This cruise was okay. My wife had paid for a Happy Anniversary room decoration that was supposed to be ready when we arrived and it wasn't, ruining the surprise. The first night at dinner was confusion: They took us in and then looked around like they didn't know where to sit us. Then we felt rushed and steaks were cooked at wrong temps. The next day at lunch we were seated at a table that still had a dirty tablecloth and crumbs on it. After this, we had a new waiter at dinner named Jayesh who really made a difference for us. He was great! He was personable and cared about how his customers were being treated. The only other food type issue was the fact that they didn't have the free soft serve ice cream available after 9pm like Carnival does. Why not? Oh, probably to make you buy ice cream from Ben & Jerry's or get a shake at Johnny Rocket's. It's a simple fix that many people complained about. Be careful if you go to the little lecture about shopping at the ports - it's like sitting through a horrible infomercial. These guys MUST be getting a kickback from these overpriced stores they "recommend." You can get better deals elsewhere. We really enjoyed our time in Cozumel and the cabin stayed clean, however, the beds were hard and the AC didn't cool much. Other than these things we did enjoy the ice skating show, the game shows and the comedy on board. Being with my wife and celebrating our 25 year anniversary made it a great cruise! Read Less

Chose this cruise as a back to back for this same ship leaving Miami on 12/08/2017. RCI did a fantastic job of processing for us consecutive cruisers. I highly recommend booking back to back cruises for logistical and stress-free reasons. We were the last to leave the ship & the first to reboard. We were provided lunch in the Chop Grille which had a great menu and service. This was special treatment as we watched others board the ship and deadhead to the Windjammer. Downside to this 5day cruise: This cruise had more school age children than we have experienced and unfortunately adult supervision was not apparent. There was running in the corridors, screaming, fingers in food, crying, playing with the elevators and we retreated to our cabin. We have come to the following conclusion for our travels. We will not book cruises for less than 9 days. We will not book cruises close to school out Holidays. We will Check out cruising on Celebrity. Read Less

5 days (Bahamas & Cozumel) THE GOOD: I can't say enough good things about the staff, they were great. Helpful, friendly, courteous, and great at what they do. The ship activities are decent enough, but there probably are not enough for the amount of people on board. The food was pretty good (with one exception), we ate at every location (minus Izumi). There were a couple items at each location that were really good. THE BAD: Expect to get bombarded every turn about buying something, even if you already did. Purchased a couples massage only to get "harassed" about buying product after the massage. Purchased the 5 night dining package only to get "harassed" about buying the dining package. Extra fees, extra fees, extra fees. Even after paying for the tips in advance, expect to get blindsided by extra fees that aren't mentioned anywhere prior to the cruise. Room service? oh yeah, but it's $8 each time, and while most foods are included there are some that are only available for an extra fee (lobster, some steak items). Flow rider? great but it's only available for maybe about 4 hours each day, and if you pre-booked something, or are at a scheduled lunch? tough luck. Need a late night snack? OR couldn't make the assigned dining times? Only one other place to eat (open 24 hours) and the food was either bad sandwiches, or semi-warm gas station pizza. It was by far the worst food on the ship. THE UGLY: Worst bed I've ever slept on, hard as a rock. For all the marketing and sales pitches they throw at you for Cariloha you would expect them to have their mattresses and sheets in the room. You wanna sell a product let me sleep on it and try it out. Golfing simulator was broken the entire trip. Rooms aren't as "clean" as they should be, not dirty, but not clean. Internet was pathetic. It would work, then not work, then be great, then horrible. Expect the pools to be overcrowded, they are way to small for the number of people on board. Excursion was nice, until we get there and aren't allowed to take any pictures of video (even though the description said different). You have to purchase whatever the excursion took (only another $120). OVERALL: This was our first cruise. It was decent. Will we cruise again? Probably, but I'm just not sold on Royal Caribbean being our choice. We have 4 kids from 10-18, they didn't come this time, and I'm pretty sure they would have been bored after day 3. The constant sales pitches turned a needed vacation into a "I'm tired of hearing about anything you have to offer." Read Less

