doesn’t notify you if you get a message. So....you will have to buy the WiFi package. The upsell is constant and they must be under a lot of pressure to make quota because they won’t take no for an answer......so very annoying. The shops are over-priced, you can get the same thing in the overpriced tourist traps on shore cheaper. One thing of note, an 18% tip is added to all the bills and called a “service charge”. . So when you are contemplating a tip keep in mind that you have already given them 18%. For myself, I don’t appreciate the deliberate deception. Give great service for a great tip. THE UGLY MEDIOCRE FOOD. Looking forward to great food on your cruise? You won’t find it here. This ship falls way below standards. In main dining the chef does a decent job of cooking the meat properly, but the meat is of the poorer cuts and such low quality that it is tough to cut and chew. The sauces are watery and served skimpily, perhaps a tablespoon. I can’t say if they are tasty as there is not enough served on your plate to make a determination. I don’t know what the eggs are, but they are not real eggs....powder maybe? Note: if you still take a cruise on this ship, there is a fried egg station hidden aft ..... we found it on Day 6. OJ is simply disgusting, not made from oranges. I could go on. Most of the alternatives for lunch, such as Johnny Rockets, aren't worth paying extra for. BAD SERVICE. The wait service in main dining is non-existent. They are quick to take your drink order and charge your account, but you can wait up to 17 minutes (we timed it one night) to have your food order taken. THE GOOD WONDERLAND SPECIALTY RESTAURANT In contrast, we ate at Wonderland one evening and experienced the best meal we had of our life. We have traveled around Europe and the US to some of the best restaurants, so that is saying something. The creativity, the imagination...and I’m talking about the food, not just the surroundings. Bread made into foam, clear tomato juice, meringue dessert in the shape of toadstools. The explosion of flavors as they hit your palette. I won’t spoil the awesome surprise with the smoking eggs and chocolate dessert. Don’t let the menu dissuade you, this is an experience not to be missed and be prepared for the gastronomic experience of your life! THE GOOD GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. I was very impressed with the variety of entertainment and quality of the performers. The ice shows were spectacular. We saw 1887 and the iSkate show, the latter being one put together by the performers themselves. They are world class champions skating for your entertainment pleasure. The aqua show was equally outstanding. The stage rises and falls, the choreography is wonderful.....high divers, tight rope walkers, and a guy who twirls for 10 minutes. We asked, because we had to know, but apparently he meditates and that’s how he can do it for so long. The thing to keep in mind is that they are doing all this on a ship that rocks back and forth! There is also a lot to be said about the cool things on the ship. Imagine the elevator doors opening up and there before you in the elevator is a funky guy with a funky hat, singing and playing the piano.... a piano in the elevator! I rode up and down with him and had a jolly good time. So cool! Or you can order a drink and watch a robot make it for you! Too cool! Or you go sit at a bar in Central Park to have a drink and the entire bar rises and falls three stories! Or ride a carousel....on a cruise ship. Or how about watching a replica of the kinetic sculpture of Kafka in Prague (a silver head that turns around in sections). Hard to describe. Zip lines, water slides, this ship has it all. For us, this was our first and last RC cruise, even if they did improve the service and the food. In addition to the things discussed above, there is music everywhere. You cannot get away from it. Music in one area competing with music in another area. Then on top of that, the many passengers trying to talk above it all. Waiting long periods of time for the elevator because of the masses of people waiting for one.The lack of comfortable seating. The void of a place to go an sit quietly and talk or read. The awful food and service. I can spend my money on a ship far more enjoyable that doesn't confront you with a sales pitch at every turn Read Less

I paid 17k for the two bedroom family suite and received the most horrible service I have ever received on a cruise ship. We are frequent cruisers (over 120 days at sea) but this was our first and only Royal Caribbean. Embarkation went smoothly. It was nice to be met and checked in by someone with an Ipad but i am not fond of having to wait till my room is ready to get my cabin key. This limits your initial access to suite guest only sections (your key is what opens the door) and makes taking advantage of your beverage package difficult. The 2 bedroom family suite is nothing fantastic or over the top. Basically two standard cabins made into one. Nice to have the whole family in one suite but def no luxury for the price. PRETTY BASIC One of the two bathrooms had a bathtub but the other was super tiny (like one in a lower lever cabin where shower doesn't even have a pan you stand on the actual tile floor of the bathroom) The balcony was very spacious and added a good spot for older children to hide