My Name is Steve Meredith. I have been in the catering service for 40 years and still going. I have worked in all aspects of the industry from five star hotels, Michelin star restaurants, private chef to deli & coffee shop. I recently went on New Year Cruise UK Departure Date 29 Dec 19 Total Trip Nights: 5 I was very disappointed in the food and service. Food was of a very poor quality and standard, and presented like kids had prepared it. The service in all catering and bar areas was appalling. Enclose is a diary i kept. Day 1 29th Dec When we arrived at the terminal we were asked if we had checked in on line . We all had but then got told had we registered our credit card . No where did it say to do this . We was told no drink package on this cruise, every one moaned and you could feel tensions getting high. P O opened the exchange bar to purchase the drinks package, long que formed and took a hour to purchase . We went to buffet for lunch, small area and even smaller choice of food. Salads look like the end of the night at pizza hut and not much choice. Cheap food item were on offer. Went to room, this was good . First night dinner took 20 minutes to get in to restaurant, rolls were of a poor quality . Starters was good but main pork roast not so good, stuffing no taste, roast potatoes deep fried then roasted hard in middle and dark brown . Gravy had been left on hot plate to long. The steak pie that my father chose looked like a school meal, peas and carrots and a scoop of mash. Raspberry pavlova that i chose for dessert was not a pavlova. It was one of our guests 75th birthday . One of the head waiters I think white uniform ask who's Mark Acton . Mark said hello the head waiter just plonked this dry old cake by him and ran and I mean ran off . No candles or happy birthday singing . We went to the Havana bar it took 30 minutes to get a drink . Then ages for another. Day 2 Went to watch rocket man in the Havana bar no chairs out left to our own devices. Dinner took 42min to get a drink after I caught a head waiter sort of guy. Lamb steak full of bone tough and small portion. Sent it back another came, tougher then the first one. Powder mash, on other guests dinners the quality was poor . I had the Cheese and biscuits for sweet, says continental and British isles but all were British cheese . We did the elimination quiz they held it in the buffet restaurant. Only one drinks waiter on then was told the bar was closed at 1130 and could not get another drink. So we went with out. Day 3 Getting off to Hamburg we decided to get a take away tea. Was asked cold milk we said yes please . The lady asked the waiter to pass the cold milk. He ignored her and shook the hand of another waiter wished him happy new year. Wasnt new year yet. Lucky the pastry girl saw this and jumped in. Went to buffet once again small, poor choose and quality of food. News eve gala dinner . No one explained our menu and what we had to do. So we missed out on the sorbet course. The chicken soup should have had croutons none of us got croutons . The lobster tail on three of our plates were inedible had to be sent back. The creme brulee was definitely not a creme brulee but a mousse no egg custard or caramel to be seen. Cheese board had Parmesan cheese on. Not really a cheese for the cheese board but a cooking cheese. We sat out in the outside bar, for News Eve. No waiter service at all had to que to place our orders. Day 4 Machines in buffet restaurant only dispensing water no other drinks available. We booked the Afternoon tea in the white room. Was good but not enough savoury too much sweet stuff and very sweet. We waited once again ages for drinks at dinner . Only one wine waiter that we could see. Day 5 I chose the pork and sage roll to start at dinner . It was a two inch sausage roll not what i would call a starter. Mixed grill was small i asked for two. lamb cutlet was tiny over cooked steak and liver . No egg, gammon, sausage or onion rings that you would hope to find on a mixed grill. Read Less

Booked this cruise to celebrate a friends anniversary. They have cruised before, we hadn’t. Very disappointed. Ship is worn and dated with painting going on all the time. Pool at the rear is dirty with broken tiles. People squashed around on sun beds with little room to move. Regularly felt sick from the sulphur dioxide and soot covering the back of the ship. Regularly had black spots all over my body and any clothes. Staff were not bothered when we complained and the pool didn’t get cleaned. Food is bland and tasteless, especially the fine dining. I have had better school dinners. Entertainment was tacky and more suited to black pool butlins! What a waste of money. Never again! Have travelled all around and this is not luxury. It is 3* at best. Could have flown to Thailand or similar and stayed in a 5* hotel for the cost of this trip. Save your money. Read Less

