One of the worst, most humiliating experiences of my life. Due to a noise complaint I was forced out of my room, forced to answer questions under duress to security, forced to talk to two doctors, and then locked in my room for 30 hours despite the doctors telling them to let me go, that everything was fine. The ship captain is an egomaniac who made the decision and refused to talk to me. The doctor didn’t understand why they were doing it but wouldn’t get involved. Security was either on a power trip or were complete cowards. Even if none of that had happened, it was still a terrible liner. The rooms were terrible. Paint was scrapped, desk was chipped, heat didn’t work so the room was freezing and the shower water didn’t got hotter then lukewarm. Despite them promising to fix those last two, it never happened. The gym equipment was old and terrible. The free weights were all banged up. Half the treadmills couldn’t go over 7 mph. I did a body composition analysis and the machine was obviously broken as it popped out numbers that were clearly impossible. They still managed to charge $45 for it though. They screwed you with pricing for the wifi, $15 a day and it was the worst WiFi imaginable. It could barely load pictures. They charged an outrageous price for the drink package and all the bars desperately needed updating. All of the guns were broken, and nothing was refrigerated so if you got a drink with ice, it immediately melted, ruining the drink. You could never use the pool or hot tubs as they were always full of children. There needed to be some adult only locations so we could enjoy these amenities. The crew did there best but were clearly overworked and underpaid. It was hard not to tell bad for them, and this alone had me convinced never to book with royal Caribbean again. I went on a Birthday party trip for a family member. The food was not good nor was a variety of free food available during party hours on the boat. We kept having to pay for food. We had to pay for sodas. The sofa table was hard and uncomfortable. No mattress was given. We complained every day and was not accommodated at all. We were given extra blankets to pad the hard surface but that did nothing to help. They only accused us of trying to get a discount. I called customer service after we got off the boat also and still got no satisfaction. I was told that they had no record of me complaining until the last night and that blankets were given to me. They basically didn't believe me. That was my last and final cruise with Royal Caribbean. Don't cruise with them, choose another company‼ Read Less

The trip to hell and back! Electric extension cord was promised to us,at noon, we needed for medical equipment didnt come until midnight Heater broken froze over night They blamed balcony door handle not closed then finally next day tech came and fixed it he had to clean out the equipment. Sink was clogged. Not enough hangers in state room. We requested coffee and Breakfast room service, we put tag out to com at 8am, THEY came at 6 am on the 1st morning woke us up and also called. In Florida no breakfast came even though we left tag out night before. Called room service and on hold for so long no one picked up we gave up Food finally came we we were gone. Not enough bar waiters Lagoon trip very disorganized Had to inquire about where was our group and then found out we needed wristbands had to go to the back of the line then the guy never gave us our lunch tickets On the blue lagoon boat the restroom was out of order.! Spoke with guest services and he took some notes and will have someone get back to me they offered us 20 % off. For that excursion. The coco cay island is geared for kids, no adult only beach, so be aware of screaming kids all day. Machines broken in fitness center. The balcony glass was dirty, i had to clean it myself. Booked my first cruse and I did not read any reviews, what a mistake I made. I can not complain about the room, meals or entertainment on board ship. My complaint is with what they charge you for everything else that is not mentioned when you book. Example my husband drinks and I do not, when my husband wanted to buy the drink package for 3 days the charge was $307.98, but they would not sell him this until I bought a soda package for $113.28 I do not drink soda or alcohol, then if you wanted to use your phone you had to buy the WIFI package which was $80 dollars. I do not know how other cruse lines do this, but I will never do another cruise like this again. If this sounds ok to you, then by all means disregard this review and enjoy your cruise. Also when paying for other things ship personnel told me my debit card was declined and owed them money, I could not verify why card was declined and could not call bank, as it was the weekend. I was told that if I do not come up with the money I will not be allowed to leave the ship. When we came into port I called my father and told him what they said to me, I handed the phone to finance officer my father told them that he would give them his credit card number to take care of the bill, they told him that they do not except cards over the phone. Well I don't know how they were going to get payed then. My father also told them that if they were not going to let me off the ship that he would call the police and file charges against the cruise line. Also the ship was to dock in Miami at 6am my flight out of Ft Lauderdale was at 8am. The ship did not come into port until 7:30am and would not start letting passengers off until almost 9am. Well we missed our flight and could not get another flight out until the next morning, all this cost us another $200 plus a motel room and a day of work. So again what kind of cruise line does this to people, never again. Read Less

