I chose this cruise because of the awesome ports and wanting to give MSC a try. The price was really good too. Embarkation was extremely quick and smooth. I had a balcony room on the 14th floor. Spacious room with the smallest shower I have ever seen. This was my first solo cruise and I enjoyed it so much that I already have the next one booked. The ship is absolutely beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly. I had heard that the food is just okay and I agree. I didn't do any specialty restaurants. The cruise critic meet and mingle was great. The following day there was another get together for travel agents as well as a question and answer session with the captain. I saw the captain alot. He was very nice and took lots of pictures with people. The excursions were very nice and occurred just as advertised. The transportation for the one in St. Thomas was very uncomfortable. Puerto Rico and St. Maarten were well organized and comfortable. The costumes and talent in the onboard shows was awesome. Show content was a little weird at times. Pole dancers at weird moments. I heard two really good singing groups island notes and the magic duo. Disembarkation was a complete nightmare. The price would have to be really good for me to try MSC again. Read Less

MSC is a great cruise line that we first went aboard several years ago in the MED. My wife and I have taken 6 different cruises with them and found all to be just fine. The best part is the shows at night. Second to none. The performances are just great. The food I am o Heart Healthy diet and they do a great job putting all my meals together. We eat each meal at the Buffet. So to fix it seperate is just great. Plan on another cruise with them in December. We have sail many times with Carnival and Princess. Both are o.k. but they are not MSC. The ships are just beautiful to walk around and look at. Yes you have to overlook the many different cultures but ever be afraid to learn from others and their way of life. Thank You Joseph Hardin Coxs Creek KY Read Less

This is our 4th time sailing with MSC... we always have the best time! Embarkation and disembarkation is the best! The shows are fantastic ... best on any other cruise line! We always find the staff to be friendly and kind.... we did not sail yatch club! We had an aura balcony ... we loved the thermal spa. Although the portions are small in the dining room we don’t mind it because we always end up having late night snack of pizza, cookies and tea!! The buffet has a good variety of food... make sure you go through all the stations ... more then one! They have more then enough bars on ship so you don’t need to worry about getting a drink! Which is why they don’t have bartenders coming around constantly bugging you for a drink... I didn’t have a problem going to the bar to get one.... the Venchi bar had the best chocolate martini! If you’re thinking about cruising with them don’t hesitate... it’s definitely worth the money! Read Less

This was my very first cruise and I am very happy with my very first "cruising" experience on MSC Seaside. Everything was exceptional: the ship, its crew, service, food, entertainment. We had a stateroom with balcony, very comfortable and clean. Cabins were cleaned on a daily basis, towels were changed practically twice a day, which was amazing. No one was knocking on the door with "cleaning service" announcement, somehow they knew when our cabin was "free" for cleaning. The buffet offered a great variety of food; yes, as some of the reviewers noticed the buffet catered to european guests, but there was still plenty options left to satisfy "traditional" american guest. I liked the fact that majority of the guest spoke different languages but maybe because I am originally from Europe and I like to be around other cultures. The crew was very friendly, hard working and very respectful. It was international crew, but they all spoke English well enough to be able to communicate. Entertainment was great, bars, lounges, anything you can think of to make guests happy and relaxed. I will definitely be back. Read Less

After cruising several times on the same brand ship we decided to venture out and try a new brand. We found MSC and saw where they do loyalty match so we started researching them. We decided on the Seaside out of Miami and booked our cruise. The day we embarked we noticed a much quicker process and loved it. Their customer service center was huge and quick. Once on board the hype was all true...this ship was gorgeous. I was definitely not disappointed. I quickly realized there wasn’t a hole punched in my room card and thought how will I wear this on my lanyard? To my great surprise they offered wristbands to wear that did all the functions of your room card. My favorite part was no one hardly wore their cards around their neck to prove status or feel privileged in some way. I was worried about the food since I personally am a picky eater, but I found plenty to eat and was never hungry. The ship was always clean and the staff was friendly. We had the privilege of meeting the captain and I must say he was amazing. He had a great personality and humor. We saw him walking on the ship one day with another officer so we didn’t even try to bother him and he stopped and spoke to us like we were family. Now the shows. I loved everyone of the shows on this ship and can honestly say all of the performers were great and you could see how they got their job. It really made the other brands shows look like amateur hour. I am so glad we tried this ship and have booked another cruise on MSC on the Magnifica. We had another cruise booked on the other brand ship and have decided to loose the deposit and cruise with MSC. Read Less