Rooms are like prison cells. Bathroom is tiny you literally can’t move in it. For a ship of this capacity the swimming pool is the size of a bath. The outdated rules of no shorts gets boring especially when men are allowed to dinner in scruffy Adidas trainers. Not only are you woken up early with the annoying, pointless announcements but the ship is a dictatorship. Never cruised before and because we booked through a 3rd party we weren’t informed of the dinner attire rules, we was reprimanded for not booking direct with p&o but p&o still accepted the booking and happily took our money via 3rd party. Avoid this ship. It’s tired and lacking any character or luxury. You can hear every noise the cabin next door/ above makes also. Drawers constantly being pulled in and out. Entertainment was dated and not much for children in fact the only child’s disco that was organised what set at the same time of the black tie event so nobody showed up. When eating at the buffet you practically had to beg the waiters to take your drinks order otherwise they just avoid you. I went and asked one to order a drink and he told me to go to the bar. Many of the wait staff are arrogant and unhelpful. Would never cruise again and would advise anyone considering it to avoid the Oceana. Ports were efficient and no problems going through just don’t forget crew card. Upon disembarking you have to provide your crew card of which this was taken off of us when we checked out at reception. As stated before we have never cruised and as no information was given to us as they assume every passenger has done many cruises it caused a confusion and delayed us getting off the boat as we no longer had our cards. Then the man started shouting over me aggressively when I was pointing out that reception staff should not have taken my card if I needed it to disembark and leave the cruise. Read Less

This was our second cruise with P and O, the first being last year on Britannia, which was disappointing. We have cruised with different companies previously so do have some idea of expectations! We returned from a cruise to Norway on Ventura yesterday we were disappointed to find that there was a lack of activities during the cruise. The tables in some of the bars and on the tables on deck 15 were not cleaned after use. There didn't seem to be enough staff to serve guests in any of the bars and we were not the only ones who failed to be served in the exchange or on deck 15. Some staff we found to be rude. This was not what we expected. We ate in the restaurant and in the Glass house. The Glass house was excellent, it is a shame that the same can not be said for the main restaurant, we were either rushed through courses and left with the menu for desserts for a cknsiderable period, on some occasions we were asked if we wanted cheese and coffee and others not and felt that although we were asked, we shouldnt have said yes we wanted both, there didnt seem any consistency within the restaurants Read Less

We chose this cruise for the Itinerary specifically to visit Messina and Venice we received an email on the 20th June 4 days before we were boarding Arcadia telling us that we would not be going to Messina now as the ship needed to have technical work done and would be staying in Malaga our first port of call for longer ,we arrived in Malaga a day earlier than we were supposed to ,we arrived on Thursday and we were told we would be leaving on Saturday evening once the work had been completed but were then told Saturday afternoon that we would not be leaving until Sunday evening making us arrive a day later at all the other destinations we were visiting and the excursions that we booked were all cancelled and 2nd day in to the cruise we were told that there was an outbreak of norovirus and this got worse as the the time went on the buffet was limited due to this and we felt we were in a 2 star Hotel rather than being on a supposed to be luxury cruise that cost £6,140 a very expensive mistake the ship was old and tired looking lots of visible rust and supply’s being stored on the promenade deck work on the lifeboats was being done every day you do not go on a cruise to be surrounded by noisy works being undertaken you go to relax ,The food was tasteless especially in the meridian restaurant and we were also told that the ship would be increasing speed to make sure we reached the ports we were going to and also sailing back to Southampton so what was supposed to be leisurely days at sea turned in to a race with windy decks and a wave machine in the pool . Will not be ever going back on Arcadia again I think the ship needs to be retired .do not waste your money going on this ship Read Less

Have previously cruised on P and O Britannia and loved it, so I chose a cruise of the Med on Arcadia, the itinerary was important.....but we were emailed 4 days prior to sailing with a changed itinerary as Arcadia was damaged and they would repair her in Malaga, so Messina was removed from our itinerary, so they could repair Arcadia in Malaga! So off we sailed on a faulty ship, and the repairs lasted 3 and a half days. So one can only say that P and O repaired their ship during the holidaymakers time. 3 and a half days stuck in Malaga, I could have taken a mini break for £300! Day 3 Norovirus breaks out. I am told that although a cleaning person was sent to the cabins of the sick and a questionnaire was pushed under the door, the sick were not checked over by a doctor unless a private consultation was requested at private medical prices!! Incredible.....as the virus was gifted to passengers on board. Food was dreadful, cooked by amateurs it seemed and very often inedible, oh well there was always the cheese and biscuit option. Indifferent service by tired overworked staff. Lack of communication from the Captain and medical team. Intercom systems that didn't work, so important announcements were missed. Sloppy cleaning of tables in the buffet and outside deck areas, no wonder the virus took hold. Dreadful experience and deplorable PR. Read Less