I will go in chronological order: (We are seasoned cruisers - first time on any RCI ship) CHECK IN - No one to guide us where to go. Stood in line for 30 minutes before Security suggested we check our bags and directed us where to go. After that stood in line for 45 minutes to Check In and Board ship. STATE ROOM - Smelled like sewer as we walked in. Room was not well maintained. Rust in windows, carpet worn, not a pleasant experience. DINING ROOM - Service was excellent. Joe, our server at breakfast and dinner was awesome. FOOD - All the food on the ship was very disappointing. The Buffet (Windjammer) was configured in a very strange way, making it difficult to know where the lines began and ended. Tables were not cleaned in a timely way, so hard to find a seat with a clean table to eat on. Food Example at Breakfast in Dining room - My husband ordered Cherry Crepes - The cherries were Maraschino cherries-UGH. Eggs were undercooked every order. If you wanted cream with your coffee, it was taken from another table, and once you used it, returned back to that table. Salt and Pepper shakers were always EMPTY. ACTIVITIES on ship during Cruise Days- Many had additional fees added to them. $3 to $12 depending on Activity. I have never paid additional fees for Activities on a cruise ship (Excluding SPA) $25. per towel to use for swimming! I said "Many" the Activities were very limited. Origami, Towel Folding, Bed Making, Hip/Hop lessons (that's great when most of the people sailing are over 60!!!) FlashMob lessons for Thriller and Footloose. The last cruising day there was not a posting for a movie in the Newsletter or Announcements. I was surprised as there had been a movie everyday before. By accident, we were walking by the theatre and there was a movie playing. The performers on the evening SHOWS - their costumes were not fitted and they looked like they had been to Goodwill to get them. Dancers and Singers were ok. Not in unison during performances. The Cruise Director was very irritating and we only saw her on the morning show telling us about all of great activities of the day. PRIVATE ISLAND - Most of the island was closed due to construction. We planned to sit by the water- but the seating was so limited we could only find a chair 5 rows BACK from the water. Many people who has been there before said it was a mess and they had never seen it like that. The interior of the ship had BROKEN TILES, RUST EVERYWHERE, DIRTY AND UNKEMPT, WORN CARPET. It was not a good experience. HEALTH - While they have hand sanitizer everywhere...I did not that all DISPENSERS used to get Water or other Drinks did NOT HAVE GUARDS on them to prevent people from taking their personal container and putting them into the dispenser. This is appalling as we are ALL trying to make sure no illnesses are spread person to person. I was sitting at the Peak View Cafe and a man walked up to the water dispenser, took a big sip of water from his personal water bottle, and then placed it on the dispenser to fill it up with water. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. This was our First RCI cruise and it was also our LAST! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had already sailed carnival a few times , and wanted to try what we heard was a step up. It was terrible! Just trying to get an elevator you could fit in was nearly impossible. We took the stairs 5-6 flights most of the day. Just up and down. The staff was unpleasant for the most part. There was definitely more unhappy irritated staff then there was happy and helpful staff. Food was regular cafeteria food. Not that great. Even the restaurants you pay for were subpar. They nickel and dime you for everything. Due to weather we were unable to dock one of the days at their island cococay. Understandable for safety, but they refused to refund our port and docking fees!! They basically stole that money. We couldn’t dock and had to stay at sea, so why are we being charged for it? Terrible! I bought the drink package and those were good. However, it’s a good thing I closely reviewed my bill. They had charged me over 100$ for drinks that were included with my package!! Those were refunded once brought to their attention. This cruise line was a complete scam! Oh, don’t forget to return your pool towel! That’s 25$ a piece. Room service is also an added fee with this company. Just trying to take money from you anyway they can. Also don’t get the Key!!!! They say you will have special times to use the on board activities without lines. Well those times are while you at port and normally off the ship exploring an island . So unless you don’t plan on getting off then you will miss those times. Also it says you get special seating for shows. Not true! The internet service it included was terrible! No one got decent service. The only thing it was good for was the welcome lunch and last day breakfast, ( The food wasn’t great) overall the key was a complete waist. The shows were not good either. Not worth it at all. We paid over 500 for a cabana on the beach. SAVE YOUR MONEY! Nothing special about them. They actually made it harder to explore , because they are so far away from everything else. They are literally on the edge of cococay ...farthest thing away. You pay 500+ to be near nothing! There were plenty of chairs open right by the ocean bar and food. Wish we had saved the money. Paid for a photo package. They didn’t have anyone taking pictures at dinner, or at our private cabana. You had to wait in lines with back drops for a picture.Do yourself a favor and Just take your own. Carnival was much better even though they say it’s a cheaper company. At least they didn’t steal money. Stay away from Royal Caribbean! Read Less

The cabin bathroom was filthy! Black mold in shower and the sinks faucet was caked in grime. Trying to reach customer service desk via phone was impossible it either rang forever or you would get caught in a automated loop. Complementary food was tasteless, their promenade café only served pizza and cheap sandwiches. The windjammer cafe was closed was too much, and the food selection subpar. The coffee bitter and they never had the creamers marked correctly. The cost of drinks were way over priced. The entertainment was B league at best they played movies on the pool deck which was impossible to watch during the day because of sun, the audio was choppy.I honestly don’t know why they couldn’t have played then In the theater. Over all it was dreadful I would not wish Royal Caribbean on my worst enemy. I will never sail Royal Caribbean again!! Keep clear at all cost. Read Less

Chose this cruise because of value and time constraints. Cruise port hard to navigate and understand because of lack of signage. On entering stateroom found shower had not been cleaned properly and had long dark hair on walls and floor. Offered a bottle of wine for our inconvenience. Traveling with a young child and they were not very accommodating at changing dining time to early. Dining room staff in evening were excellent but breakfast left a lot to be desired. Food was only warm and service was lacking. A few days into cruise found tiny ants (termite type) in our cabin. Their response from Hotel Mgr was “there cannot be bugs on our ships “. They finally saw them and only offered to move us to move us to deck 8 above the nightclub. IndicTed it was the only available room even though we had staff indicate they were down by approximately 400 passengers. They then offered us a future cruise credit which we declined. Then they offered us an onboard ship credit that we reluctantly accepted. First and last experience with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