from the younger ones. Room service had a nice assortment. Was especially nice to be able to order a whole pizza. Normally stateroom staff go out of their way to help make you comfortable and happy. This particular staff didn't seem to care one way or the other. The didn't even learn our names. Normally by day 2 the cabin steward is greeting you by name or at least remembers you special needs. When you have 8 family members in a suite 6 towels aren’t going to get it! We had to BEG BEG BEG daily for sufficient towels. One of our children become ill and when we called at 9:30 pm and asked for new linens we were RUDELY told by the lady on duty that she was alone and that it was going to be awhile we would just have to wait. There was a special section at the pool reserved for suite guests. This area had nicer chairs with comfy cushions. There was not a waiter assigned to the suite section. If we needed a drink we had to walk to the bar and wait. Our 22 month old was WALKING BACK AND FORTH in the ankle deep water at the pool (there was no kiddie pool) and we were asked to remove her from the pool because she wasn’t “toilet trained”. Keep in mind there was a group of 4 grown men in the pool drinking beer that HAD NOT GOTTEN OUT FOR OVER TWO HOURS, ONE HAS TO WONDER WHERE WERE THEY URINATING. For Royal Caribbean to feature the only two bedroom “family” suite, they ARE NOT FOND OF CHILDREN. I paid 2k for a 22 month old to be in the ship and she wasn’t welcome in the pool and if we wanted child care for any reason there was an extra charge. If they know they don’t have any services for a toddler why charge full ticket price. The one night we did use child care the workers seemed nice. They were very high pressure about scheduling child care ahead of time. It was difficult for us to know when we might need child care so after day 1 we just kept her with us. Our 6 year old was super excited to go to child care the first night (she loves being with other kids) but after being there one time she didn't want to go back. She said it was boring. We purchased the excursion to Atlantis but ended up passing up the bus ride and hired a taxi. It was just taking way to long to get everyone organized. Once we were issued bracelets for the water park we left the group. CocoCay was the highlight of the trip. We purchased a large cabana at Chill Island. The service on the island was impeccable. I truly wish we could return to this island without taking another RC cruise. I could go on and on but to sum it up DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR VALUABLE FAMILY TIME ON RC. I don't believe the price structure they use is proportional to the service they offer. I hope they spend my 17k well because it is the last they will ever see from this family of avid cruisers. This was my 9th and LAST RC cruise. It started with the most disorganized safety breifing and got worse fron there. The VOLUME of music is intended to cause hearing loss. Not just the venues, the music playing around the ship. The pool deck is so loud you cant hear someone speak directly in your ear. There are NO quiet places to smoke and only one quiet place without A/C to play games. Don't ask the crew where or when anything is- they do not know or care. We tried Trivia but the two spermalougers were snarky, condescending jerks. RC sold us a cabin with noise intrusion nightly (from an aqua show) without telling us. We gave RC four weeks to apologize, refund, or respond and we got nothing. The Columbus Musically has multiple burping lines. It's a cross between Pirates of the Pinzance, spring time for Hitler. To say it was terrible would be to give it too much credit. There were plenty of things to do for an upcharge- escape room, specality resturants, zip lining. The Kareoke bar is only open for two- three hours per day even though it is a kareoke specific bar called "on air". Generally open from 11pm u til 1:30 AM. Not all of us need liquid courage. Having been a fan of royal and it’s sister ships - this was a huge disappointment. I chose this ship that was suppose to have a dreamworks program catered to little kids. After paying in full I was told the program was canceled and nothing would be replaced. I paid 500 dollars for an almost 2 year old to sit a one mini splash pool. The best part is kids wake up early and the pool doesn’t open to 10. The last day the filter was broke and we couldn’t even go in for hours. LocAted right next to a larger splash park that she couldn’t go in with a diaper or any other pool on the ship. I was told there would be multiple options of things to do with a young child - ok great if I want to put my baby in an indoor playroom on vacation NO THANKS. Do a Disney Cruise is all I can say. The food was about good as a cafeteria in a hospital and lines for places to pay were a mile long for also mediocre food. 150 central dinner upgrade was the only positive thing I can say about this cruise. Service awful, out of everything form drinks to hot dogs, they never had anything. I haven’t taken a royal cruise in many years and will never again. Celebrity has always lived up to its expectations but with a child I was told Royal was the ship- NO go If you dont want to be nickel and dimed for every penny you spend skip this cruise line. I am a person happy to spend money on a trip especially for my baby girl. I have cruised on most lines and vacationed from beaches to the best resorts. Thank goodness we are going to Disney world after this or id be so upset right now. Lesson learned I will spend my money elsewhere where by daughter can actually have things to do like the characters and parades that i paid for but we’re canceled. Let me say I never write reviews but this really upset me. Hope those who read it deeply consider before booking Read Less

