The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

Trains, Planes, Automobiles – Monorails, and a Ship! AKA: My Birthday Cruise
"Finally, we were headed to the next stop, but no one wanted to get off because it just didn’t look right, so we all decided we wanted to go back to the ship and asked him, sorry...We were able to drop off our carry-ons after check-in, so after lunch, we explored the ship and went back to our cabin for a long awaited nap, but yes, you guessed it, the Cabin Steward came a-knocking!..."Read More

This was a transatantic from rome to new york. i did this cruise last year on ncl epic and didn't much like it, but i've been on the gem and other gem class ships and you were never in doublt you were on a ship, no matter where you were. it looked like a cruise ship, smelt like a cruise ship everyone knew. the giant floating shopping centers don't appeal to me. i don't want to have to board ...

Before I begin my review of this cruise, I want to say that we are Sapphire with NCL. That means that we have spent more than a few days cruising with NCL and have seen many changes over the past few years. We cruised 46-days with NCL in 2023 alone. Where to begin? We booked 2 cruises with NCL for November. The Gem from Istanbul to Athens then a Transatlantic on the Breakaway out of Rome ...

Embarkation in Istanbul was long with a lot of waiting in line. I wish that had gone faster. Our Ocean View cabin was the last one down the hall and butted up against an equipment room, yet we were not bothered by noise. It was clean and comfortable and there were no mechanical issues of any kind. Food quality ranged from just OK to pretty good with the exception of Le Bistro which was ...

3 continents 1 cruise

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We chose this cruise for its itinerary. The ship was stopping in Egypt, Israel and ending in Istanbul Turkey. We were interested in seeing the Pyramids in Cairo and touring Jerusalem then spending some time in Istanbul at the end of it. Due to some very unfortunate circumstances we were unable to stop in Israel so we had an extra sea day. We covered 3 continents, Africa, Asia & Europe in this ...

NCL GEM - August 14-27, 2023

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Gem

Used BOGO Air, and received flight information approximately 65 days prior to cruise. Flights were from Houston to Montreal, then Montreal to Venice. Had a one day deviation and arrived without any flight issues or delays on the morning of the 13th. Booked hotel and transfers with NCL, and NCL transfer person was easy to find right outside of baggage claim area, although we had to wait about 30 ...

Used to love NCL; but they were deceptive on this one. Will move to Royal Caribbean more often now.

This was our 4th cruise with NCL and we've really liked all of the others. Some people it seems always look for the negative, and just want to complain and make life miserable, or get freebies from companies, restaurants, etc. That is not us, but NCL did some deceptive things in our opinion on this one. 1. Our itinerary was supposed to have the first stop in Venice (which along with Santorini ...

The cruise was great the food was great entertainment was awesome. Now the 20.00 a day gratuities was very strange. We were told the crew does not recieve the gratuities we were charged. We asked several of the servers they told us they only got what the contract stated. We went to the front desk filled out a form stating we would do our own gratuities and we did you have to hand them cash or they ...

We actually rebooked this cruise, after the offer was improved significantly to include flight credits. It was unfortunate that there was no child drop off for our 3 year old. So we cancelled our youngest kids. As we did not understand this at the time of booking. I didn't understand the reason for this. Unless Norwegian had staffing issues. How do enjoy fine dining or a theatre show, if you ...

Post Covid Norwegian Gem - Greek Isles

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Gem

So this being my first cruise post Covid (done several NCL cruises last decade) wanted to make a review of what works (and what is utter failure) with NCL. This is not a bash on them, I am a platinum member and very pleased with them overall, but they are not the same as my last cruise (2019), some is better, some is worse, others are just different. First off, the booking is not as convenient ...
