Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Viking Mimir

We booked this cruise in 2019 and finally got to go in April 2022. Our trip started well with a negative Covid test before embarkation. "Viking Mimir" was beautiful, comfortable and overall accommodating. Our cabin and staff were perfect from day 1. The public areas were immaculate and the facilities first class. The restaurant and food was all wonderful as was the chef and his staff. We were ...

Marketing material vs. reality

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaKristina

Though I have traveled all over the world with friends and family, this was my first river boat cruise. Before you decide to go on an Amawaterways river cruise, I think you should close the glossy brochure and read actual reviews from travelers. It's all about expectations. The majestic views from the brochure are not the norm. The Rhine is a busy working river with cargo ships passing by often. ...

Extremely Disappointed

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Scenic Eclipse

We chose this as it was to be a discovery expedition, which in reality it wasn’t. The ship itself wasn’t completed. The cabins weren’t ready of finished, the decks outside were still being finished and had contractors working night and day. Issues with machines in laundry, gang planks weren’t working, the list goes on . There wasn’t enough seating at the buffet at breakfast and lunch, also ...

Not for the active

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaSerena

We chose this cruise to determine if a river cruise was a good fit for us. We have decided that for the money our bet is with the ocean cruises. If you are the type that can sit and enjoy a piano player or read. Then a river cruise is a good fit for you. We consider ourselves to be active and the River cruise just does not have enough activity. As for the rooms we upgraded to a balcony and ...

Tauck Family river cruise on the Seine- Beware!

Review for a France Cruise on ms Sapphire

User Avatar

We eagerly awaited our Tauck family trip as we had an extremely positive experience in the past. This was anything but positive- the boat was not able too maintain comfortable temperatures in the heat we experienced, the food was bland and even inedible at times- we ended up eating plain pasta and cucumbers off the kids salad bar, the nightly entertainment was nonexistent and disappointing. The ...

Don't choose Royal Panoramic Suite 334 !

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Scenic Sapphire

This river cruise was completely spoilt by choice of cabin. Whilst service, food and excursions all matched expectations, our very expensive cabin was dreadful. Royal Panoramic Suites are the second most expensive on the ship and Suite 334 has several issues. (See below under Cabin Review). We are not inexperienced travellers and had expected some engine noise at the back of the ship but we ...

This was our first river cruise having done many sea cruises with Seabourn and Silversea. We were initially pleased with the overall experience, although the suites were a little tired. All of the staff were extremely polite and helpful and we listed many individuals in our on board review. The food, service and excursions were excellent. The on board entertainment was average. Apart from one guest ...

River Cruise turned into a bus tour

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Tialfi

User Avatar
Mojeze

Overall the cruise was very disappointing. Due to the low water in the Rhine, the ship was not able to dock at any of the ports on the itinerary. We were bused to all the cites which took away from the convenience of getting on and off the ship during the day. We did a ship swap on the 3rd day and spent 8 hours on a bus getting to towns and the next ship. For 4 days the ship was docked at a ...

What Castles Along the Rhine?

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on S.S. Antoinette

My husband and I were passengers on the Basel to Amsterdam "Castles Along the Rhine" October 14-22, 2018 river cruise with Uniworld on board the SS Antoinette. On the second night( the first night of this "7 night voyage" was the overnight cruise to Breisach from Basel), we were informed that there was a possibility that the cruise might be cut short because of low river levels. Sure enough, at ...

Our 8 day river cruise has turned into a 4 day cruise and 4 day bus ride. Due to low river levels along the Rhine, we only got as far north as Kehl, Germany and are being bused into Amsterdam from there. Yes, I understand that Uniworld can’t control Mother Nature and water levels, but it would have been nice to have been warned that this was a possibility and been given the option to cancel with a ...