We used Uber to get to the port of Miami. This service has proved invaluable to us as we have moved up in years. The driver lifts our bags into the car as well as at the port. The Uber driver arrived within 2 minutes of our call. We arrived at the port in approximately 20 minutes. There was a slight problem at the port because the the Uber driver argued with the porter about who should take the luggage from the trunk and the porter said he was just there to direct traffic. Finally after a minute or two of dispute the Uber driver removed the luggage and left. This was the first time we ever had an Uber driver argue with the porter. Check -in was smooth and pleasant. Always need to wear a sweater in the port building. It is very cold. We were unable to go directly to our cabin until 1:30 PM. We found that there was no sit down lunch in the main dining room. We usually do that on other ships. We find that it is much more relaxing way to start the cruise. The food on this cruise was not that good. Meat was tough, menu choices were repetitive, however, the potatoes, no matter how they were cooked, were outstanding. They had the best flavor. We also found that the Café Promenade Shop had the best cookies, muffins , danish and coffee. The pizza was average. Sandwiches were all covered with mayo so we never got to try them since we are not fans of mayo. Fresh fruit was also available. The service in the dining room was excellent and the waiters were outstanding. The piano player in the dining room was outstanding. However, each evening, the musical interruption that occurred right before dessert was served was too loud and annoying. It took away from the pleasant atmosphere with the beautiful views from the windows, polite waiters and lovely piano selections. On the second night of the cruise there was an announcement made thanking us for attending the Italian Night Dinner which was followed by loud Italian song. Everyone thought this was so strange since there was not one thing Italian on the menu that night. We had an inside cabin and were surprised how nice it was. It was more spacious than we expected. We even had a sofa in our cabin. The shower was larger than other ships inside cabins. No annoying shower curtain but 2 plexiglass sliding doors. Nice TV that was on a swivel so you could watch it on the couch or in the bed. It had a remote control that offered interactive activities. The sleep timer did not work . The choice of regular TV programs was ridiculous. They had 2 Broke Girls, The Big Bang Theory and The Person of Interest. Those shows are fine but they showed the same episodes over and over again on the same day and then the rest of the 5 days also had the same episodes repeated over and over again. The beds were another story. The mattresses were so thin it was like sleeping on the floor. Our cabin steward, Wayan, tried his best to make it softer but nothing helped. Wayan said he checked and they did not have any spare mattresses to replace it with but he would try to add some padding. Even after adding 5 layers of padding it still felt like we were sleeping on the floor. Finally on the 4th day of the cruise they tried adding a bed board but it made it even harder. At last they found another thin mattress to add to the 5 layers of padding. This finally helped. The front desk manager and the Hotel Manager apologized for our discomfort but did nothing at all to compensate us for the problem. Royal Caribbean needs to think about replacing their mattresses with good quality pillow top mattresses. The Ice Skating show was amazing and was one of the few highlights of the cruise. The shows in the theater were disappointing except for the last comedian, Rodney Johnson, his early show was hilarious. We loved the Marriage Game but because of the loud talking of the bar staff in the back of the theater we had difficulty hearing the show. How disrespectful! We enjoyed the "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire Game" as well as all the Trivia games. We met some very nice and knowledgeable people at trivia. We found Trivia to be very interesting. Trivia was held in the Schooner Lounge. The lounge was comfortable but the rule about no E-Smoking was not strictly enforced. We totally enjoyed "The Quest" game show. The assistant cruise director did an excellent job getting everyone to participate. Debarkation went very smoothly and we were off the ship in 20 minutes. We used Uber to go home and only waited less than ten minutes for our driver to arrive. The port was very crowded with traffic. The driver helped load our luggage and got us home in 30 minutes. He was a very safe driver. He also took the luggage out of the car for us. Uber is great. They even gave us a 25% discount for using them. As far as using the Navigator of the Seas again, I think that would be doubtful. We enjoyed our previous cruise ( two months earlier) on the Empress of the Seas much more. Read Less

