We got here one day ahead and visited the Vassa Museum. I highly recommend it. we didn't have time to do anything else, but Stockholm is a beautiful city.

The first museum seemed more like it was meant for children than adults. The second site was better, especially the Gold Room.

We docked outside of the city, so had to take the Stromma Hop On Hop Off buses in. Wish that Stromma would have left a bit earlier, but we did not leave dock until almost 90 minutes after getting off ship as we had to wait until bus filled up almost completely before they would leave. That took precious time away from us, so I would not recommend them. While in Stockholm on our own we visited the Vasa museum, Skansen, the Abba museum and Gamla Stan. It was a hectic pace to see all that, but we wanted to squeeze in as much as possible. We especially enjoyed Skansen and Gamla Stan, especially a Swedish lunch at Magnus Ladulas in Gamla Stan. I would probably recommend not doing all this, as it was pretty exhausting. Unless you are a tremendous Abba fan I would skip the museum and focus on other sights. Unfortunately we had to wait almost an hour for the Stromma bus to take us back to the cruise and we came close to missing the ship! Again, I highly recommend not relying on the Stromma buses! Stockholm was another interesting old city with lots to see and do (we toured the Vassa Museum which was spectacular) and tried to see all of the hi-lights before having to return by train (1 hour ride each direction).

Free time gave us an opportunity to take a water taxi and visit the Wassa museum. Loved the town.

We walked all over the Gamla Stan (old town) - scenic but nothing special relative to other ports. The Royal Palace is big, but not as nice as that in Amsterdam.

This was advertised as Stockholm but was in fact an hour away in Nynashamn . Wasn't impressed by it. There was nothing of interest there. We would have taken a train into Stockholm if we had known it was so boring.

Loved the cruise into Stockholm... Amazing! The city tour was good but again a bit lacking in substance.

We bought a day ticket for the local transport at the cruise terminal, £7.69 each for seniors. We then followed the blue line to find the bus stop near the terminal and took the bus, later changing to a tram, to the Abba Museum. Having seen this when Jayne Macdonald did the Baltic cruise in her programme, and all being mega Abba fans, this was a must do. Throw yourself in and do all the experiences there. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their time, some 3 hours, at the ABBA experience. Afterwards, we took the local ferry to Gamla Stan (the old town), which was included in our local transport day ticket where we had a lovely local lunch at Ardbeg Embassy, then wandered and tourist shopped on the way to picking up the ships shuttle. This was when we found that there had been major demonstrations that day holding up the upper end of the old town - none of which had impacted us until now. The ships shuttles had been held up by the stopped traffic. There was no need to worry though, after being directed to the new pick up place for the shuttle, and having a grand tour of outer Stockholm to find a way round to getting back to the ship, there was never any worry that the ship would wait for us. If we had known about the delay though, we would have just used the local ferries and our all day tickets to get back to the ship - it would defintely have been much quicker, if less eventful. A very nice place but felt a little flat (on a Sunday Morning) after the beauty and madness of Russia. Good transfer bus laid on.

Again, not enough time and not enough options. We spent as much time leaving port as we did in the town. Very disappointing.