This was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean, I was looking forward to a fun, relaxing time. My girlfriend is legally blind, she has low vision, so we always contact the cruise line ahead of time to make sure she is comfortable enough with the ship and the itinerary, as we have done with the three previous cruises we have been on with other cruise lines. None of what Royal Caribbean said ended up happening, this includes large print menus and cruise compasses. I realize that this really doesn’t affect most people, but for people with disabilities, especially a visual disability, rely on feeling safe on a ship to be able to enjoy themselves. Now on to the ship itself. CABIN: The cabin was your standard ship cabin, although, it was the smallest balcony we have had. The cabin itself was worn looking. There were stains on the couch cushions, and throughout the carpet. For some reason, all of the wood, desk, cabinets, etc. were really sticky. We had to wipe everything down before feeling comfortable in there. FOOD: the food was wildly inconsistent, and was ok at best. We did not eat at the buffet at all. The food in the dining rooms lacked flavor and any sort of creativity. The pizza at the promenade cafe was pretty good. We ate breakfast in the dining room every day. One thing that bothered me about breakfast service is, they had a buffet set up in the middle of the dining room. The was strange to me, if I wanted a buffet, I would’ve went to the buffet. It felt like they were trying to get away from serving the guests. The worst part of breakfast was that they couldn’t even make fresh toast, it was just sitting in a basket, and was rock hard. SHOWS AND ENTERTAINMENT: we didn’t see the ice show or the stage production. Our biggest issue here was the fact that they kept changing the schedule for shows and events. We saw the comedian at the welcome show on the first night, he was funny, so we were looking forward to the other comedy shows. This ship has the new Royal Caribbean app, which has the full schedule for the entire cruise available. The schedule for the comedy show kept changing, in the end, the only other comedy show was on the last night at midnight, had to be off the ship early the next morning, great job. We also love playing trivia while on the ship. The entertainment staff couldn’t even do this right. One time, a crew member came down to play the completely wrong game, and told us we were wrong, a moment later, the lady came over to host our game and had to tell the other guy he was in the wrong place. Another time, actually later on the same night, we went for trivia, and the host actually played the trivia game from the night before, wouldn’t listen to us when we tried to tell him. PORTS: We did not get off the ship at Nassau, this was our third time there. At the new Coco Cay, we rented a bungalow on south beach. We were told the shuttle will bring you right to the bungalow area, no, got dropped off about a half mile down the beach through deep, soft sand. There were plenty of servers around to take drink orders, they just didn’t walk around much at all, not one server walked near our bungalow all day. The island is beautiful though. OVERALL SHIP CLEANLINESS: the refurbishments on this ship are beautiful, but was still probably the dirtiest ship we have been on. Banisters were dirty, carpets were dirty. We never saw anybody cleaning, which is uncommon for a cruise. We saw staff riding the elevator, just not wiping anything down. This was our fourth cruise in the last three years, and this was the first time we did not enjoy ourselves at all. My girlfriend actually felt scared going around this ship. Read Less

We have been on many cruises. First time on Royal Caribbean. Worse, boring, and not friendly Cruise ever!! No entertainment on the pool area deck. The DJ was terrible in the Viking Lodge ,stopped the music, and turned on all bright lights every time someone spilt a drop or dropped a drink. The centerium area of the boat was mostly dead and the bar was design were your back was to entertainment area. The ship was old and didn’t looked kept up. There were a few issues with the electronic part. Even the guy doing (employee) music trivia complained about the age and out dated equipment. Honestly felt like we were at a floating nursing home. If bingo is your thing, Royal Caribbean Cruise is for you. On a positive note, we did like that the drink package was unlimited and usable off the boat. CooCay was very nice and well kept. Pool was clean and service was decent. CooCay was definitely the best part of the whole trip. Never again! Carnival ships in the future. Read Less