This cruise was a christmas present from my son. I was excited to try a new cruise line. We had only cruised with Carnival in the past. We spent the night prior in Miami and went to South Beach where a fight broke out between two groups of stupid kids. Other than that it was ok. The morning we went to the port was a complete and total mess with 5 ships in port that day. Navigator had Terminal A which is nothing more than a make shift terminal made of 2 tents. They had been late getting into port so was delayed on boarding. They had people just standing in line wrapped around the parking lot with no type of shade for hours but did give out bottles of water (not cold). Embarkation for some passengers was over 3 hours long. Luggage took forever to be delivered b/c it was left in piles in the parking lot until right before departing. The food in the main dining room was decent, a bit better in flavor than Carnival but not a large selection. We ate at Chops Grille which was amazing and worth the extra price. We also ate at Izumi twice which I think was the best food on the ship. You can even get it to go which is good. We ate on the Lido for dinner once which had a good selection. Lunch on Lido was pretty boring with everything being pretty much the same thing everyday. We ate lunch at Johnny Rockets once which has a fee of $6.95/pp for all you can eat if you dine in or one meal if you get it to go. It does not include milkshakes which you have to pay over $5 extra for which is ridiculous. We ordered breakfast room service most days and it was typical eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, pastries, coffee, and juice. Time slots for delivery are every 30 minutes (FYI they deliver at the very end of your 30minute slot most times). Overall service was mostly good. The pool deck could absolutely use more bartenders and waiters on sea days. There were only 2 on 2 of our 3 sea days if you could even find them. The last day was a bit better. Towels on the pool deck are horrible. They are like your basic bath towels from Walmart-towels in bathrooms were much better. Carnival definitely has RCCL beat on pool towels. One pool bar upstairs did a great job at getting drinks in a decent amount of time which the bartenders on the downstairs bar were slow and didn't seem to know how to make drinks. Most of the staff looked miserable and even though they would help you when you asked they really didn't seem like they wanted to. Entertainment/Activities - basic cruise ship entertainment, nothing exciting worth talking about Labadee Haiti -great little island, got the beach lounger for 2 which was a good little investment, lunch on the island was the typical hot dogs and burgers that you could get on the ship so again nothing exciting. good service and beautiful beach. San Juan Puerto Rico -many ships in port that day, our time was 2-10pm which sucked because you didn't have alot of time. We just walked around and did some shopping. Most of the deals they talk about online and on the ship are not that great so not really worth it. St. Maarten - we did the Maho beach experience ($45/pp) which was a lot of fun. There was an air conditioned bus ride that took about 30-40minutes due to Maho beach being nearly on the other side of the island. The beach is beautiful but small and the Sunset Beach Bar is right on the water where you can get drinks, food, souvenirs, and you can rent chairs/umbrellas ($20)and a waiter will bring you drinks (not included). You can sit on the deck and watch the planes depart and arrive or on the beach. The gazebo bar sucks for service, not nearly enough bartenders and if you're a guy or a woman with a shirt on and a woman removes her top lets just say you are getting moved to the back of the line (they get served first). You get about 3 hours on the beach before you take the bus back which is an even longer ride due to traffic, they will drop you off to shop but you have to take the water taxi, regular taxi, or walk back to port. It could be due to cruising during the school year but there were many more older people on the ship. Most of the Diamond/Platinum or whatever they are on RCCL we met were very rude, like they think they are something special. One gentleman who was a new Diamond/Platinum told us they were very rude to him because they felt he did not dress up enough for their "meeting" in the lounge. Not a big party ship in my opinion which is fine. The typical parents who don't watch their kids of course. At least 3 kids whipped out on the pool deck and hit their heads and no one could find their parents. Read Less