I am not sure where I should begin. When we got into the room, my son looked behind the chair in the corner and found a dirty pair of underwear rolled up in a ball. Then at 3am on one of the nights I heard a huge crashing noise. Turns out a man jumped off the 11th floor balcony and landed right next to my window on the 6th floor. We had to do a detour to Miami so we could get him to the hospital since he was still alive. Then they spend the next several hours cleaning up the deck where he landed. When we arrived to Coco Cay we figured we would go to the beach first and then go to the water park. When we tried to go to the water park we were told they were sold out for the day. They have 2 boats at this port at the same time and this is just too many people obviously. The bathrooms on this private island are dirty and the toilets in some of the restrooms do not flush. In the eating areas there were ice machines and ice cream machines down. I was not able to get an ice cream cone due to the enormous lines. The food overall was so so. We figured the day we were leaving we would eat in the dining room. That was a mistake. The service was terrible. They brought out warm milk with the cereal, no syrup for the pancakes, no drink for my son and no bacon with my eggs. When I complained, the server told me "we will do better next time" This whole cruise is a cattle call. They try to get as many people on this boat as possible sacrificing service. Read Less

By far worst cruise i have been on. I took off work for 7 days for this cruise and it was horrible. I understand weather but it should have just got cancelled altogether. I am a mom and can only do vacation one time a year. The staff are very rude and i had my food before my drinks n i had to get the head waiter to get our drinks. We got to nassaeu for only 1 hour n had to pay port services and we couldnt do anything for one hour. I am very frustrated.I felt unsafe a couple of times. My own daughter told me that she wanted to go to the room because she wa s scared of everyone yelling n screaming n a fighy almost happenend n no secuirty or staff around on deck 2 n i had to call security n of course they took their good old time. I have never complained. I would like some kind of money back. One day cruise credit for 2 days we missed out on is not fair. Staff was very rude throughput cruise. They dont care about their passengers. I will never go on this ship again Read Less

My husband and I booked this to celebrate our Anniversary. One issue after the next from the time we got on the boat until the time we left. Food outside of the speciality restaurants was mediocre at best. We spent an extra day anchored in the bay due to bad weather causing us to miss 2 of our ports. I say 2 because we were only in Nassau from 1130pm until 1230am. The ship itself was run down. Common areas were dirty as well as the bathrooms. It is clear they don't value customer loyalty. There were some positives while on board but those all came with an extra fee. Chef's table and Giovannis were out of this world as well as the service received in the bar areas. Machines were without ice most of the time and bottled beverages were always warm. We would definitely love to cruise again but it won't be with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

My husband and I decided to go on this cruise for our honeymoon. What an absolute awful experience. We have both been on several other cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises as well and we both loved them so we figured this would be a perfect choice for our honey moon. We sailed out of Bayonne and getting on the ship was a breeze since we purchased The Key, if we hadn’t I’m sure it would have been an awful experience because when we arrived at 10:30am there was a ton of people waiting to board (even though our boarding passes said to arrive between 12:30-1pm, we decided to get there earlier) We had a balcony room and our room was dirty. The bathroom at times smelled like a port a potty. Our stateroom attendant seemed very overwhelmed and sometimes didn’t “clean” our room while we were out for breakfast and dinner so we would have to find her and ask her to make the bed. The beds are extremely extremely uncomfortable. After the second night my back was in agony. The food was atrocious. No matter which restaurant we went to, it was awful. Room temperature and tasteless. We also ate at jaimes Italian and chopps. I wasn’t impressed with either. Every time we ate, we were rushed. We would finish 3 courses in under 40 minutes. The buffet reminded us of school cafeteria food. Disgusting and every night it was like eating the same thing. The entertainment on the ship was awful. Shows that we were told were going to be amazing were mediocre and the comedian was awful and not funny. They didn’t really offer any new or different shows/comedians so by the 5th night after seeing everything, we didn’t know what to do. The staff were very rude/unfriendly and most of them barely spoke English so when asking them for a drink or simply asking them for information- they had no idea what we were talking about. Sometimes they even had to bring over another person to answer our question, which was very frustrating. Also, my husband and I went for a massage and after the massage was done, the masseuse came in and tried selling us products that they recommended for our “conditions” I have had a ton of massages in my life and have never experienced this before. They were so pushy and wouldn’t take no for an answer!!! It was so uncomfortable and ruined the whole massage experience. I’m guessing they make commission from these sales because the products were all over $100. The ports were nice. We went to Port Canaveral, which was ok. If you don’t plan on going to Disney or the Kennedy space center, there’s nothing else to do there. My husband and I just went to cocoa beach since we didn’t want to travel an hour to Disney and the space center tour was 8 hours. Coco Cay was amazing. We purchased a day bed and it was very nice and relaxing. Not many kids were in that area so it was nice and quiet and the free food that they offered was burgers, hot dogs and fries- which was honestly better than the food on the ship. Nassau was great too. We went to the Hilton hotel and got a day pass and spent the day there on their private beach. I recommend this to anyone who doesn’t want to go to Atlantis and deal with screaming kids all day. It was perfect! To sum it up, If anyone is interested in going on a cruise, look into another cruise line. It was not worth all of the money we spent on this trip. Read Less