We cruised with P and O for many years up to 2014 when we decided that as their standards had dropped so much we would try other cruise lines. We found these other cruise lines were still up to the standards that P and O had before 2012. P and O had been in contact with us over the years trying to convince us to try them again assuring us that the standards were once again on a par with other cruise lines. We decide to use them during the May half term and go on Britannia on the 25th with the Grandchildren. We wish we hadn’t. The ship was late in due to some mechanical problem, (which we now know they had before they left on the previous cruise, so using it with this problem made it worse) and we were delayed many hours, but the worst of it was that having driven over 4 hours down to the port with children in the car we were them held on the port by CPS in a car park for at Mayflower terminal for over 3 hours without any facilities, refreshments or information. People who were not booked with CPS were allowed on the ship but anyone booked with CPS were kept away from the ship until almost 9pm. The organisation was terrible. Having got on the ship it was chaotic and we were unable to get any food until after 10pm, but had to leave it for the muster which was at 10.30. Because of all of the chaos on the ship continuing during the muster our granddaughter was lost in the crowds and no one would take it seriously saying that they would look into it after the muster. We refused to wait and one of us went to the reception to report her as missing, whilst one of us continued to look for her. The Captain went on and on during the muster, far longer than necessary, whilst the reception said they could do nothing. We eventually found her sat outside the room, 30 minutes after the muster, having found it by asking people where the room number on her ships map was. So generally a very poor start to the cruise, still we decided to put this behind us and enjoy the time together. Unfortunately, despite being told that because we had children, we would have a table for 4, but they put us on a table for 7. We tried to change it but were told it was unlikely that we would be able to move. In the end we had to transfer to freedom dining which we don’t like when we have children with us, it is never a problem on other cruise lines they always accommodate us. To turn to the cruise itself, the ship was a bit chaotic throughout the week, culminating in passengers not being able to get off the ship by tender at the last port for over 2 hours. There were several late night or in the middle of the night announcements, none of which made any sense. The Costa café was very poor, the service was virtually non- existence and when you went to the counter to seek a coffee you were treated to insolence. Many people left the café without ordering and we only went twice due to the issues. The food was okay but a bit samey and mediocre at times in the restaurants and the waiters were a bit hit and miss. The buffet was better than the normal with good access to tables. Since the last P and O cruise we were on the singers were better but the Headliners were not as good and the shows were poorer with less sets etc. There was also less shows generally. Daytime activities were also poorer and unlike other cruise lines, there is a lot less to do for older children during the day, although the kids club for 9 years olds was excellent and could not be bettered. We have been on most P and O ships and Britannia is the worst, is far too big to be so disorganised and whilst P and O are still pushing for bigger and bigger ships, they need to get their organisation Read Less

Very disappointing, ship tired and staff very lacklustre, not one member of staff went that extra mile, Hygiene not enforced at all surprising considering that they had noro virus a few weeks before. Entertainment team non existent, buffet food appalling, dining room just satisfactory, poor service and no interaction, served as if we were in a fast food establishment. We had an issue with over charging so went to Customer relations to sort out, assistant started to deal with our problem then just answered the telephone whilst we were in the middle of a conversation when I pointed out that this was rude he replied that it was a medical emergency, but surely these calls should be taken in private, I don’t think it’s very professional as I heard all the details of the illness and their room number. Guest were cross between benefit street and Butlins, unfortunately P & O have lowered their prices so this has resulted in dropped standards in all areas. If you like Benidorm then this is for you, but personally I will rather spend more and go on Celebrity or Azamara. We found it quite amusing that our room steward hardly spoke to us at all for the entire cruise, but on disembarkation he was hovering around no doubt expecting a tip, which we would have gladly given if we had any form of service from him. Disembarkation an actual farce, we chose to take off our own luggage but they couldn’t even get the right deck number to exit some we’re saying deck 6 whilst our paperwork said deck 5! Wouldn’t rush to book another P & O cruise unless I was desperate for a cheap no frills get away. Read Less