This is the second time I cruise with MSC along with my family of 4 -- myself, both parents, and sibling. This time we set sail on MSC Seaside, but I'll attempt to compare the experience with my next best knowledge having set sail two years prior on MSC Divina. In general, both ships are very luxurious, from the evening dinners (especially the gala night) to the overall look and design of each deck. MSC definitely caters to an international audience which is really neat if you want to immerse yourself in different cultures. There were many European guests throughout the ship, and most of the staff throughout the ship are literally from all over the world. MSC Seaside is a gigantic ship and feels just as such when walking through the different decks. Although, it did seem bigger than MSC Divina, much of the extra space felt that it went to more decks for extra cabins to fit more people on the ship. The decks on MSC Seaside where the fun happens seemed very similar to those as the MSC Divina with the exception that it did seem to have an extra pool throughout the ship and an extra Buffet restaurant, but the main theater did seem smaller compared to the one on MSC Divina although it had 3 different show times each night compared to the two on MSC Divina. The entertainment atmosphere was just as expected and very lively and full of energy throughout each day. MSC Seaside has a great entertainment staff always putting up fun games, activities, dance competitions and rallying the crowds up for their parties each night. 70s night was definitely a favorite! One thing I missed was the morning shows recorded the day of on MSC Divina on things to look forward to each day that I would play on the TV as I was getting ready each morning and where I had a chance to submit questions to be answered by the hosts of the TV shows. On MSC Seaside, the morning shows seemed to be prerecorded and dull when compared to the entertainment factor offered on MSC Divina. My family and I partook in the main restaurant evening dinner each of the 7 nights. The food was a delicious gourmet dish served to perfection. Even better than the food however, were our two waiters, Mr. Destawa and Mr. Romano who were very friendly, attentive, and offered perfect suggestions on what to choose for dinner each night. Our waiters alone made each night enjoyable and something to look forward to every time. Awesome job! For morning breakfast, midday and evening snacks we usually went to the Buffet dinner room on deck 16 or the Market Buffet on deck 8. Both buffets served a great variety of food during main eating times, but their pizzas did not disappoint as a midnight snack. This was our first time we booked an excursion through the ship and the trip to the Tulum Ruins in Mexico did not disappoint. This MSC Seaside route felt that it had more variety in terms of stops when compared to our MSC Divina route two years ago. Each of the port stops were great, fun, and offered different types of experiences. Our last port of visit to Nassau, Bahamas did however get cancelled due to a Tropical Storm watch along with our prebooked excursion the night before which was unfortunate. The crew made that last day a Sea day which in my opinion was somewhat unfortunate as we had already been at sea the day before. I wish the ship would have been routed to the Florida keys as it was within distance or return to port of Miami for an optional disembarkation rather than have done circles in the Atlantic. At the very least, complimentary WiFi would have been nice! My only few real qualms was the customer service during embarkation check-in with the representative throwing our documents around without any care and not providing any directions on what to look forward to. And my other qualm was observing some supervisors disciplining their employees in front of guests. In my opinion, it only served to humiliate the employee and left me feeling somewhat embarrassed as a guest for the employees. This wasn't very common, but just a shocker the two different times I was observant to it. Overall, MSC has been a delight to set sail with and they can expect a third booking in the near future where I look forward to having more fun along with family and friends! Read Less