I just want to warn anyone traveling on Anthem of the Seas, please learn how to look for bed bugs before you suffer the stress of being exposed to them. I am in constant fear that my home will be impacted. I experienced the horror of finding bed bugs crawling on the sheet of my bed. I killed one and scooped up another and took it to guest services in a plastic bag. We were exposed for days and it is absolutely unacceptable! We were moved to another cabin and our clothes were washed. I have reached out to Royal Caribbean to find out how my luggage was treated but they have not responded. My luggage is outside and will remain there until I decontaminate it myself or dispose of it. In addition to the bed bugs, the cabin sink drain and shower drain were full of mold. It makes me wonder if any cleaning took place at all. A far as the other aspects of the cruise, dining was okay. Some of the entertainment was good. Some was not so good. We did not like Spectra's Cabaret but The Gift was okay and We Will Rock You was good. My kids enjoyed the indoor skydiving as well as the activities in the Sea Plex. Getting on and off the ship was quick and easy. Service overall was fine but we did have difficulty making a reservation for specialty dining. We had a voucher that they would not honor. I had to go to guest services and have them intervene in order to make the reservation. I thought many of the excursions were on the expensive side and I also thought Co Co Cay was crowded when were there as two ships were in port. I took a while for us to find empty lounge chairs. I am not crazy about the fact that the ship visited Nassau as there is currently a travel warning about violent crime in Nassau. Read Less