We live in Houston, and Galveston is only an hour away from our home. My husband and I have sailed on Royal Caribbean several times and are seasoned cruisers. Age 57-53. Embarkation- was a breeze, got to the port at 10:30AM and was on the ship by 11:15AM. Stateroom available at 1PM. Service- on board the ship was awesome. Drink service a bit slow, but was not because of the service, just they did not have enough help to manage the crowd. Our cabin steward was beyond great. Cabin- bed was beyond horrible. It was like sleeping on the floor. We asked for a foam topper to be told they no longer provided. Again, the bed was horrible!! Main dining room-food was the worse than we have ever had on a cruise. The steak did not have the texture of a steak. It was like spam in a steak form. Disgusting. Windjammer-food was like a local buffet, breakfast was the same every day. Chops-excellent food, but the waiter seemed disinterested and only wanted reassurance that we would rate him high on the survey that you received after you got home. Tender-to Grand Cayman-I KID YOU NOT-TOOK US THREE HOURS TO GET OFF THE SHIP!!! Three hours of our cruise waiting to get on a boat to take us to shore. Jamaica-did not do an excursion thru Royal Caribbean. Did a private excursion and had the time of our lives! Cozumel-nothing special-been there-done that. Main show-high school kids could do a better job. Terrible. Comedian-raunchy doesn’t make it funny. Ice Show-Day one they made you wait in line for tickets, and show night didn’t even ask for them. Show-not bad-not great Pictures-they have you look on a kiosk to decide if you would like to purchase, and have writing all across the pictures so you cannot tell until after you buy them if you have say your eyes closed or something doesn’t look right. One night the entire ship lost power for maybe 2 minutes, totally freaked. However, you would think nothing happened. Drink service continued. People just didn’t seem to even notice. Way funny. One woman on board stayed drunk the entire trip-falling down drunk-got mean and loud and no one stepped in to take care of it. Every show she was loud and trying to get attention and again no one from Royal Caribbean stepped in to stop her. One show she was in the front seat and started to cry and blaming the performer for her troubles. Stopped the whole show- Again, no one stepped in to stop her. TIPS-watch out peeps- people take their karaoke very serious! Read Less

Mixed feelings about RCCL. We are age 43 years old and thought we'd try a more "mature cruise". The ship was beautiful, loved our room, balcony view and deck. We felt that the first couple days were really great considering we were still in the oooh's and awe's of the ship. However, as the days went on we were finding it hard to find anything to really do other than the usual drinking, sunbathing and shopping. This cruise just seemed to be missing more activities for our taste. Found ourselves a bit bored and searching for things to do. On other cruises we seemed to always run into a game, line dancing lessons, trivia etc...We previously cruised Carnival Magic which is who I am comparing to. I really enjoyed Carnival overall. I will try another ship with RCCL before I totally count them out. Disappointed in the lack of 'open' good places to find a snack on the ship, the only place was at the royal promenade cafe and the food was pretty bad. The other cruises I've been on always had at least burgers, pizza and ice cream easily accessible near the pool and movie deck. One of the best meals we did have was when we ordered room service after midnight, it was delish! The meals at dinner were good. I mostly ordered what our waiter suggested and was always satisfied. The dinner staff did not seem to have as much fun like the Carnival waiters who would sing and dance most nights. Plus the breakfast in the Saphire dining was terrible. Your best option is to stick with the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Or visit Johnny Rockets (fee) for lunch, but do not sit inside unless you want to be stuffy. The entertainment on the pool deck was lacking. The pool big screen showed videos that did not match the entertainment on the pool deck. They should of either played the music videos with the matching sound or had a camera focused on the entertainment for all to see. Seemed like there was a lot of silence, we felt like elevator music should of been at least piped throughout the ship in some places. The piano man was not very good. We really were entertained by the guest singer he had instead of him. He seemed to want to sing a whole Elton John Album verses a variety of other songs. Most of the singers/bands in the bars were wonderful, but again more drinking and just hanging out. The live shows in the auditorium were good as well the Promenade Parties were lively. We visited the Cosmopolitan for club dancing. The DJ wasn't very lively. He sat mostly and I don't remember seeing him look up very often or interact. People danced, but mostly it was just to drink and hang out...again. Funny to see the teens sneak up the elevators to bust a few moves in the hallway. The drinks were very pricey although the best was only having to buy 1 drink card because I am not a big drinker where as my hubby enjoys his beer. Hated the