We had taken many cruises on the Disney Cruise Line but we hadn't tried any other lines or taken a northern cruise and this one did not disappoint. We did Halifax, St. John, Boston, New Port, and New York City. The Gem is an older ship, but very well maintained and not as big as some of the newer additions. The excursions were good, well organized and worth the money. I especially enjoyed the ...
The room we were “upgraded” to was above a bar and shook and rattled all night keeping us up. I am a light sleeper and when I booked the cruise I asked for a quiet room. My husband is a heavy sleeper and couldn’t sleep in this cabin. So disappointed. The ports were excellent and it’s why we choose Canada and New England. The captain was unable to port in New Brunswick through no fault of his own. ...
There were only two instances keeping this from being the perfect cruise. First was the extremely hard sell after my massage. It made me so tense that the wonderful massage I got was null. My husband experienced the same with his massage, plus his therapist tried to do upsell in the middle of his massage. It made it to where he couldn’t relax after that. When getting a massage a person does not ...
Took this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. Wanted to catch the eastern fall colours
We have done several cruises (mainly with NCL) but we get the feeling that their shipboard experience has deteriorated considerably. It seems that everywhere you turn, they are charging extra for things that used to be complimentary. Maybe we are getting more critical after having been on several cruises, ...
Wanted to see fall colors. Loved Quebec City. Go see Montmorrecy Falls and Basilica St. Anne. Breathtaking and enjoyed fall colors. Sydney was nice but no big deal. Peggy’s Cove was breathtaking and gorgeous. Bar Harbour was soooo beautiful and lots of fall colors. Weather is a huge factor for this cruise. We were prepared with our coats, hats, scarves and gloves. But had St. John cancelled ...
My spouse and I previously cruised on Princess and Royal Caribbean before so I had high hopes for Norwegian Cruise Lines until AFTER I read their reviews AFTER I paid off our cruise and found this website. Needless to say, we will NEVER cruise on this cruise line ever again.
After reading the negative reviews on this site, I really did want to give Norwegian a fair shot and form my own ...
This was our second Norwegian cruise and our first "cold-water" cruise. It was also our first experience cruising in a suite. To start, as others have pointed out, the ship was wonderfully refurbished although the layout remains quirky. That said, by day 2 it was easy to figure out where everything was and the best way to get their.
Next the staff, start to finish, outstanding. El, ...
The ship was excellent, so much to do, so organized, balcony room was worth every penny. The rooms were so clean, much better then i've found with other cruise lines. Employees were great, they even learned our names. Boarding and getting off the ship was very organized, quick, and efficient. Having the app to use was a very nice feature, I could upload a photo on the app rather then having to get ...
We had room service and a scrumptious breakfast on the days we had an early tour and it was no extra cost. We enjoyed high tea only once we need to take a longer tour with a day st sea so we can enjoy all the benefits on the ship. We loved the Alaskan king crab legs and the specialty restaurants we loved the Nordic spa experience. They really thought of everything when they designed the ship there ...
This was our 18th cruise and our first Canada/New England. Carnival had no ships there in 2018 so we went on Royal. We have been on Allure and I consider it to be too big. Anthem is very large but did not have the problems of the Oasis class ships (small theater, comedy venue, etc.).
Departure was smooth but traffic at the port is terrible and only about half of the drop off area is used. ...