it was our first 7 night cruise experience ... our Cabin Stewart was 5* star right from the word go, he went above and beyond the call of duty, he most amazing, incredible man I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and talking to, the cabin was also clean, tidy and presentable. the Shamrock Tenors Irish group were a 1000* stars vote from me, they delivered an utterly INCREDIBLE and I mean INCREDIBLE set both in the Manhatten Bar {this is where I saw them perform} but I was also told they delivered the most amazing off the charts insane performance in the Playhouse Theatre {I was told by Passengers} Eric Landlard Afternoon Tea is a MUST DO in the Epicuran Restaurant trust me its incredible. the ONLY entertaintment worth seeing was .. 1: the Headliners Theatre Company & Stephen Mulhern with their magic show ''Astronishing'' and the Irish Group ''The Shamrock Tenors} {this is why I would only give these two entertainment acts 5* stars} NOW FOR MY BAD MOANING DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT order Room Service for lunch as its only Included in you're cruise packages for Breakfast and Evening Dinner IF you have 3 adults in a cabin and 1 of them doesn't drink alcohol don't worry as you people who drink alcohol can still have their alcohol drinks package and the person who doesn't drink can have an NONE alcoholic drinks package for the same cabin {despite P&O Cruises drinks package wording saying different - we were told that by a P&O rep who called today about feedback for our cruise} the hot food in the Freedom Dining Restaurants were NEVER EVER hot like they should be when cooked at temperature {it was either luke warm hot food or cold hot food} the Country Line Dancing / Salsa Dancing should NOT have been organised on the stairs of the Altrium Shopping Centre as it is a way too SMALL area and not everyone can take part as its way too tiny area the Rotterdam, Netherlands Excursion Tour was YAWN / DULL / BORING although I couldn't attend this tour due to suffering with an extreme bad headache which was making me ill, apparently I was told this again was just a normal high street chocolate shop / cafe tour with NO demostration as promised in the excursion summary The Ice Cream Parlour on board was difficult to find, once found it said on our Cabin Leaflet that The Ice Cream Parlour closes at 7pm I arrived there at 6:25pm to find it CLOSED but the rest of the Entertainment was Rubbish and not worth seeing the P&O Company seriously needs to take the ship Azura off its cruise list and OVER HAUL IT / modenise it as it needs a Cinema, it needs a Cookery School{like the Brittania}, it needs a LIVE LOUNGE etc they did more on board activities for SOLO travellers than families or adults travelling together and finally the WIFI is way over priced, you can't get WIFI in you're cabins and they need the CLOUD WIFI installed on all levels within their Azura ship rather than their own P&O Wifi which is utterly crap all over the ship Read Less

we chose this cruise as it was the only one going where we wanted to go, this said we should have heeded as our first trip on this ship was bad enough but, it has had a 'refit' boar ding was slow, on arriving in cabin the curtains, bed runner and cushions looked dirty , the bathroom had black gunk in areas around the bath, storage average. So off we go sail away party consisted of about 6 dancers around the pool singing and dancing to YMCA whoopie, going around the ship discovered the retractable roof has been out of action since December, maintainace being done was like having a lounger by a steel works. tried freedom dining such a shambles on the first night, went straight to fixed dining where service was very good, friendly after 2 days husband was ill not sure if food poisoning or the bug ended confinement for 8 days, only supposed to order from recommended recovery menu, ordered omelette which arrived with a cooked salad, complained appoligies given but no feed back hit bad weather force 8 as a consequence the bathroom was covered in black stuff which had come up through the drainage hole, where the retractable roof was open that end of the ship was a wind tunnel, freezing cold, food on the floor near pool were 2 stewards right by it chatting officer walks by says nothing, bars average, but slow entertainment rubbish my local has better, guest speakers one Sue Halderness (only fools and horses) brilliant other a criminoligst couldn't string two words together. no hot water for a day, toilet not working had to hand pump it for over a week, had coffee poured over my breakfast faulty pot, went to make appointment to get nails done had to wake up the receptionist from her sleep propped up on the computer screen, I now give up with this there is plenty more, so please if you are considering this cruise line avoid at all costs, in our case £6000 + Read Less

