Having cruised on Norwegian before the pandemic, I believe Norwegian is suffering from post pandemic syndrome and is using the pandemic to reduce services and quality.
My specific problems were:
1. The itinerary followed was not what I paid for. The three days cruising Antarctica were reduced to one while the weather was glorious.
2. Sanitation standards were low. I contracted Covid ...
This isn't your ordinary kick back by the pool in the sunshine and be pampered cruise itinerary. It goes to ANTARCTICA! For many on the ship who are frequent travelers, this was the final destination, the SEVENTH continent to visit. The destination is unique. The itinerary is grueling: it crosses The Drake Passage- where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans converge. Some days, it's a "lake". ...
This was our 6th cruise. Unfortunately ranks at the bottom. If you've cruised within the US or Europe, this will be a disappointment.
Embarkation. Like a disorganized maze. Luggage drop off is different location from your checking in. Buses will ferry pax from these 2 locations. Address sent by Norwegian Star erroneous....meant for locals only.

We cruise often and have mainly stayed with Norwegian so we have achieved some status that adds a few perks. This was an amazing itinerary mainly to see Antarctica and that did not disappoint. It should be on everyone's bucket list.
The good -
We like the size of the Star. Not a mega ship, holding about 2500 passengers.
The staff was friendly and helpful without exception.
The ...
The NCL (minus 2) STAR was not passenger friendly.
NCL should reconsider the FREESTYLE approach. Having standards is a GOOD thing. We spent a lot of money for this cruise and I did not get what I expected
The three positive were, the crew was great, service was excellent, and the excursions were first rate
We took a similar cruise with CELEBRITY in 2019, which was wonderful.

It was to be the trip of a lifetime, flying to Buenos Aires to join a 14 day cruise to Antarctica aboard the Norwegian Star. Leaving Buenos Aires on 29th Jan 2023, we started off on the wrong foot immediately.
A long story cut short, we did not have visas for Chile, and our itinerary included Punta Arenas on the 5th day of the cruise. We had applied for these visas on the official Chilean Gov ...
We have sailed NCL many times and have never been on such a disfunction and poorly organized cruise.
It started at embarkation out of Buenos Aires. There was no line control and contradictory instructions at curbside. The only cars allowed up to the front with luggage were those that paid the guard a bribe. If not passengers had to drag their luggage approximately 100 yards to check in. It did ...
We loved Norwegian so much that we bought stock and held on to it during the downturn. This cruise would be our 10th with the line, and most expensive to date, but was not a good trip.
Two ports were missed due to weather, (not Norwegian's fault!!), but apparently they routinely miss visiting the Falkland Islands, and don't post any specific cautions or warnings about this on the cruise ...
Was excited for my first trip to South America and loved the itinerary! Visited some very remote areas and saw beautiful scenery. Especially loved the Glaciers, the penguins and the sea lions.
Unfortunately, the experience on the ship was the disappointing part! It started with embarkation which was a disaster with long lines and frustrated guests. I’m platinum, which is supposed to afford ...
We picked the NCL Star as my wife and I have sailed on 4 other NCL ships with good experiences. The main reason for sailing was the excellent itinerary.
We generally found the Star to be poorly laid out with little or no "quiet" space where you could sit of and relax. There is no observation lounge as this was apparently removed to be replaced with more cabins.
GETTING ON AND ...