The only thing I can say good about our cruise is that my teenage boys room steward, Rouston Rodrigues was Amazing. He not only cleaned my teenage boys room, made them animal towels, but interacted with them and my husband and myself throughout every day of our cruise. My husband and I saw our steward, Wilfred (I believe that was his name) only once when we boarded. In the Great Gatsby dining room, Shereen, our waiter and Noemi her assistant waiter always greeted us with a smile and was always courteous and generous with their time. We tipped all three of these employees very generously. We also appreciated that a RC employee was there tomake everyone hand sanitize before entering the Windjammer buffet. Sadly, many cruisers refused the hand sanitizer. Now, for the down side of our family trip. They was very little activitys to do, (for our teenage boys, my husband and myself) activity wise, unless my teenagers wanted to learn to dance the tango, attend wine tasting classes (they are only 14 and 15 yrs old) or play bingo. The rock climbing wall stayed closed throughout the entire cruise, They were told that they were “too young” (they are 14 and 15 yrs old) to workout in the gym and the shuffle board on top of the ship was always, “saved” for other adult cruisers. Both my boys were thrown out of the Solarium 3 times by different RC employees (they were just walking through the solarium to go to the Park Cafe for a snack, as unlike on other cruise lines, RC Grandeur of the Seas does NOT have a variety of food stations/restaurants open 24 hours a day). The food on the entire ship was subpar to mediocre at best. On more occasions than frankly I care to admit, in the Windjammer cafe, I witnessed passengers eating off their plates while still in line, contaminating the food in the buffet trays with their germs and actually verbally fighting and pushing people out of the way to get to the food. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. Finding seating was nearly impossible in the Windjammer Cafe and my family of 4 (when we didn’t eat in the Gatsby dining room) usually had to eat out in the pool area. Speaking of the pool area, the pool was mysteriously closed twice during our cruise and only the hot tubs were available for use. Every cruiser I spoke to was annoyed and going “crazy” watching the big TV screen play the same dog/cat/little boy UTube video over and over and over and over at nauseaum. The same video played over and over for 8 days straight!! The only thing that my teenagers did enjoy was the Karaoke each nite, but unfortunately it was from 10pm to 11:30pm and run by a different RC employee each nite. On 2 occasions, other cruisers rudely told my teenage boys to leave the Pacific showroom where the Karaoke took place. Fortunately, I was there and my teenage sons were allowed to stay and participate. In the casino every day/nite was an extremely intoxicated male cruiser being extremely disrespectful to RC women employees and guests. Making sexual innuendos and being extremely rude, loud and insulting. Not one RC employee said anything to him, “because the cruiser is always right”. After witnessing this behavior for 2 nights, my husband finally said something to him. He became louder and even more aggressive and belligerent. He even told my husband to “step outside so he could teach him a lesson as he was going to whip his ass”. The male passenger was 60-70 yrs of age and my husband is 50 and a Lt. with the Baltimore City fire department. The pit boss finally stepped in and the man was asked to leave. Everyone, RC employees and cruiser alike thanked my husband profusely because they (the employees felt they couldn’t really do or say anything, because they are taught to bend over backwards for the guests) and the other cruisers were shocked and intimidated by this man and were apparently afraid to intervene. Sadly, the very next day and night the same drunk, sexually inappropriate, loud mouthed bully was at it again and allowed to continue that behavior for the rest of the cruise. Many cruisers said they stopped gambling all together or just all together refused to be at the same table with that loud mouth, sexual predator. I have cruised other lines, the last being 4 months ago on Carnival Pride. It’s a smaller ship, but the food was impeccable, the service amazing and there was always an activity and something fun to do, whether you were young, old or somewhere in between. The Pride also has a pizza place (Pizza Pirate) that is open 24 hours a day, along with Guy Ferri burgers and fries and the Blue iguana (Mexican food) along with their massive buffet. On other cruise line, you can get coffee, hot choclate, tea, lemonade and even ice, 24 hours a day or nite without having to call room service. Sadly, RC doesn’t offer these amenities. As for “A perfect day at CoCo Cay”, we were very disappointed. We did have beautiful weather and we were the only ship in port so it was not crowded. My husband did the Pig Island excursion, swam with the pigs and loved it. My teenage boys and I stayed behind on CoCo Cay island. I do NOT understand why RC (who owns COCO Cay island) feels the need to charge their cruisers to pay an extra fee for the “thrill island” side. RC OWNS the island, and as cruisers, we have already paid for the cruise. We didn’t pay extra to go to Naussa, Port Canaveral or Charleston. This is RC just trying to fleece more money off of their cruisers. When my family and I cruised Carnival Pride 4 months ago, we went to Half Moon Cay. (The island that Carnival owns). As cruisers, we were NOT charged for anything on the island that Carnival owns. Food was served at no extra charge, they had a band playing on the beach, and many of their Carnival employees were there interacting with the guests, playing sand and water games and truly getting to know each and every one of us. Even more disappointing and reprehensible is the fact that because we were the only ship at COCO Cay, they kept discounting the “thrill side” of the island from the original excursion price to a mere $10 by 2pm (the ship departed at 6pm) because NO ONE was on the “thrill side” of the island. The cabanas go for up to $300 on the beach. Because we were the only ship in port, people used the cabanas for FREE, while others got stuck having already paid for the $300 cabanas up front. It seems to me, and many of the RC cruisers my husband and I spoke to throughout our 8 day cruise, that RC is just out to make a quick buck and do the bear minimum. On other cruise lines, the mustered drill is 20-30 minutes long at a minimum. Our drill was 5 minutes long (if that) and it was to just electronically buzz everyone’s sail and sign card. They never even showed us how to put on a life jacket! My husband and I were in one room, with our teen age boys next door, yet we were assigned different mustered stations!! The Centrum is absolutely tooooo small as people saved seats and the same people were down there each and every night to listen to the band. Most the cruisers had to watch standing up, leaning on the railings or pull up chairs on the upper railings (all the way to floor 8), to watch and listen from afar. The comedy was awful (we had three comedians on our 8 day cruise). The ship board “broadway show” had to be cancelled because of an illness of one of the RC employees. The show went on the following nite, but it was definitely subpar and many people walked out by the middle of the show. All and all, I have sailed on many cruise lines, and RC is by far the worst. I even had an employee tell me that they really didn’t care about anymore of the Grandeur of the Seas sailings, as a “rich sheik had just purchased the ship for himself and his 158 wives and children and the ship was being sold and retired at the end of the 2019”. That was a very disappointing and upsetting comment to hear. My husband and I were also told that RC was a “step up” in clientele, sophistication, and class. On every other cruise line we have sailed on, formal night meant just that.... dressing up. Apparently NOT on the Grandeur of the Seas. Cruisers were in the main dining room (the Great Gatsby) in SHORTS on both formal nites!!! On any other cruise line, that would not have been allowed and they would have been asked to change. I could continue on, but I think I have made my point regarding our below par family trip on RC. It’s sad when my teenage boys stated once we returned home that they would have rather NOT missed school and 8 days of homework than to have gone on this specific cruise. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions regarding our subpar vacation. Read Less

At first, they lost our luggage and would not offer any assistance to find it. I went searching on my own and found it three floors up at the opposite end of the ship. So I begin to carry to extra large suitcases back to my room. Passed by many employees and not one offered to help me and even seeing me struggle. I get our luggage back to our room. We go to dinner the first night, LATE cause we had no luggage to change, and my mother being a diabetic was having issues and not one employee offered to get her a snack or anything. Dinner was about the only thing I can say was decent on this ship. Our waiter was AMAZING. However during our cruise, any employees that we would pass in the halls or come in contact with, acted like they hated their jobs. Not a hello, good morning, good evening nothing. Tried to go to two comedy shows and the act never showed. I did complain and nothing was done. Last day of the cruise I complained again and was given Royal Caribbean credit on my next cruise of less than 200.00 for both me and my mom. We paid over a 1000.00 for the 4 day cruise. I have not cruised with Royal Caribbean since and I have been on three more cruises with other companies since this nightmare. I guess you can say I am throwing 200.00 away. It is worth it to have peace of mind that I won't have another experience like this. Read Less