I choose this cruise because of the destination and the pictures on the web. However, I quickly found out that this boat was not at all how it looked on the site. The paint was peeling on the wall of the boat inside and out. Crew was painting areas of the boat throughout the trip. The boat had nothing exciting to do. The arcade only had 4 games. It was the size of a closet. The pool was over run by children day in and day out. The hot tubs were consistently occupied by children And they were supposed to be open 24 hours but were closed each day before the pools as well. This was not a boat for couples or married pple. Only families with small children. The food was less than average and our beds were like sleeping on a slab of concrete. We had back pains every morning and tossed and turned all night. Cococay Beach was horrible. It was under construction and there was basically nothing to do there at all. Nothing like we expected. Total disappointment. Read Less

This ship is old and either in need of a huge refurbish or it should just be retired. It was difficult for handicapped people to get from one floor to the next in certain areas because the elevators did not stop at every floor. The rooms were so small you could hardly walk between the wall and the bed. Even the room attendant had trouble making the bed. There is limited number of drawers and the shower had a curtain. There is a running deck over deck 6 rooms and every morning we were awakened by staff rolling carts or by joggers. The dining was also bad. In the captain's club, there was a long black hair baked into a piece of chicken wrapped in bacon. At the buffet there was hair in the fruit. The culture of the staff on this ship needs to be changed from the top down. While some of the staff was friendly and what you would expect, the majority looked liked they didn't want to be there and were at times rude. The wait staff we had in the dining room need to get other jobs. Couldn't get water refills, the head waiter never had anything but a scowl on his face. We ended up eating in the buffet after two nights. The buffet was limited in choices and the Gluten Free options were few. The ship does not tag which foods are gluten free, so every meal, a manager had to be called. They also did not have separate lines for diamond plus and higher at embarkation so it took an hour to get through the line. We did not realize it was spring break and the college kids were constantly drunk and somewhat rude--blocking aisles, etc. Never saw so much bare skin in one place. Could not get to a bar to order a drink. It was awful for the families with little kids on board. Read Less

Because I have been on this ship 20 times..We are higher level" Diamond Plus" members of their incentive program..Now the truths.. The ship is fun and the good parts can;t be beat...Here goes: 1. Hundreds became sick on the Oasis, the cruise was shortened...Royal Caribbean refuses to put simple paper toilet seat liners in the public restrooms to save money..This is disgusting as men are forced to sit on toilet seats that have been peed on... 2. Pool deck toilets for men expose men peeing, about 5 at a time to anyone walking by..Women,children, all people. The door opens and there are 5 urinals in full sight, not screened...This is an insult and fully wrong No small kid should be exposed to this.. 3.Royal Caribbean lies to thousands at a time and exposed passengers to potential health risk's by advertising in the daily Compass news letter, ''Frozen Yogurt: is served in the machines poolside..No way..It is a fake FROZEN DESSERT MIX...It was pointed out, changed in print for the remainder of the week, then advertised as yogurt the next week... 4.Food in the Windjammer Buffet has been highly downgraded, is starchy and greasy... 5.Room service, a staple of cruise enjoyment is now charged for and it is an expensive charge. This was very disappointing for passengers.. 6.The production show "Cats" is unwatchable for 1 1/2 hours..It is just people in cat outfits, snarling at one and another. 7. The casino machines are set to make it highly improbable for anyone to win.Much different than Las Vegas 8.The gym has old, dirty, broken machines, some unsafe..There are no attendants, and it is a disgrace...If you are a gym type person, you will be mad..It is a rip off... 9.The $45.00 per week soda machines are always broken, another rip off.. 10. First off I want to start by saying we were on the cruise that got returned to port a day early, were aloud off at Haiti, but were not aloud off at Jamaica and Cozumel. Started out as a smooth boarding process, nice, get on the boat and our rooms are no where near our family as they were suppose to be in fact they arent even in the ballpark of close. But 2nd day we tries to make the best of a bad situation because I was suppose to have a room next to my parents so when our kids were asleep my husband and I might be able to check out the night life of the cruise. We get off at our first port Haiti which was beautiful I'd never been there before, had lunch had drinks it was a great time, get back on the ship and everything does a 180. Nero Virus. My son who was upstairs in the kids section got closed because kids were throwing up on everything, they closed the free play area so our 1 year old really didnt have anywhere to play other than on the floor which everyone was throwing up on. That night my husband and I also unfortunately got sick. Tried to give her to my mom who was not sick but my father , and grandmother were sick and they had not place for people who werent sick to go to sleep. Then our son got sick who is 5. So we had to stay in with him till he had clearance to go out of the room . Then our 1 year old got sick. We didnt even get to come out of the room to experience anything on the ship. Royal Caribbeans daycare after our son was cleared gave our sons Nike jacket to some other kid. Then on top of everything else mixed up the quarantine that was suppose to be on my daughter and put in on my sail and sign card, they would not let me off the ship with my kids and my family and I had all the medicine for her. From start to finish just a horrible experience. By the time you started feeling better someone else in your party started feeling terrible getting sick all over the place. Pick a place, fly to it. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel I have the duty to do so as a public service announcement before you spend your hard earned money and coveted vacation time. We are a family of four with teenaged children. We are both healthcare professionals and have extensively travelled all over the world. This was our 7th cruise, third with RCCL. Here is the review of the ill-fated Jan 6th cruise: First impression of the ship: It was dirty. This being our 7th cruise- first thing my children noticed was that nobody asked us to sanitize our hands entering the ship. A few steps in the ship, the glass counter on the watch display case in the center of the ship had so many fingerprints on- it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for days. I cannot remember seeing a display case with so many fingerprints anytime and anywhere in my life. In the room, the carpet was dirty and under the bed was a thick layer of dust. The bedding had an odour that wasn’t from a detergent. We both felt it smelt like a man who slept in the bed before. The sheets were obviously fresh, so we think it could have been coming from the duvet. Dining: Windjammer: Again the first few days, sanitary conditions lacking. Typical cruise ship cafeteria style with limited opening hours. Only went there for breakfasts and 2 lunches. Windjammer supposedly closes at 11 for breakfast. At 10:48, the supervisor comes around and barks aggressively “interrupt, interrupt, interrupt” over my head- as the guy on the other side of the counter was handing over a slice of toast to me. The guys then dutifully and frantically start putting away the trays and literally pulling the food right from under your hand. Similarly, they start closing the sliding doors to the cafeteria as though a vault is closing. Dining hall: the food served in the main dining hall in the evening is at best mediocre. Essentially the same menu is served every night with the exception of the lobster night. I think this is done to encourage people to try the specialty restaurants, as they get sick of getting the same awful food night after night. Unfortunately, RCCL doesn’t realize people will stop coming to your cruises after you push the boundaries of mediocre too far. Dear RCCL: If we paid thousands of dollars on the flight, hotels, transfers, and cruise ship, we can afford a slice of bread to feed ourselves. We are not a charity case where you think you can pull away a slice of bread at 10:48! And your cafeteria operation is not space shuttle take off- where you must “interrupt” with such panic due to a malfunction! Furthermore, your crappy cafeteria food is not a precious vault where you have to close it with such vengeance to passengers who paid pretty penny for this vacation! It is offensive. Labadee, the first and only port the ship stopped at: The private RCCL beach property---We rented a pricy cabana at the far end of the property, which was nice. The food is served in an open pergola- some chicken was BBQ’d on site, and some food was brought in from the ship. The major problem with this port, however, was the flies. There were literally thousands of flies on the food as it was being served. There is an open washroom area next to the food pergola and the flies are in both places. In all our extensive travels all over the world, I do not recall ever seeing this many flies on food being served ever! Unfortunately there is no other area to eat on this private property and so you either eat the food with flies or starve your children all day or you leave your pricy cabana and return to the ship. Dear RCCL: Do you know that flies are a major vector of infection spread? And do you know having flies that circulate between the toilets and the eating area next to it can spread gastrointestinal bugs and more? If you do, why do you keep serving the only food available under these conditions? If you can’t run a food-safe operation in Labadee, why don’t you allow people to take pre-packaged food off the ship instead? Or serve people brown-bagged lunch from the ship? The Norovirus outbreak: Needless to say, and not to our surprise, the next day after Labadee, we find a young child vomiting in the staircase as we were going up for breakfast. Suddenly, the staff was insisting on hand sanitizers. The communication was limited. The information given to us was not factual. The number of guests on board on the first letter sent to our stateroom was quoted as 9000 (it said 2% of 9000 people on board are sick)- However, it is my understanding the ship cannot have 9000 passengers even at full capacity. We were told on embarkation the cruise was not full and