We have taken over 35 cruises and this was the worst ever. We ate in the main dining room on a table of 8 at the 8.30 sitting. Waiters were friendly but rushed off their feet. Food was ok but lacked any sparkle. Gone are the days when you would have lobster or a nice steak on the black tie nights- pretty standard fare. The evening shows were generally good with the runaround kids and the magic show being by far the best. Watched a few films during sea days- good choice. Waited over an hour to park the car at portside and a further one hour 20 mins to board ( we later found out that there were delays in disembarkation causing delays in boarding) no communication- it was a shambles Once on board we settled into our cabin - a superior delux balcony with a bath- which combined with our cabin stewardess was excellent. Visited the buffet once - pretty standard food with no imagination. We had coffee and some lovely cakes ( at a cost of £2.50 a cup) at the Costa bar. Service there was always polite although my wife was told that she couldn't have a cake or sandwich if she didn't buy a coffee , despite no signs advising us of this fact being present. Not handled by well by waitress - Very rude. First port was Vigo - took a Santiago de Castella on your own tour ie coach picked you up at port dropped you off and collected you £40 per person - what a rip off. 50 passengers at £40 gave P&O £2000 to hire a coach for 5 hours Next port was Lisbon. P&O provided a shuttle bus at £4 each way. We walked into the center square - took us around 20 minutes in a leasurely stroll and had a coffee / custard tart - lovely. Our call at Porto was cancelled due to "high swell" so we stayed in Lisbon for a further half day. Leaving for our next port at Guernsey early afternoon. Woken early on the Thursday morning by the noisy motors lowering the tender boats to go into St Peter Port. P&O kindly provided us with a detailed sheet on the tendering process and pointed out that there was an early morning rush to get off ( what a surprise) and if guests waited until 11.30 any wait would be small. We duly arrived at 11.30 to catch the tender to be met with chaos. Very upset Passengers who had been waiting, staff who didn't have a clue what was going on and no communication / apology from the bridge. Only 3 tender boats running although someone said they were trying to increase the number. We waited for 3 hours to get to the tender (2.30) and in the end didn't go as the last tender back was 5pm. Spoke to several passengers who said they had waited hours to return to the ship. Next problem was due to the late return of the tenders we left Guernsey late and hence returned to Southampton late. We always walk off early with our own cases. But instead of 7.15 ( when everything is quiet ) it was past 8 when all the lifts were full. Gangway was on same deck as breakfast que it was chaos , again angry passengers fed up of being pushed around by staff, and staff who just had no idea of how to communicate or organise - it was shameful. Finally got off the ship and picked up the car with no problem. P&O need to do a lot better - it's a very competitive cruise market with lots of choice. Read Less

It was horrible.... noisy crowded and our cabin dirty. Butlins would have been better. The food was bland and often cold . The cabin was awful. We paid £2600 plus for a super delux cabin. Money we worked hard for wasted. There was chocolate and peants on the floor.., past horizon mags from previous guests shuffed In the pocket. The phone was dirty and sticky. Coffee cup stains on the side board. The carpet was wet by the entrance.. A towel remained on the floor for three days and stank the cabin out. The deck manager came to see us twice. I chose this cruise for a relaxing break as it was my Birthday . 7 nights departure from Southampton on the 12th October 2018. This cruise was a nightmare from beginning to end and would not recommend it to anyone. Its all about the money and not customer guest satisfaction or respect. This ship should never have left Southampton as there would have been weather warnings. We were in a hurricane and the ship was rocking so fiercely we were very sick for days confined to our cabin. No tv signal and when we complained was blamed on the weather, but there were no new films like on other ships, so nothing we could watch anyway. Toilets out of order on board and very smelly. smelly lifts and corridors. The breakfasts were very poor so we didn't bother to attend breakfast. The Buffet was the same every day and not a lot of choice neither in the restaurant in the evenings. Menu seemed to be the same daily. We missed a Port in Spain and were very upset as we really wanted to visit there. Money was taken from our account without our permission which distressed us further and items were added on our account for things we did not purchase or drink at various bars as we don't drink alcohol. Our beautiful clothes on a rail by the toilet with no doors. Grey unsightly towels we had to complain and asked stewardess for soft white towels, she replied they don't really have them. I was appalled. What a disgrace. the list goes on.C250 Read Less