Room was dirty, food was horrible. Stay away from Royal Caribbean, try others, their absolutely horrible. Called customer service, alerted them of our concerns, and only was offered $115 discount on a future cruise with them, I respectfully declined after spending almost $2000 on a 4 day cruise and coming home extremely dissatisfied. Room was dirty upon entering. Our dinner reservation was double booked and we had to wait for another table, what’s the point of a reservation? The whole time they constantly are trying to sell you more stuff on the cruise, it’s like Royal Caribbean just wants to dig in your pocket the whole time your on vacation. Not one thing on the boat tasted fresh, every single thing tasted like it was precooked and warmed up and served. We have been on cheaper cruises and received way better service and food than Royal Caribbean. Never ever again! Read Less

My wife and I chose this ship, because we love the Oasis class. Unfortunately they didn't raise the bar. The cabin was great. They made the balcony bigger, but at the expense of the tub. I am just under 6 feet tall, and they mad the tub so narrow I couldn't stand in it without my feet being curved. It actually hurt to take a shower. The final day I had to stand with my feet together to take a shower. Also, the partial glass screen on the tub, is not attached. I almost did a header and fell out of the tub the fist time trying to get comfortable. Be careful . The public restroom was another miss, with a tall , small urinal. Again I am just under 6 feet tall, and I had to stand on my tiptoes to use the urinal. What were they thinking. Lets make a urinal that only 6 foot 6' people or taller can use. There were many puddles on the floor, and that's all I'll say. Then there was the food. Is it me, or is RCL buying cheaper and cheaper food? The food was terrible. I took a chance and tried a specialty restaurant, when the Coastal Kitchen had absolutely nothing on the Menu that night that my wife or I could stand. I paid extra to stay in the Junior Suite so I could eat there, and it was disappointing . I have had nothing but bad luck trying RCL's specialty restaurants. Trust me, there's nothing Special about them. My last cruise was on the Independence of the seas, and my wife and I tried the Specialty restaurant plan. What a waste of money. 2-3 hour waits. Rude service. The couple next to me complained, and was berated by the waiter. Awful food. We tried to cancel after the 3rd try, but was told we couldn't get a refund. We didn't care and lost the rest of our money. On the Symphony I tried Hooked. It was terrible. The service was fast and friendly, but I just couldn't stomach it. They started me off with this cheese biscuit. It was old, hard and had no taste. Then I was brought a crab and clam chowder. I was half way done, when I bit into something that sounded like either a shell or glass. I tried another bite with the same result, but found what I hoped was a shell. I stopped eating it. Then they brought me my shrimp cocktail, and it smelled funny almost like bleach. That was enough. I stopped and called over the waitress and told her I couldn't eat here and wanted a refund. I was then made to repeat everything 2 more times and grilled by the chef, but got the refund. The food is getting worse every year on RCL. So much so, That I am not going on another RCL cruise. Even the trusted pizza at Sorrento's was bad.I am now going on their sister company Celebrity , because the food is supposed to be a lot better , and they have a NON-SMOKING CASINO!!!. You can smell the smoke within 20 feet of the casino entrance. It's really bad, and they have a new drink policy that's horrible. If you earn 2400 points in a year you get free drinks in the casino. Now you can only get 1 drink every 10 minutes. Also the one staff complaint was that this was the only RCL cruise I've been on, where the bartenders were rude. The bar was open a few minutes before the casino and they were serving drinks. I went to the counter and asked for a drink, and they berated me, and told me I had to wait for the casino to open. When the casino opened, I went up to the counter again to ask for a drink, and the Bartender snapped at me that I had to wait until the casino was open. I pointed out to him that it was, He didn't believe me. I then pointed to people , right in front of us playing the slots, and all he said was "Oh'. then got my drink. Also I was ignored a lot by the Bartenders because I was Prime (Free Drinks), and I didn't have to pay for my drinks, and I guess there would rather wait on paying customers. I was ignored several times a day. It was really frustrating . It's like the new policy was invented to prevent you from wanting to get a drink. Well it worked. I usually lose a lot of money in the casino to get the points for the free drinks, and this is there new way of saying thanks? They really should have someone that is/was a guest to check out their designs, new policies and food before implementing them on new ships, that way they could avoid all these mistakes . RCL , Please upgrade the food. It's really bad when Kraft Mac & Cheese is 10X better than yours. On the good note, was the service. As usual the service was excellent. I have no complaints at all, except the Bartenders in the Casino. My room steward did a fantastic job, as so did the wait staff in the restaurants. I thought the Independence of the Seas was my least favorite ship, but Symphony comes very close. Hopefully they will see this, and improve everything, but i doubt it. Read Less

We cruised, not impressed. 17 family members total. Two parents, four (42-36yr old siblings), eleven (1-17r) of those offspring. I’m not and will never be impressed with the noise levels at night in the rooms. Disco night was the first night and we could clearly hear all words to the music played, it played well past 11:30 pm. We asked to please lower the volume multiple times, with no success. At the pools we could not all swim together. That was big time dissipointing. We wanted to take pictures of the whole family after early dinner was told our family was too large. On day three it was super hot and the only place my daughter could cool off was under the pool shower. The only for her to play was under with water was “closed due to maintenance”. I would not suggest this ship to any family or large group that like to sleep at night or swim together. I would like to give the best postive of the the experience and that was the early dinner. It was best part of the whole thing, although the family had to sit at seperate tables. The food was great and waiters entertained the our younger guest with magic tricks. Read Less