This was my fourth time on the Seaside . Each time has been a great experience. I’ve already booked it for February. Let me be clear about the passengers before going on about the cruise . The makeup is mostly foreign with I’d say only about 30% American. The environment of the ship is culturally different . Manners and politeness are often missing . Cabin : The size more than adequate though closet space is limited and not enough drawers. The way to get around this is to bring magnetic hooks to place on walls ( hang hats, bags, bathing suits etc ). Bring a velcro hanging shoe bag for the closet for shoes or clothing. Food : enough choices to find something you like . There’s always a chicken, steak or fish option if you don’t like the menu of the day. I found Tiramisu to die for one day on the menu. My husband had two shrimp cocktail every day . Specialty restaurant: Butchers Cut has filet mignon you can cut with a fork it’s so soft and rack of lamb prepared exactly like I like it. Entertainment: The cruise Director Eric is top notch. Humorous, energetic and involved. Shows : the best I’ve ever screen on any cruise . We normally sit in the rear in case we don’t enjoy the show . On this ship we get to the show as early as possible to get front row seats . Staff everywhere are helpful and engaging even when English is not their first language . With that said go with an open mind and book it. It’s well worth it. Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly because of the interesting ports of call and the ship itself. We had sailed with MSC before, on the Divina, which we found to be so we decided to go back and to try the Yacht Club and booked an interior Yacht Club suite, The whole experience in the Yacht Club was extremely good. Embarkation: we dropped of our bags at a special “Yacht Club” drop off point and were promptly guided to security (priority access); afterwards we were guided to a lounge and had do the formalities (check-in, cruise cards) and were offered some snacks and champagne. Once you were ready, you could board the ship whenever you wished. All in all, we were on the ship in less than 30 minutes and had a drink and some snacks - great start! Interior Suite: our stateroom was lovely, spacious, enough storage, good linen and towels - good bathroom was the MSC shampoo & body wash. However our room had no windows, no balcony it felt lovely and cozy. A welcome bottle of Prosecco was waiting in our room upon arrival. Nightly turndown was provided. Yacht club : we were blown away by the service provided by all YC Team Members - nothing was too much trouble. The private Yacht Club only spaces (pool, restaurant, hot tub, top sail lounge) are well decorated, luxurious, never overcrowded and always accessible. You have a separate concierge desk for all requests, so no need to go out of the YC if not wished. The Yacht Club Grill is lovely, and serves great food next to the pool. Top Sail Lounge is very relaxing with live music every evening. The restaurant serves a very fine cuisine and has good portions. Entertainment: lovely shows (including the famous Michael Jackson show), live music is never far away. I have tried the zipline and it was great! Pools and slides were cool. Hot tubs were perfect - not too hot. Overall experience : amazing experience with attention to detail. We would definitely do this again. Read Less

My wife and I do a couple cruises per year but this was the first for MSC. We took the Seaside August 31, 2019. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the negative comments in other reviews but our experience was great. Would definitely do it again. We usually sail the larger ships of NCL, Royal Caribbean, etc and this ship seemed to be a perfect size. The Seaside is the most elegant ship we have ever been on. It is done in a very contemporary style and was very clean. The Grand Piazza was spectacular with four levels of grandeur including curved stairways with Swarovski crystal stair treads. Amazing. They have also done a fabulous job of utilizing outside space. Both buffet restaurants had lots of outside seating with great views. The buffet food was okay and varied. Most evenings we ate in the main dining room which was beautiful. We had very friendly waiters but again the food was just average compared to other cruise lines. The speciality restaurants were all in one place and very difficult to find.... plus expensive. We did hibachi one night and the bill was over $40 each with no drinks. It was also...just average. It did have a few quirky things... like the main adult pool was small and the whole pool was 6.5 feet deep with no steps so you have to hang onto the side all the time. It was salt water which was really nice but I still couldn’t just float like some other people. It was on the back of the ship and we had great ocean views from our chairs. .. and the lounge chairs had a built in pillow which made them very comfortable. They also have a great kids area with lots of water slides, pools, zip lines, etc. Our room was just a basic balcony cabin and was very beautiful. It had a desk and large sofa. The bed and pillows were very comfortable... the bathroom however was quite small. Our shower was only 24” by 24”. When you book the cruise they give you three different amenity levels. We choose the middle one which added about $150 to the total but it allowed you to choose your cabin. I think it is worth it since some balcony cabins have obstructed views or metal railings instead of glass. And now to my favorite part... the entertainment. I was not expecting very much and was totally pleasantly surprised. There was various entertainment venues around the ship with something going on most of the time but the nightly theater shows were spectacular. They had a different show every night with usually three times to pick from. They were only about an hour long each but was high energy from start to finish. It included large stage props, music, dancing, costumes, magic, comedy, and some unbelievable Cirque type acts. Embarkation and debarkation was also very organized and getting on and off was less than an hour. We are looking forward to cruise the Seaside again or try some of the other MSC ships. Read Less

We took 7-nights from 8-17 to 8-24 Eastern Caribbean Cruise. After getting in line for our original Aurea Experience spa balcony room with priority embarkation, we were pulled out of line and taken to The Yacht Club lounge for embarkation because we had submitted a bid for an upgrade and found out we got it right then. WOW. We never expected it, but it was so wonderful. The private Yacht Club suite comes with a butler who was at our beck and call 24-hrs a day. Our mini suite was stocked with liquors of our choice and we could have it restocked daily for entire cruise. Also, instead of using breakfast door menu, we got up whenever and ordered what we wanted and it arrived in less than 10 minutes. Also, we ate dinner in The Yacht Club restaurant each evening, the Top Sail lounge for snacks, or the Yacht Club Grill & Bar on private Deck 19 pool area. Everyone treated us like valued members and cruisers even though it was our first cruise on MSC. Just like first class compared to coach on an airplane, it would be hard to ever go back to anything less than The Yacht Club experience on MSC. Read Less

