Viking Ocean to Cuba

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Viking Star

We wanted to try out Viking Ocean cruises after 35+ cruises on other lines. We liked the focus on destination cruising and were attracted by the absence of casinos, child entertainment facilities, amusement park rides, etc. We were wowed by the wonderfully roomy stateroom, with abundant storage and closet space. The service by the room stewards and dining room wait staff was above any we ...

Cruise to Cuba

We enjoyed a previous Viking Ocean cruise and wanted to see Cuba. The major drawback was that the ship did not dock in Havana. There was a 12 hour, rather expensive, excursion into Havana. We enjoyed that excursion but thought that it should have been an 'included' excursion since most people visiting Cuba want to see Havana. Both ports required 'tendering' so this cruise isn't for the ...

We chose this cruise to spend time with group of friends and experience Cuba. Our group of 10 were accommodated at all restaurants with group seating ( twice with private dining rooms!) I was pleased to see a wide variety of gluten free foods available! The service level matched that of Silver Sea...perhaps even better in several venues. Aaron Syfert was one of the best cruise directors we have ...

The titles tells it all - This Is Not Your Typical Review Spoiler Alert: I was born in Cienfuegos 67 years ago, left in 1961 and had not returned in 57 years. But my memories are still fresh. The three day stopover was just long enough to see what has changed in 57 years. Answer: Nothing! Think...What if nothing had changed where you live in the last 57 years. How sad. What price to be paid ...

We choose this cruise to see the culture of Cuba. The Norwegian Sky is a smaller ship in the fleet and has been refurbished. We didn’t have some of the amenities that we enjoy, such as multiple electrical outlets, updated restrooms, wide choice of restaurants, and photography service and packages. We were able to experience the Cuban culture. We chose the private excisions instead of ...

Thankfully this vacation was about the destination, not the cruise itself!

We went on this cruise with a group from a radio station. The rooms were so small two people could not move around at the same time because there was a king sized bed taking up most of it. For us, that was a waste. There was a odor which was similar to sauerkraut on certain levels of the ship that never went away. The food was serviceable but nothing outstanding. I can say the same about staff. ...

The good, great and confusing

I’ll start off by saying this was my first cruise EVER, so my expectations were literally nonexistent. The boarding process was simple enough but as soon as we walked on the ship all the direction and planning seemed to stop. They advertise their “freedom” cruising, where you decide what you want to do. This sounds great, but when you’re told we have lunch until staterooms are ready it would be ...

I wanted to go on a cruise to somewhere most people haven't gone. We chose Cuba and Norwegian Cruise Line which is the best value for the money. Boarding was easy and all the crew were super friendly. Our cabin was clean but small (inside cabin) and next cruise we'll get at least an ocean view cabin. Although the ship had a couple of specialty restaurants (you pay more for these on ship) the ...

Since visiting Cuba has been on my bucket list for a very long time, I was thrilled to finally get a chance to cruise to Havana. My adult daughter accompanied me. We enjoyed our time in Havana and felt fortunate to be able to stay in port from 8 am Tuesday until 5 pm Wednesday. It gave us extra time to really see and learn about the history and culture. The 3rd day we were able to visit GSC, ...

Yes the ship is dated....yes it is a bit rough around the edges....yes the room is small and the furnishings need updating but having said all that, it took us to CUBA. Check in was smooth but for a disabled guest there was a shortage of wheelchair assistance and the walk to the ship a long one. The staff were great and were always on hand to assist. But try and ring through to ...