there were around 5400 on board. Their last announcement said 480 passengers were sick- but on the last day, judging from the sheer number of yellow stickers on quarantined rooms, I hardly doubt the reported number of 480 passengers was correct! The absolute worse: The ship crew was sent into absolute frenzy with RCCL version of “cleaning” which was beyond ridicules and, as a health care professional, I know it is ineffective. An army of workers with a bucket of dirty water and some kind of cleaning solution was sent around the ship to “clean” every surface. However, this crew obviously had no training on cleaning essentials. Watching the dirty water in the buckets being indiscriminately smudged on the rails, garbage cans, tables, mirror in the elevator, walls was truly repulsive. Water was dripping from the rails everywhere. One guy was assigned to our hallway to wipe all our stateroom handles- so he walked on the hallway with his rag and bucket every five minutes just pouring the dirty water and his dirty rag from one end of the hallway to next--- essentially transferring all the germ from one stateroom to next. Our next-door staterooms both had the virus- so they basically transferred their gems on their handle to our handle! Every time we needed to get in the room, the door handle was dripping wet with sticky fluid (which is the perfect medium for transferring infections). All the railing on the ship were sticky so bad that my elbow got stuck when I inadvertently leaned on one on the 15th floor. The garbage can tops, the railing, and the elevator buttons were cleaned with same rag and water. And then the same rag was used on the walls and mirrors of the elevators! This is how NOT to clean! The army of fluorescent yellow vest wearing crew with a dirty bucket and rag on hand without a clue or care as to what they were doing- in addition to another army pushing hand sanitizers every few seconds- gave an impression of 1- nobody knew what they were doing 2- we were institutionalized/ under captivity. Dear RCCL: I urge you to ask experts in infection control to teach you how to clean properly. Better yet, at no cost to you, watch a YouTube video on proper cleaning techniques and teach your crew. Have you ever been to a hospital where water was dripping from every surface? Does that even seem logical way of cleaning? Your so-called cleaning was deplorable, unprofessional, ineffective and contributed to your outbreak! Read Less

We missed the fact that there was no C & A Top Tier Party. Also no champagne at the Captain's welcome. The weather was bad so we missed Coco Cay and we were told that we could not go there on our sea day since there was another ship calling there. However I have been on more than one cruise where more than one ship has called at Coco Cay at the same time. We did the Rainbow Reef snorkel in Nassau and it was great! The service was good both in the dinning room, windjammer, and at the bars. We did find that many of the tables in the lounges needed to be better wiped down, most were sticky around the edges and underneath. We have another trip on her because of the ship change and hopefully things will be better. Read Less

My husband and I have only cruised Royal Caribbean in the past and figured let's take our daughter for her first cruise for my husband's 40th birthday and Halloween. What a giant waste of money. RC has really gone down hill. Seems like RC keeps spending their money on advertising and private islands but not investing into their ships and staff. Here are some of the complaints that I pointed out to Royal Caribbean. ● Our room was dirty. o As soon as you walked into the room the first day it smelled like body odor. The odor was very strong for most of the trip. It was primarily by the outside of the bathroom (Not in the bathroom) and the closet. Once you moved past that area the smell was not as strong. We were very thankful that we had a balcony so we could open the door to get fresh air. o The shower light in the bathroom didn’t work the entire time we were there. We had asked our stateroom attendant to fix twice and he never did. o The room was overall dirty. My daughter found plane tickets and other items in the cabinets and drawers that were from May 2018. o My husband had to open the fold away couch to see if my daughter’s blanket was folded in there and was disgusted of how dirty it was inside and under. o With how dirty the room was, my husband and daughter’s severe allergies were triggered and both of them had a hard time breathing. Thankfully I had packed all necessary medications and breathing treatment equipment required for them. o Our first evening we all wore white socks in our stateroom, and after about 15 minutes of unpacking our socks were blackened. We couldn’t walk barefoot in our room without being disgusted. ● Halloween o When I booked this trip over the phone with a Royal Caribbean representative, I specifically asked what was done on the cruise ships for Halloween. This is my family’s favorite holiday, especially my daughter, and we wanted to make sure she would have an amazing experience and would not miss not being home. The representative placed me on hold to look into and stated the cruise ship does Trick or Treating for the children and a costume contest. o The week before the cruise I called Royal Caribbean twice to find out more