Background This was my 80th cruise overall, with most of them being on Celebrity in the past, followed by Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America, Cunard and Carnival. We found an incredible offer back in February on this 7-day cruise and could not pass it up. My partner and I went and traveled with a close friend of ours who booked a solo cabin. Pre-Cruise We started our journey in Miami. We actually flew into Fort Lauderdale the day before, picked up a rental car and enjoyed lunch before heading to Miami. We checked into the Holiday Inn Seaport and then returned the rental car. We took an Uber into South Beach for dinner before retiring for the night. We checked out at 11am and headed to the port via an Uber, which was very inexpensive. The Ship We arrived at the port and were onboard before noon. The entire process was easy. The ship is stunning. Magnificently constructed, although the gray and burgundy theme inside was not my favorite color palette, it was gorgeous. The layout was fun and different than any ship I had been on. The majority of the fellow passengers were from Europe, and we loved it. Our stateroom was on the 13th floor, a balcony aft. We had booked an inside guarantee and the upgrade fairy gave us a kiss... the first time ever for me to have this kind of upgrade! Also, MSC did a status match of my status with Celebrity, which was amazing. We loved the aft elevator being right outside our door and gave us quick access to the upper pool deck on 16 or the adult only pool on deck 7. Also, the buffet on either deck 16 or deck 8. Our stateroom was very spacious and perfect, I could not have asked for anything different. Food is always subjective. I have to say in my opinion, MSC does a very good job. The buffets for breakfast and lunch had a beautiful array of foods with a lot of variety. Overall everything was very good and we were always more than happy with what our choices were. At dinner, we had the 7:30pm seating on deck 5, table for 3. The food was very good, I still give Celebrity tops, but I have to say I think that MSC rivals the food that the rest of the lines offer. Service in the main dining room lacked a bit, our team had 3 other large tables of families, and they were all high maintenance, but we were patient and enjoyed. They do three seatings in two different dining rooms. Very courageous, but they pull it off.. the thought is exhausting to me if I were a server! The shows were excellent. We saw two, which we booked from an interactive screen onboard. We saw Wizard and Starwalker, both excellent. Just like the dining times being divided into 3, so are the shows. The theater is small and intimate, I think the smallest I have encountered. I did notice the missing orchestra pit and musicians, which I did really miss. Overall a great experience. The onboard entertainment was excellent. There was always something going on, and the live musicians were all very good. There were theme nights throughout the cruise that for the first time I have ever seen... people participated with vigor! They brought outfits and all. I have to say, I do not know how they knew about them as I never saw anything about them other than the white party, which I saw a post on Instagram about. The ports were great, although I would like the port times to be tweaked, but I understand the logistics with the 7-day itinerary. We were in San Juan first, from 5pm-1am. We walked into town and did dinner and had some cocktails. Next up was St. Thomas from 7am-7pm, we went to Secret Harbor and had a fabulous day of snorkeling and lounging. The restaurant there is not great and expensive, but the rest of the day was perfect. Third stop was St. Maarten from 7am-2pm, which is really too short if you want to go to Maho or across to Orient Bay, so we just walked into town and enjoyed our time. Last stop was Nassau from 12pm-6pm, where we went to Junkanoo beach which was just a few minute walk and we had a great day there. The chair hogs were out in the most amazing display I have ever seen. During peak times on days at sea I would say that 80% of the chairs were sitting empty with towels on them. Horrible. And nobody policing them. This is where the line needs to step up their game. The adult pool was great, although it was very deep at 6'5"... so be aware. It is salt water, which I loved. We had the easy package included with our stateroom and it was fantastic. They let you get two drinks at once, so we would often do doubles as their pours are small. If you want a foo-foo drink that is over the limit, they let you order one as a virgin with a shot on the side ;-). The internet was the best I have ever experienced. Instead of charging by the minute they charge by the GB. I loved it. I had a 3GB package included with the room and I worked every day and only used 1GB of it. If you avoid social media, videos and pics you are golden if you need to work. It was fast, too. Very happy. In the end.. MSC, you have us. We loved it and cannot wait to return. The value for the money is amazing. Read Less