I paid 17k for the two bedroom family suite and received the most horrible service I have ever received on a cruise ship. We are frequent cruisers (over 120 days at sea) but this was our first and only Royal Caribbean. Embarkation went smoothly. It was nice to be met and checked in by someone with an Ipad but i am not fond of having to wait till my room is ready to get my cabin key. This limits your initial access to suite guest only sections (your key is what opens the door) and makes taking advantage of your beverage package difficult. The 2 bedroom family suite is nothing fantastic or over the top. Basically two standard cabins made into one. Nice to have the whole family in one suite but def no luxury for the price. PRETTY BASIC One of the two bathrooms had a bathtub but the other was super tiny (like one in a lower lever cabin where shower doesn't even have a pan you stand on the actual tile floor of the bathroom) The balcony was very spacious and added a good spot for older children to hide from the younger ones. Room service had a nice assortment. Was especially nice to be able to order a whole pizza. Normally stateroom staff go out of their way to help make you comfortable and happy. This particular staff didn't seem to care one way or the other. The didn't even learn our names. Normally by day 2 the cabin steward is greeting you by name or at least remembers you special needs. When you have 8 family members in a suite 6 towels aren’t going to get it! We had to BEG BEG BEG daily for sufficient towels. One of our children become ill and when we called at 9:30 pm and asked for new linens we were RUDELY told by the lady on duty that she was alone and that it was going to be awhile we would just have to wait. There was a special section at the pool reserved for suite guests. This area had nicer chairs with comfy cushions. There was not a waiter assigned to the suite section. If we needed a drink we had to walk to the bar and wait. Our 22 month old was WALKING BACK AND FORTH in the ankle deep water at the pool (there was no kiddie pool) and we were asked to remove her from the pool because she wasn’t “toilet trained”. Keep in mind there was a group of 4 grown men in the pool drinking beer that HAD NOT GOTTEN OUT FOR OVER TWO HOURS, ONE HAS TO WONDER WHERE WERE THEY URINATING. For Royal Caribbean to feature the only two bedroom “family” suite, they ARE NOT FOND OF CHILDREN. I paid 2k for a 22 month old to be in the ship and she wasn’t welcome in the pool and if we wanted child care for any reason there was an extra charge. If they know they don’t have any services for a toddler why charge full ticket price. The one night we did use child care the workers seemed nice. They were very high pressure about scheduling child care ahead of time. It was difficult for us to know when we might need child care so after day 1 we just kept her with us. Our 6 year old was super excited to go to child care the first night (she loves being with other kids) but after being there one time she didn't want to go back. She said it was boring. We purchased the excursion to Atlantis but ended up passing up the bus ride and hired a taxi. It was just taking way to long to get everyone organized. Once we were issued bracelets for the water park we left the group. CocoCay was the highlight of the trip. We purchased a large cabana at Chill Island. The service on the island was impeccable. I truly wish we could return to this island without taking another RC cruise. I could go on and on but to sum it up DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR VALUABLE FAMILY TIME ON RC. I don't believe the price structure they use is proportional to the service they offer. I hope they spend my 17k well because it is the last they will ever see from this family of avid cruisers. Having been a fan of royal and it’s sister ships - this was a huge disappointment. I chose this ship that was suppose to have a dreamworks program catered to little kids. After paying in full I was told the program was canceled and nothing would be replaced. I paid 500 dollars for an almost 2 year old to sit a one mini splash pool. The best part is kids wake up early and the pool doesn’t open to 10. The last day the filter was broke and we couldn’t even go in for hours. LocAted right next to a larger splash park that she couldn’t go in with a diaper or any other pool on the ship. I was told there would be multiple options of things to do with a young child - ok great if I want to put my baby in an indoor playroom on vacation NO THANKS. Do a Disney Cruise is all I can say. The food was about good as a cafeteria in a hospital and lines for places to pay were a mile long for also mediocre food. 150 central dinner upgrade was the only positive thing I can say about this cruise. Service awful, out of everything form drinks to hot dogs, they never had anything. I haven’t taken a royal cruise in many years and will never again. Celebrity has always lived up to its expectations but with a child I was told Royal was the ship- NO go If you dont want to be nickel and dimed for every penny you spend skip this cruise line. I am a person happy to spend money on a trip especially for my baby girl. I have cruised on most lines and vacationed from beaches to the best resorts. Thank goodness we are going to Disney world after this or id be so upset right now. Lesson learned I will spend my money elsewhere where by daughter can actually have things to do like the characters and parades that i paid for but we’re canceled. Let me say I never write reviews but this really upset me. Hope those who read it deeply consider before booking Read Less