information about the events that would be happening on the ship and no one could answer my questions. o On the cruise, we asked multiple times about the plans for Halloween with many crew members and none of them knew what was going on or how to find out. o Halloween was the day we ported in St. Thomas, when we were getting back on the ship, they informed us that there was Trick or Treating on the main promenade from 4-6 pm for the children, so we immediately went upstairs to change into our costumes. When we arrived back downstairs, there was only one spot that had candy left at 4:15. My daughter received one piece of candy……I do not understand how a cruise line could not have better planned for the trick or treating and making sure there was enough candy for everyone. Royal Caribbean knows how many children are going to be on board. Also, the staff should have been better informed about how to distribute the candy so there was candy left after 15 minutes. Many parents that we spoke to were very upset with how the trick or treating played out. o The costume party – was very unorganized, no one knew where they had to go unless they were regular cruisers of the cruise ship. o Overall, Halloween was a large disappointment and my daughter was very upset and confused about what transpired. ● Excursion o My husband and I decided on the cruise to book an excursion for St. Thomas. I went to the excursion desk to book a tour guide/sightseeing tour (Panoramic St. Thomas Island Drive). The excursion desk asked what our goal from this excursion was and I told them it was to get amazing photography from it. As it is their job to sell you, they upsold me to the (5 Star Island Tour). This tour was 6 hours instead of 2 and almost triple the cost but they guaranteed there would be a lot more photography opportunities on this excursion. Well they were absolutely wrong about this. I went back to the desk the following day to complain and they offered me a 15% refund and would pass the request on that I was asking for a 50% refund. Never heard anything further. ▪ Excursion Details – The excursion was to be 6 hours long and make 3 distinctive stops and stop on the way up and down the mountain for scenic shots. Our driver never stopped going up or coming down the mountain because he stated there were too many tourists stopped at each scenic stop so he kept driving. This was one of the main reasons we booked this excursion was for the scenic shots. At the top of the mountain we were given 30 minutes to get down to the shop and back to the bus to leave for the next stop. It was not much time since we didn’t stop anywhere for photos on the way up. Then our driver almost left behind a couple because they were a few minutes behind. Next we drove down the mountain to Magen’s Bay Beach for 2 hours. On the way down, again we didn’t stop for any photos like the excursion team said we would do. At the beach we were dropped off and the tour guide left with his vehicle and told us to meet him back there in 2 hours. Again, we almost left the couple that was late returning on the first stop, until we really pushed the driver to wait. Next we made the drive Charlotte Amalie’s Shopping district in which we were given an hour to walk around. The driver was then 20 minutes late picking us up and he left the couple that was continually late and didn’t even bother to wait. We were back to the ship within 4.5 hours not 6 hours. If we would have stopped for pictures we would have been at 6 hours but the excursion was not as long as specified and we did not get the pictures opportunities that the excursion team stated we would. ● Cruise ship was dirty and understaffed o Overall the cruise ship felt very dirty. For example, we went to take our daughter to the Kid’s Club for a family activity and as my husband and I walked around, we both looked at each other and we were disgusted and how dirty it was. We would never leave our daughter there, it felt that gross. o The cruise ship also seemed to be understaffed. ▪ Little things were overlooked that were a standard before when cruising with Royal Caribbean. Such as fresh ground pepper with dinner, as we referred to it from past cruises (The drink guy, who went table to table) for drink orders and after dinner shots, and the overall presence of staff. ▪ The corridors seemed dirty and not maintained. ▪ The dining staff seemed to be running thin and were trying to cover too many tables. ▪ Our room attendant seemed to be caring for too many rooms that details and small things like the towel animals were overlooked. My daughter even noticed and said loud enough when we walked into the room one night….another night without an animal….That is sad to hear when your child is disappointed about a simple thing. ● The overall staff seemed to be under-educated about the events on the ship and proper protocol for certain things. o Example – On our first stop to Nassau, the captain made an announcement before sailing time that we were waiting for additional guests and would be delayed. Then he came back on and stated we all needed to return to our staterooms for a manual attendance. This took over 2 hours to complete. (Sorry, if this was a real emergency, it should not take 2 hours.) What my husband and I found out later is this was due to the computers shutting down at the port and the cruise ship