The ship and the price are the primary reason for choosing MSC. Embarkation was very smooth, we had the Aurea experience so there was priority boarding. We were on the ship before noon and went straight to the kiosk to link credit card to ship card. Then went to the spa to schedule our Aurea massages. Scheduled for the first sea day. Massages were awesome. We went to the thermal spa daily. Ship overall was very clean and we'll kept. The staff was very efficient and very friendly. Four of us had the Aurea experience and two had Bella so we spoke with the hostess at the restaurant and were able to all eat together in my choice dining. Meals were excellent. One of our party is allergic to garlic and they were amazingly accommodating and even had the chef prepare food for the next day without garlic. Our waiters Mark and Thomas were amazing remembered our likes and dislikes. The shows were excellent especially Starwalker, a must see. We tried the bowling, 5D ytheater, the waterslide and the Zipline. Enjoyed all. We only did one MSC excursions at Ocho Rios the transportation was very well organized for Mystic Mountain, it all became very confusing when we arrived at Dunn River falls. More a problem with the local guide than with MSC. At Cayman Islands if you want or need to get ashore quickly you need to get in line very early for tender tickets. Highlights were the pizza, cheeseburgers, gelato and Venti chocolate. The chocolate martini was extra but well worth it. A different show every night was great, reserving ahead of time and arriving early is recommended. 124 nation's were represented aboard which we found made the cruise very interesting. All of the staff spoke English and the officers all appeared to be fluent in multiple languages. The cruise critic meet and mingle was the cruise critic cocktail party and all ship officers were present, a picture was taken of everyone with the officers and delivered to our cabins. We recommend this ship and will definitely sail with MSC again. Read Less

We picked this cruise because the price is reasonable/cheaper than Carnival. 1. The embarkation and disembarkation were smoothly. 2. Ship is new and clean 3. Cabin is small just like any cruise ship cabin. The shower area seems small. 4. Breakfast/ lunch is good. Formal dining at night is good (way better than Chili’s, TGI Friday’s, Applebee’s . Comparable to Red Lobster but fewer selection. 5. Entertainment is great. Quality of shows is excellent. 5 stars to Steve Young (director of entertainment). All of the family shows are great, Peter Punk, Butterfly, Michael Jackson. But all adults shows perform by a group of 4 person is just ok. Would like to have few standup comedians shows. 6. Service is good. 7. Port and shore excursions have good timing. Except Saint Martin 7am to 2pm. We would like to go again. MSC going to have new ships in 2022, definitely looking forward to this one Read Less

Sailed in July 2019. Our fifth time on the Seaside and our best to date. Embarkation was quick and painless and we were on board within 15-20 minutes. We were met by our butler in the Top Sail and he took our carry-on luggage immediately to our stateroom so that we could relax. Booked spa and shows within 15 minutes, then went had a leisurely lunch up on the one pool deck. We then went to our room, where our checked luggage was already waiting for us. Muster drill was in the theater and everyone was actually quiet and listened. Many times that does not happen. We had a balcony cabin and it was very spacious for the two of us, with ample storage and a large shower in the bathroom. New things this cruise in the Yacht Club was the addition of a stir fry station at the pool on the first sea day, and a cooking demonstration and pasta station on the second sea day. Also added are two new signature dishes on elegant nights. They were delicious! A deck party in the evening has also been added on the one pool deck. For eastern itineraries, it is a dinner buffet and for western itineraries, it is a cocktail buffet with hor d'oeuvres. There is also live music and dancing. Service was outstanding both within and outside of the Yacht Club. We did see the shows and enjoyed them although we had seen some previously. We also enjoyed the Seaview lounge and the Piazza on deck 6, as well as the Venchi Chocolate Bar. Debarkation was very quick, due to the fact that they are using facial recognition. Fifteen minutes tops. Read Less

