Potential there, but not realized

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Seaside

We wanted to experience an Inaugural Cruise and the Seaside transatlantic from Trieste to Miami fit the bill. The ship is beautiful and glitzy and very stable--sometimes we didn't even feel like we were moving. The shows are extraordinary and the Jungle area for children and the child in each of us was wonderful. The dancing instructors were fabulous, especially the Argentinian Dance Academy ...

Our trip started bad when we arrived on the bus in Trieste and the MSC employees did nothing to help a bunch of older people with their luggage. The sidewalk was not smooth so the wheels on the suitcases did not roll. We were allowed two suitcases each and some hand luggage. When entering the building I tripped on a piece of carpet that was bubbling up and fell onto my knees. After two hip ...

MSC Seaside has a lot of changes that need to be made

Before I write the review readers should know that my wife and I are not novice cruisers having sailed on Oceania, NCL, Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Costa, Carnival, MSC and Viking. We have also done 4 transatlantic repositioning cruises before this maiden voyage on the Seaside. As such, this review is being written with some basis for comparison. There are some ...

No such thing as a bad cruise, right?

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Seaside

I will preface my comments with some background. This cruise was our 15th. Until recently, we selected cruises based on cost but now that we are both retired, itinerary and season are weighed. Our favorite ship so far is the MSC Poesia. Our favorite cruise destination is a toss up between Alaska and the Baltic. Our family tent camped for decades so we are used to adjustments and getting by ...

Needs a lot of improvement

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Seaside

This was the 20 day maiden voyage of the MSC Seaside from Trieste, Italy to Miami, Florida. I would liken this to a new ship's sea trial voyage to fix operational and equipment at sea. I was expecting a few problems but not as many as experienced on this cruise. The ship is beautiful but run by incompetent management. The staff was poorly trained, especially in customer service and the sit down ...

Worst experience ever on a cruise (was actually 21 day)

Have been on 17 cruises with 7 different cruise lines Embarkation: Spouse required wheelchair assistance. Had to wait for a long time before we received the assistance, then only taken to ramp to get on ship. We embarked after the mandatory safety drill. After we took showers & dressed the next morning I opened the door at 9:45, to find a note that the safety drill for those who missed ...

Choppy design, not prepared for maiden voyage

I looked forward to the maiden voyage on a new ship and we love the transatlantic itinerary, MSC handled the change in starting point from Venice to Trieste very well. The crew did not seem adequately familiar with the ship and we went thru 4 different waiters in four days in the dining room. The cabin was tiny for a "mini suite" and there was very limited storage space. The pool and water ...

MSC you need to improve

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Sinfonia

Restaurant food very mediocre - poor quality and presentation. Vegetarian option attrocious. Not good to have to sit with the same people for dinner for 23 nights. Need dine around option. Far too much queuing for everything. Drinks packages very questionable. Speaker - Hugh Mitford possibly the worst speaker I have ever heard - not surprisingly his lecture series was ...

Convenient travelling back home to South Africa from Europe. We have cruised with MSC on a few occasions and have always had first class service. The Service and quality of food on this particular Cruise was dumbed down for some reason. We want to Cruise with MSC again and will do so if MSC can ensure that this will be the last time they dumb down the Service and Quality of food and all ...

Drinks were ship, ship is great and we'll maintained, staff were brilliant and very helpful. However the food was terrible and I was embarrassed for the staff who had to serve this rubbish. Currently on Rhapsody Of The Seas and there buffet is like fine dining compared to MSC. You need to live your game in this reason. Stephen Foster would have to be the best Cruise Director we have encountered ...
