I will preface my comments with some background. This cruise was our 15th. Until recently, we selected cruises based on cost but now that we are both retired, itinerary and season are weighed. Our favorite ship so far is the MSC Poesia. Our favorite cruise destination is a toss up between Alaska and the Baltic.

Our family tent camped for decades so we are used to adjustments and getting by with what we have. We enjoy cruising because it takes us to many places we may never get to and because there is a great feeling of adventure on the open sea. We have sailed MSC once before, once on NCL and 6 times on both Carnival and HAL.

This cruise was the inaugural sailing of MSC Seaside, originally scheduled from Venice to Miami but later changed to Trieste to Miami. The expectation of this new style ship was alluring. There was a great following of its construction on Cruise Critic and constant updates over the past year. Captain Scala posted videos online and we were so excited to be a part of this adventure.

Cabin Review

Cabin Interior

Loved our cabin. Great size. It was in the middle of the ship in a hallway by itself so very quiet. No noise above, below or outside. Close enough to the elevators and stairs for convenience and far enough from the MDR and buffet that we had to walk off 100 calories before and after every meal!

Port Reviews

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

HOHO bus. Get off the ship and walk out the terminal and across the street to catch the city bus or the HOHO. City buses come every 10 minutes. HOHO every 30 minutes. Might be faster to take the city bus into town and then catch the HOHO there. Worth the cost especially for seniors who get 50% discount on HOHO. We did the round trip and then got off at the church. Walked around. Went to the Arab Bath house and walked back in front of the big church. Good photo ops. Caught the HOHO again but didn't have time to get off at the castle. Good day.

Barcelona

Always wanted to go to the Sagrada Family church and finally made it. Take the pier blue shuttle (4 Euro RT) to the Columbus statue. Walked the Las Rambla and then took a cab to the church. We had prepaid on line for the guided tour and got right in. Excellent! Wonderful! Wanted to stay longer but friends wanted to keep moving. Taxi back to Las Rambla market place for food. Taxi was about 12 Euro. Walked back to Columbus and blue shuttle.

Cadiz

Took a tour to Seville. Beautiful but somewhat disappointed in Arab Palace.