MSC have beautiful ships, this was our second cruise with them and would not hesitate to book again. Check in was less that 15 minutes. MSC Seaside is huge, very modern, funky and stylish and like on any ship embarkation days and sea days are generally busy around the pool and buffet area, this ship was no exception. However on port days things were more settled as passengers come and go at their leisure. There was 2 huge buffets, the main one on deck 8 went all the way around the ship and the food choice is just exceptional and to a very high standard. MDR food was very good, lots of different choices, something for everyone. Pools are deep and sea water but good to lounge in, not really made for swimming lengths in and they do get crowded. children’s / Teen facilities are out of this world. The children’s swimming area is fantastic, with slides and climbing areas, it was always busy with kids having fun. Staff were attentive and smiley. Room steward was amazing. Shows, we saw 3, All were very good. Skywalker being the best and got booked very quickly, so make sure you book up as soon as you get on. We didn’t do any ship excursions we booked independtly online before the cruise and they were all very good. Elegant night most people made an effort and dressed up at least smart, but no one was frowned upon if they chose not to. There are other nationalities on board so be prepared for announcements to be made in multi languages. Cannot fault anything about this ship, food, staff or MSC. I Wouldn’t hesitate to book MSC again and MSC Seaside is just a big floating beautiful baby. Read Less

This was a family cruise. Three generations. All of us loved it. We had great food, great service, great entertainment in the theater and lounges as well as on deck, terrific beverage choices and a fantastic crew. Couldn’t ask for more. We booked this cruise with the grandkids in mind. Two girls ages 12 and 13. To our amazement they never went to the pre- teen club that we thought they would love. Unfortunately the hours it was open didn’t work well with our schedule and other activities. They also never used the water slides. Truly a surprise as we would travel every year to the Wisconsin Dells specifically for the water slides. They were busy with exploring the ship, participating in crafts, swimming in the pools, using the zip line attending the movies by the pool, seeing the shows in the theater and attending some of the late night parties (like white night) with their parents when they weren’t wiped out from visiting the ports (their favorite part of the cruise). We booked a balcony cabin, Fantastica experience, and found it comfortable and with plenty of space for storage. We did not need all the magnetic hooks we brought or the extra storage shelves. Many people have expressed concern about the pools being 6 feet deep. Trust me it’s not a problem. I am 72 years old and do not swim. After my first entry into the pool, clinging to the edge, my husband convinced me that the salt water would keep me afloat just like the “noodle “ I use at home. He was correct and I enjoyed the pools without concern from then on. We went to several shows in the theater and enjoyed them as well as the lounge shows. There is various entertainment going in all over the ship every evening. We thought we would never stay up late enough to enjoy but we did. So worth it. I had a color, cut and style done at the salon and was very pleased. Also booked a massage and enjoyed that as well We thought our daughters and son-in-law would be using the gym but that never happened either. There just isn’t enough time to do all you want. Most mornings you get up and ready, have breakfast, head off to port, return in time for dinner, head to a show, enjoy some of the evening entertainment or activities and off to bed. Another day has disappeared. The ship is beautiful as everyone says. The food was better than we expected and service was very good . We found the staff and officers available, friendly and always willing to help. We enjoyed it so much that we booked two more MSC cruises for next year. Read Less

The Seaside is a beautiful and elegant Ship. The Spa is so amazing. They have to have more Latin Food, Caribbean Food, variety. The Casino spectacular and the Waiters at bars and restaurants excellent. I am not to happy with The ports of calls since they are the same since MSC Cruise came in 2014, so we are so tired of the same ones already. They are more ports like Puerto Plata, La Romana, Dominican Republic, More of Aruba, Curacao, etc. Also the entertainment actives are great. Thank God they are having more latin DJs. The most beatiful thing are the shoes, The Broadways styles shows, they are amazing. The Welcome back to the ship in some of the ports are so great! Read Less