routine to get our luggage when got back. The signs were not posted high enough to see where your luggage was and for some stupid reason, a lot of it was piled in the center of the customs building. They pushed us out of the ship too soon. We would of been more comfortable waiting in the theatre for customs to clear out a bit. -Not a lot of photographers snapping your photo like the Carnival. Which meant having to wait in line to get a photo on the dressup nights. -Loved the Service team, be sure to tip them extra. They work so hard to please. -Request Ice twice daily, to let melt for drinking. Bring a water bottle. They have coolers with drinking water at the pool bars. -Select Early dining to not miss evening shows or Select Late dining to get extra desserts or entres....Especially for Lobster night. -Formal, is not "too formal". Ladies, skip the gown if you want. Although on Formal nights I saw anywhere from capris to Prom dresses. Shirt and Tie and slacks are great for the fellas. It's just an opportunity for you to really dress up if you wish. -Decorate your door with magnetic items. Also buy strong Magnetic hooks to hang your swimwear to dry (the walls are metal behind the wallpaper) All in all I wasn't impressed with the activities on the ship but I Loved my room and the pools. Will try again with RCCL just on a different ship. Read Less

My wife and I were first time cruisers and I thought it would be nice to take a cruise to Belize, Roatan and Cozumel through Galveston. Embarkation was easy and I have to say, I was very impressed with Royal Carribbean service on board. The food was good, if not exceptional and there was plenty to do on sea days. We were not bored. We had an ocean view room and the room service was exceptional. The on board entertainment we enjoyed most (surprisingly) was the stand up comic. The guy was hilarious. Food wise, we tended to stay away from the Windjammer cafe, I'm not a huge fan of buffet food, but on the occasions we ate there, it was acceptable. Our table mates at the main dining hake were pretty uninteresting so we opted to eat out. The latin/fusion restaurant was the least impressive of the lot. But otherwise I would say the cruise was good value for the money. It was the disembarkation where Royal Carribbean fell down. It might have been poor coordination with the TSA (whom I also blame btw) but we waited over 3 hours to move the 100 feet to go through customs. I felt awful for the British citizen who missed his flight. This experience has convinced me that we will never sail out of Galveston again. It was a miserable end to what was otherwise an excellent cruise. Oh well. Read Less

This was my 25th anniversary gift from my husband. A gift i will no soon forget. Let me start by saying if this had not been a spring-break week then my trip would have been great. Food was good, service was good, and ship is very nice. BUT, with over one third of this cruise being springbreakers it just ruined it for us. They took over all the common areas, pools, hot tubs, casino, bars. They were so drunk they were throwing up everywhere. They would bang into you and laugh. I think that RCL should have had more control on how much booze that they let them have. We saw several of them pouring liquor from bottles that had brought on board. They were bragging about how they brought there liquor on board in there mouth wash bottles. I thought all this was suppose to be check before you came on board. Both ports we were delayed because of several of them being so drunk they didn't come back on time and some even forgot which ship they were on. My husband saw several of the boys peeing in the trash cans. The hot tubs were always crowded with them sitting on top of each other. Please do not get me wrong I have a college son and I once was young but several of these students just got out of hand. I wish that my travel agent from vacations to go had told me this was going to be a spring-break cruise then I would not have booked it. We stayed in a balcony cabin on the seventh deck. The cabin was nice but there was a terrible smell all the time in the bathroom. Have been on several other cruise and have never had this. Handle to door to balcony was falling off and ac sometimes worked and sometimes not. Maintenance came up several times to fix it but continues to not work correctly. Plenty of room for our cloths and bed was comfortable. In center of ship so not to noisy. We had to go back to Cozumel to have one of the young men be brought to a hospital. He got badly hurt at 3:00 in the morning buy jumping into a empty pool. I cant image getting being a parent and getting that phone call. My prayers go out to them. Perhaps if RCL had spent more money on adding more security instead of trying to make so much money on the liquor that they sold these kids things would not have turned out so bad. Very disappointed in this cruise line and will not cruise again with them. Read Less