employees just let the guests on board without scanning their sea passes, which then left the attendance short of everyone on board. What should have happened if the setback took longer than 15 minutes to reboot computers is the employees should have written down the names of the guests and their room numbers and then it would have been a quick cross check. Instead we were delayed by 2 hours. ● In an effort for the captain to make up lost time due to the delay in departing Nassau, he sped up the cruise ship. This made for a very bumpy ride. I actually experienced sea sickness for the first time, and I have been on a cruise with Royal Caribbean in a tropical storm that produced 50 foot waves. We even missed a port on the cruise and never experienced sea sickness. I even asked employees that I could find if the ship was normally that rocky and they said no, it was due to the increased speed to make up the time. No offense I would have rather had less time on St. Thomas then have sea sickness all day. ● The food quality and standards. o My husband and I felt that the overall food quality significantly decreased since our last cruise. There was less of a selection of food options and it felt like they repeated every other day. The meat quality seemed to be subpar to what we have received before. The food was just okay that we felt obligated to pay for other restaurants on board and unfortunately the only one we really had appropriate clothing for was the Mexican restaurant on the boardwalk. o We felt that the chefs were just rushing to get the plates out and didn’t put that extra time into the presentation detail. These were my overall complaints to Royal Caribbean and here is what they offered after going back and forth for 2 months the only thing they were willing to offer me and my husband was $435 credit towards our next cruise and 1 night of special dining........I am sorry i spent over $3k and that is all they are willing to do.....horrible customer service. RC doesn't even stand behind their product anymore, they used to care about their guests and now they only care about the dollar signs. Truly disappointing that one of my husbands and my favorite ways to vacation is no more. I used to speak highly about them to anyone that asked about cruising and i have to say i will not be doing that anymore. Read Less

Pretty bad experience on this cruise.... Firstly the ship is pretty small, and a little dated. Ok where do i start, we were not treated well at all by our stateroom person, he was not ever polite, never greeted us period, and only said good morning to us last morning as we were leaving after i had conversation with him prior day about his lack of manners. The internet which is called "voom" is no such thing, we paid $15.99 a day for 4 days for what was sporadic internet with no ability to post any pictures or messages that took hours to upload, and my whatsapp which is only way to keep in touch with family would take an hour at a time to post message, when i complained their only solution was i should upgrade to $19.99 a day for better internet, huh? Its $4.00 a day on carnival and you cant provide quality for $15.99? I hate being nicke and dimed! So second morning we went for breakfast in dining room, we had shared table with 3 other couples, waiter recommended omelette with everything so we all agreed although some ordered preparedness different as well as varied sides, the waiter came back with 5 plates, not mine, and placed every plate with wrong person, then asked me what i ordered... Smh... Brought mine 5 minutes later, and after two bites i noticed long hair underneath my omelette and got nauseous immediately! I complained and got up right away to leave, manager was also upset and asked us to return that night for complimentary champagne, which we did but didnt return to eat there again, ate on deck 9 rest of cruise. Ok biggest disappointment was we booked cruise for rccl's private island cococay, that was the draw, we hurried off second day to get to island, we took the shuttle, and proceeded to beach, looking forward to long day of beach and bbq on beach, music, fun, etc, but after only 30 minutes we were forced out of water and told to leave island forced to leave like prisoners, that captain deemed water to rocky, i believe there were only 3 shuttles that made it on actually before having to leave, this same thing happened to us in january 2017 on majesty of the seas but we were not even allowed off on that trip, so we were pretty bummed, the captain thought it was good idea to head to nassau immediately, which was supposed to be 3rd day itinerary, we arrived at night in nassau, we did not get off as it was nighttime in nassau and its already pretty seedy during daytime, being hassled to braid hair or buy drugs. The entire trip was rocky, my wife got seasick on two of 4 days, i called rccl the day after i arrived back and complained, they said they would do investigation and get back to me in 3-5 days, its 8 days later and havent heard a word from them, prior to this cruise i had that royal would be my from now on preferred cruise line, we've done 12 cruises in last 3 years, on troyal, carnival, and norwegian, had great cruise oct 2017 on royal, but this one was horrible, not traveling on enchantment of the seas again, and think i'll give another spin on carnival next cruise!