My wife had a specific diet entitled a "thick pureed diet" and we sent all relevant documentation before we booked and p & o customer services sent them direct to the azura who replied that this diet would be no problem so we booked. The first evening meal the soup was served with bits of leaves in it directly against directions in this diet and it then went from bad to worse! On two evenings she was served a bowl of water that stank of fish! The thick puree should stand in its place when served if you place a fork on top of it it should leave an imprint of the fork in the food and you should be able to eat the food with the fork without it falling through the tines of the fork. So how can a bowl of smelly water comply with those instructions? The instructions we sent showed how to make a thick puree diet how to thicken it up or thin it down if need be to get the right consistency. This was never done in all meals for 9 days! By this time my wife was starving so we went to the buffet each night to see if there was anything she could eat there like soft deserts with custard! The meals served were too thick one day or like water the next or had very large lumps in it or garnishes or leaves all against the instructions we sent! It was just as if the chefs on board could not be bothered or it was done out of spite! The only other conclusion is that it was incompetence or not one chef on board knows how to prepare a thick puree diet. Obviously we rate the dining as nil/zero absolutely awful. Entertainment was ok but its time jimmy james retired! I enjoyed the quizzes but I always do. The manahement were appalling re the food issues. They did nit help at all! Overall very poor and we will not travel with P & O again! Read Less

Picked P&O as it sailed from Southampton and it was easier to get from London with family. But there is literally no comparison with Celebrity cruise. It’s essentially a 2* cruise ship. Key issues: 1. Ship is dated 2. Buffet food is rubbish. Real poor quality 3. Speciality restaurant “Sindhu” is probably worse than your dodgy Indian takeaway. It serves packed naan and frozen paratha !!! 4. Staff at restaurant wasn’t that welcoming 5. Entertainment isn’t great. 6. Sports area are really run down. The golf swing area, basketball court etc were falling to pieces Positives 1. Sails from Southampton so convenient to get there for London folks 2. Good parking and pick up facility 3. We had balcony deluxe room and it was good. The sofa bed for kids was comfortable and so was our bed. 4. The attendant for our rooms was very courteous and efficient. 5. Gym had enough machines and weights. Read Less

I thought cruises were meant to be classy but this one was full of chavs with football shirts and tattoos! I was very surprised. Also I wasn’t expecting to find a hen do on board. Maybe I picked the wrong cruise! It’s very low brow! The room is ok, the balcony is very nice. Shame we were next door to a rowdy bunch though! I know people will think I’m being moany but so far this is not what I was expecting from a cruise. I can imagine by 9pm the whole ship will be smashed and balconing! (Just so you get an idea of what I mean). I hope someone can recommend a more old fashioned and classy cruise, I would very much appreciate it. I’m actually now quite glad this is only a 2 night stay. Anyway hope it somehow gets better. May end up just staying in the cabin. Read Less

Overall, I thought it a floating Butlins for geriatrics. That may sound a little harsh but I expected a lot more for the money. The entertainment was often suboptimal and the food somewhat bland. Portions were small but not a-la-carte; good job there was food to be had elsewhere on the ship afterwards. Of more concern, the ship ran out of the cheaper wines after week one, which was a concern for many people on board. I chose to decline the gratuitous (£98 per head) on arrival and instead tip staff direct who were helpful above and beyond what was expected (€100 for our maid Grace Etc). More disappointingly, the smell of raw sewage at various locations around the ship was distappointing to say the least. Additionally, having to walk through smoking areas to get to the buffet was awful. Not a good experience and I would not recommend unless you’re too old to care what value for money means. Read Less

Went for a week on the Azura. Having now done 13 cruises this has been the worst by a mile. We booked 3 cabins and paid £5685 including a premium to have them near each other as one of our family is disabled and needs our assistance. The ship often stank of sewage, the corridor outside our cabins was often very bad and certain deck areas also stank. The toilets outside shows and bars where often flooded with water and urine. One of our cabins frequently had sewage backing up from the toilet bowl and dripping through the bathroom wall, after 6 days we finally got another cabin we had to spend 2 hours at reception as none of the senior management team would talk to us it was only the intervention of the ships Doctor who was walking past and offered his help by escalating the matter we finally got one replacement cabin, when we arrived at the new cabin the carpet was filthy and the bedding dirty, they did change the bedding. The Buffet food area was grubby, badly scratched tables, buckets catching leaks from the ceiling. The hand gel policy to prevent transmission of bacteria etc is just ignored in the areas. I went to the toilets near the Buffet restaurant all of which had no soap so I walked to the next toilets at the pool again no soap. Only one disabled toilet had soap and none near the eating areas had any soap. The Sunscreen is sold as an attraction but parts of it don't work, being big film viewers we where obviously disappointed, I asked at reception only to be told its been broke for weeks and not going to be fixed soon, it was still in the brochure and no one advises you of this. At 9pm on the last night of the cruise I was offered £200 on board spend which is just an insult as the shops are shutting and I didn't need £200 worth of stuff? P&O offered £200 cheque once I complained when I arrived home which is just an insult for the bad experiance. Read Less

