Sail Date: Nov 2018

We wanted to try out Viking Ocean cruises after 35+ cruises on other lines. We liked the focus on destination cruising and were attracted by the absence of casinos, child entertainment facilities, amusement park rides, etc.

We were wowed by the wonderfully roomy stateroom, with abundant storage and closet space. The service by the room stewards and dining room wait staff was above any we have experienced on other ships.

The board process was lightning fast, no waiting, no excess paperwork, all smiles and welcome.

Cabin Review

Cabin PV1

The cabin was remarkably roomy, with tons of closet and storage space. The bathroom was well thought out. The only drawback was the bathroom nightlight -- it worked well, but was accompanied by a very bright light at floor level shining into the sleeping area. In future Viking cruises we will bring a suitably sized piece of cardboard and some tape to cover up this light so one of us will be able to use the nightlight without waking the other.

Port Reviews

Cienfuegos

We spent three days at this port. The second day was day-long excursion to the nearby historic city of Trinidad. The ship's tours took us to both the countryside and various urban areas. The first tour was to a wildlife refuge then to a botanical garden. The third day was in Ciefeugos

Santiago de Cuba

We saw the Vigin del Cobre bascilica, then the center of the city.