This was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean, I was looking forward to a fun, relaxing time. My girlfriend is legally blind, she has low vision, so we always contact the cruise line ahead of time to make sure she is comfortable enough with the ship and the itinerary, as we have done with the three previous cruises we have been on with other cruise lines. None of what Royal Caribbean said ended up happening, this includes large print menus and cruise compasses. I realize that this really doesn’t affect most people, but for people with disabilities, especially a visual disability, rely on feeling safe on a ship to be able to enjoy themselves. Now on to the ship itself. CABIN: The cabin was your standard ship cabin, although, it was the smallest balcony we have had. The cabin itself was worn looking. There were stains on the couch cushions, and throughout the carpet. For some reason, all of the wood, desk, cabinets, etc. were really sticky. We had to wipe everything down before feeling comfortable in there. FOOD: the food was wildly inconsistent, and was ok at best. We did not eat at the buffet at all. The food in the dining rooms lacked flavor and any sort of creativity. The pizza at the promenade cafe was pretty good. We ate breakfast in the dining room every day. One thing that bothered me about breakfast service is, they had a buffet set up in the middle of the dining room. The was strange to me, if I wanted a buffet, I would’ve went to the buffet. It felt like they were trying to get away from serving the guests. The worst part of breakfast was that they couldn’t even make fresh toast, it was just sitting in a basket, and was rock hard. SHOWS AND ENTERTAINMENT: we didn’t see the ice show or the stage production. Our biggest issue here was the fact that they kept changing the schedule for shows and events. We saw the comedian at the welcome show on the first night, he was funny, so we were looking forward to the other comedy shows. This ship has the new Royal Caribbean app, which has the full schedule for the entire cruise available. The schedule for the comedy show kept changing, in the end, the only other comedy show was on the last night at midnight, had to be off the ship early the next morning, great job. We also love playing trivia while on the ship. The entertainment staff couldn’t even do this right. One time, a crew member came down to play the completely wrong game, and told us we were wrong, a moment later, the lady came over to host our game and had to tell the other guy he was in the wrong place. Another time, actually later on the same night, we went for trivia, and the host actually played the trivia game from the night before, wouldn’t listen to us when we tried to tell him. PORTS: We did not get off the ship at Nassau, this was our third time there. At the new Coco Cay, we rented a bungalow on south beach. We were told the shuttle will bring you right to the bungalow area, no, got dropped off about a half mile down the beach through deep, soft sand. There were plenty of servers around to take drink orders, they just didn’t walk around much at all, not one server walked near our bungalow all day. The island is beautiful though. OVERALL SHIP CLEANLINESS: the refurbishments on this ship are beautiful, but was still probably the dirtiest ship we have been on. Banisters were dirty, carpets were dirty. We never saw anybody cleaning, which is uncommon for a cruise. We saw staff riding the elevator, just not wiping anything down. This was our fourth cruise in the last three years, and this was the first time we did not enjoy ourselves at all. My girlfriend actually felt scared going around this ship. Read Less

the worst company to deal with. They don't deliver what was promised when the reservation was made, you step on the ship, look at your cabin, and feel very disappointed. so, you walk to the customer service to find a loooooooong line of disappointed customers, stand there for a couple of hours and never get anything resolved. Then you on board for few days continue with measurable experience. I would not recommend Royal for travelers, why would you want to pay your money and spend your vacation time with this company if there are others that offer better experience? They promise staff for kids, for instance the virtual reality trampoline. My kids were so excited to experience it, guess what: it was NOT OPEN the all time we were there. Kids were disappointed. There were no shows for kids, NONE. They have 2 ice cream machines, one of them was broken, and always line to get ice cream, that was served melty. They had one slide for kids, and line always was long to get on it. The all trip was a complete disappointment to all of us. They advertise the new renovations they've done to the ship, I wonder what was it before? OH, ONE MORE THING THE FITNESS CENTER DIDN'T OPEN TILL 9 OCLOCK!!!!!!! SO STUPID, REALLY. We have been on many cruises. First time on Royal Caribbean. Worse, boring, and not friendly Cruise ever!! No entertainment on the pool area deck. The DJ was terrible in the Viking Lodge ,stopped the music, and turned on all bright lights every time someone spilt a drop or dropped a drink. The centerium area of the boat was mostly dead and the bar was design were your back was to entertainment area. The ship was old and didn’t looked kept up. There were a few issues with the electronic part. Even the guy doing (employee) music trivia complained about the age and out dated equipment. Honestly felt like we were at a floating nursing home. If bingo is your thing, Royal Caribbean Cruise is for you. On a positive note, we did like that the drink package was unlimited and usable off the boat. CooCay was very nice and well kept. Pool was clean and service was decent. CooCay was definitely the best part of the whole trip. Never again! Carnival ships in the future. Read Less

We booked this cruise with extended family. First stop was CocoaCay. All the on ship advertising and email that we received mislead us to believe that the water park and resort style pool was open. The staff on the ship agreed with me that our kids will have a wonderful time on the waterslides at CocoaCay. When we got there, it is still under construction. Really disappointed the kids. We booked two rooms (ocean view with balcony) they were okay, but have a stale, musty smell. Bathroom really need to be updated. Shower had cracks, etc. They clearly spent the lion's share of their renovation money on the common areas of the boat not in the cabins. Service was good, there were a few really attentive servers at dinner. However, the food at dinner was subpar. First night three of the four adults ordered Prime Rib and had to send it back as it was to tough to eat. Worst vacation ever...you should look at other cruise lines before booking on this one.