We choose this cruise, because of the Itinerary? I can’t fly, we have been on 8 previous cruises, once before on the Ventura, we vowed not to go with P&O again,? But the itinerary swayed us? Let me start with the main problem??? If you board the Ventura and they give you room C403? RUN!! Do not take it!! It’s by the lift shaft,? And all through the night, we were kept awake by a constant, very loud banging noise! This room is fit for storage purposes only!! We asked to be moved the second day,? But it was full, so we had to endure 12 nights of hell! The food was okay,? My husband and I enjoy curries? Which is just as well? As they were served daily? But we’re good. The entertainment at night was very good, but during the day,? We could either attend a knitting club, a craft club a model boat building club, or a talk on engines? My husband attended this s, but fell asleep 10 minuets after it started?? I had to go find him, after he still hadn’t returned after 2 hours,? He was the only one left in the arena, snoring his head off! I’m sure it was through lack of sleep, and not bordum?? We certainly aunty will be sticking with RCI or NCL in future,? Read Less

The itinerary and the dates. Worst cruise I have been on engine problems late embarking and Cadiz not visited called in to Vigo on a Sunday at 5pm more for P and O benefit. Terrible crossing at sea with many I’ll, food poor, entertainment poor, overcrowded. We did not get off ship at Vigo as people were going ashore and coming straight back, so was at sea from Friday to Weds morning. Should have left ship in Barcelona and flown home. Will never cruise again with P and O. All the staff on board were great apart from sickly entertainment manager. We had planned this trip carefully as we do not like too many sea days wow what a disaster that turned out to be. Coach journey down great but coming back we waited for 2 passengers that we later found out got off the ship in Italy due to medical grounds. You would have thought that p and o would have notified the coach company. We then waited for 5 passengers from Cunard to be bussed over hence left at 10am after sitting on coach going nowhere for an hour. NEVER AGAIN P and O. Read Less

Friday 11th May. Departure delay due to ‘technical difficulties’ which I have now seen from various forums was experienced by the previous cruise. ‘Sail away’ party abruptly cancelled and finally left Southampton without ceremony at 23:00. First port (Cadiz) due to be visited on Monday 14th May replaced by Vigo on Sunday at 17:00. Pointless stop for passengers as the port was closed except for a Burger King and street sellers displaying fake designer bags on the pavement 200 yards from the ship. I can only presume the stop was to fix the ship as the captain announced that night “the problem with the thruster has now been resolved”. The ship was so unsteady from Southampton to Vigo a large majority of passengers were unable to leave their cabins due to severe sea sickness. Myself and daughter included. Passengers are shoulder to shoulder on sunbathing on deck and around the pools. The adult pool was not open until Tuesday. Any entertainment worth seeing was overcrowded. Tickets given for Strictly Come Dancing Show clash with set dinner time. While all staff were very helpful throughout I can honestly say the whole experience has put me and my daughter off cruises for life. We were so unhappy we decided to fly home at the next available port (Barcelona). The ship was so unstable during the journey from Southampton to Vigo, particularly at night, we were genuinely scared. Read Less

Birthday gift for daughter absolutely ruined the ventura should be taken out of service missed port entertainment puerile I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy I cannot believe p&o decided to set sail with an unstable ship it was like substandard holiday camp and no this was not my 1st cruise we have cruised for the last 15 years and to top it all they were reluctant to give us a letter stating there was a technical problem so we could claim for missed port of call The ship was so unstable and my daughter was so seasick she flew home early when booking we were not told it was a strictly come dancing cruise or that most of the entertainment would be on that theme shame on p&o for ruining my daughter's holiday of a lifetime they have had problems on the ventura since February but they still took our money Read Less