My wife and I recently completed our cruise aboard the MSC Seaside in the Yacht Club Royal Suite. This was not our first cruise with MSC, and we had no reservations about the number of initial complaints that Seaside received on her first year at sea based on our past experience with MSC Cruises. Overall, this cruise surpassed our previous Divina cruises, and all other Disney Concierge cruises we have taken to date. The YC staff aboard Seaside really out performed all others in this category from the moment we arrived in the Yacht Club embarkation lounge, all the way until our butler personally escorted us off the ship down to customs a week later. YACHT CLUB ENTRY & SECURITY The Yacht Club Welcome / Entry at Terminal F consists of 3 white pop-up tents and a couple of folding tables. Our transport arrived to pick us up at our hotel (DoubleTree Biscayne Bay) at 10:45 a.m, and we arrived at Port Miami, Terminal F about 15 mins later. Three staff members were waiting at the White YC tents outside the terminal where they checked us in, tagged and took our luggage, then escorted us through security and into the YC embarkation lounge. YACHT CLUB RECEPTION Getting through security was easier than your typical trip through airport security – no need to remove our shoes or electronics from our carry-on bags. Our Yacht Club guide waited for us to get through the metal detectors and took us through the main waiting area and directly into the Yacht Club embarkation lounge. We quickly met with a representative who took our boarding tickets and passports, and directed us towards the bar where we collected a welcome drink and some light snacks. About 5 mins later, she called us up to the check-in desk took our photos, and provided us with our cruise cards and wristbands. We sat back down for about 5 more mins to enjoy a variety of pastries, donuts, chocolates, fruit, orange juice and champagne… as much as we wanted. It wasn’t long after that before a shoreside butler came and got us along with three other families for an escort up to the Top Sail Lounge aboard the ship. BOARDING SEASIDE We were guided by a butler on to the ship and to the Yacht Club priority elevator in the forward bank on deck 6 which took us straight to deck 16. Exiting the elevator, we were welcomed through the Yacht Club doors where I got to use my wristband for the first time, and then guided to the Top Sail lounge down an absolutely magical corridor – well it seemed magical on the first day. MSC Cruises really has the embarkation process down to a science. We were on the ship in less than an hour from the time we stepped out of our transport to the terminal. Inside the Top Sail lounge, we were greeted by a waiter who asked us what time we'd like to eat dinner, and if we would be celebrating any special birthdays, etc. We sat down on the comfortable velvet couches and were offered our choice of beverages. I ordered a Sam Adams Boston Lager and a double shot of bourbon. There was also a small “buffet” of fancy snacks, sandwiches, and mini pastries. All for the taking - the vacation had truly begun at that point. About 30 mins later (12:30-ish) our butler escorted us to our Royal Suite for the week and gave us a quick tour of the suite and all the services available to us. He later came back and got us to show us our pool-side cabana reserved for passengers staying in the Royal Suite. That was an amenity that I was aware of, but didn't think I would use very much because I do like to socialize with my fellow passengers during our family cruises, but it was a welcome treat that we enjoyed all week. Back to the suite - it was magnificent with plenty of room for the two of us to spread out, unpack, store the luggage out of sight and truly enjoy the week that was to come. Our three daughters joined us on this cruise, but they were staying in the Yacht Club Deluxe suite next door (suite 16029). The suite included a large deck with a 6-person dining table where we enjoyed breakfast two mornings, and diner one evening. Other than that, it was a nice place to gather with the kids on those mornings as we pulled into ports and enjoy the scenery together. The deck also included a jetted hot-tub, two loungers, and two chairs. Our butler opened the partition between the decks so that our daughters could enjoy the space without having to knock on our door all week. The Top Sail Lounge, as with other MSC ships with Yacht Club enclaves was one of my favorite places on the ship. And even with the tremendous amount of space we enjoyed in our suite, my wife and I still spent a good amount of time in there enjoying drinks, conversation, and the company of our fellow yacht club passengers. The yacht club pool deck was great, and featured a cooktop grill, buffet, and fully stocked bar. It was well used on our cruise by everyone cruising that week. Overall the ship and crew were fantastic and we truly had another great time aboard the MSC Seaside. It has us eagerly anticipating our next MSC cruise aboard the Meraviglia departing on March 15, 2020. Read Less

With all the negative reviews we were scared, but did it anyway. The ship is amazing and beautiful. We saw so many reviews of the staff being horrible, but they were amazing. We never had a problem getting a drink at any of the bars. My favorite was the Venchi bar. The drinks are amazing and so tasty. Our room was a typical balcony ship room. The bathroom is tight and 6 more inches would have done wonders, but very workable. We had 3 large suitcases that after being unpacked fit perfectly under the bed. No storage issues at all. Our waiter in the MDR, Melvin, was wonderful. He made wonderful suggestions and the one time that I did not like the dish, he got me a new meal very quickly. He was very attentive. The show's are amazing with the acrobats and singers. Just amazing. I love that they are short so that it keeps the attention of my little one. Read Less

From arrival at the Port of Miami until departure we had such an amazing experience with only a few little hiccups. Travelled with family, including my 10 and 9 year old children. Embarkation was a breeze, arrived just before 11am and was onboard by 1130/1145 hours. The Seaside is absolutely stunning, total wow factor when you first get onboard into the atrium. Got all our essential bookings sorted straight away i.e. shows, massage (comes with Aurea) - would recommend this. The MSC for me App is great, I used it for booking the shows and viewing the daily planner to work out our itinerary for each day. CABIN We were Aurea Experience and had balcony cabin 9061. Anyone booking Aurea, I would recommend deck 9 as you get a bigger balcony with sun loungers on them at no extra cost. Some people believe they are exposed to the balconies above and there's a loss of privacy however, I did not feel this at all. On port days I ordered breakfast to the cabin and it was lovely sitting out on the balcony with a coffee eating our breakfast. The cabin was clean and our room Steward was lovely, they really do work so hard. Storage is a bit limited but you can put your suitcases under the bed and use them as drawers. The kids had the sofa bed that converted into bunks which was cool. I also didn't have any issue with the size of the shower like I've seen mentioned by others and the water pressure was great. DINING/FOOD etc Aurea has anytime dining, one of the reasons for booking Aurea I like flexibility, and I believe are always assigned to the Seashore restaurant. The MDR food was in the main ok and sometimes nice. I've seen others talk about the wonderful personal experience they got at the MDR, I didn't feel this but I think this is because we were anytime so you don't have the same table and server everynight unlike Bella and Fantastica. There was some confusion sometimes with the waiters serving kids main course then entree while we got entree then main course. I did query it the first time it happened and i was told by the waiter this is how it was supposed to be...mmm i don't think so, however, whatever, i just rolled with it and didn't say anything when it happened for a 2nd time. There are several Speciality Restaurants onboard. MSC offers some packages pre-sailing and they are definately a better deal if they suit you. We only wanted to do the Teppanyaki and they didn't offer that as a single deal pre-sailing so instead i booked once onboard, on the first day there is plenty of staff walking about offering discounts so if wanting to do it, its the best time to book. We booked it and dined on the first night. It was lovely and a good show too. We also ordered the seafood platter from the Champagne Bar, discounts are advertised throughout the week. It was yummy and ever better washed down with a lovely chilled glass of champagne. There's no way we could spend a whole week onboard without visiting Venchi and it didn't disappoint. The kids loved the sundaes and milk shakes while my sister and I enjoyed the alchohol mixes. Chocolate Martini 2 and Chocolate Bubbles were the favourites. We were lucky, I had the Old Deluxe Package so this was included. It's such a shame they no longer do this in the updated Drinks Package. The limited times we used the Buffet, we enjoyed it, we went to deck 8 and there was plenty of choice and although it could get very busy you could still find table and chairs for your party. ENTERTAINMENT/ACTIVITIES There was lots to do onboard, that much that we couldn't cover everything we would have liked. Kids loved the Aquapark and spent a lot of time there when we were back on ship. We had the Fun Pass and used every amount of it and more. Bowling was fun but go early to get it booked. You pay for half hour or hour but I would have preferred they charged you per number of games. We only had the last throws to go and it cut out so didn't get to finish our game. We all had a shot of the zipline, kids loved it, me not so much, it was a bit sore sitting on the straps so i couldn't wait for it to end lol! We also done the XD Cinema, its more like interactive games, my son loved it, i felt a bit motion sick, alcohol probably didn't help lol. Kids also done the F1 and loved it. We wanted to do the Silent Disco but it's held in the area next to the adult smoking bar at the back of the ship so the area was stinking of smoke and we couldn't bare it so didn't hang around, I was really disappointed. We were all really looking forward to White Night but i need to be honest and say I was actually quite disappointed in it, the DJ's choice of music was a tad heavy for the mixed age group and this is coming from someone who likes a party and her dance tunes. Theres different shows every night in the theatre, we only attended 2, our dinner always ended up taking longer than anticipated and we couldn't make it in time for the rest. The first one, Butterflies was too operatic for us but Starwalker, the Michael Jackson one on the last night was great. SERVICE Overall the service was great everywhere we went on the ship. We had one issue with miscomunication on our first day. Aurea guests get wristbands included but on check in they only gave the 2 adults them and told us the kids would get theirs from Customer Service. Went to CS and they had no clue what I was were talking about and advised me to go to kids club. Yes we got them here but they came at a cost, $29 for 2. They did however have the tracker facility on them which was great but I was a bit miffed that the kids don't get them included with Aurea or at least at a discounted rate as they should get the $5 ones included. SPA Adults had a massage each with Aurea, we booked it as soon as we were onboard so we could get a decent selection of time for a Sea day. We went our first sea day morning and it was lovely, they didn't give us our Spa cocktail though lol. We didn't get a chance to use any of the other spa facilities but it looked lovely. CRUISE CRITIC MEET and GREET Got to say MSC put on a great wee event. Lots of lovely snacks, drinks and the cake was yummy, my kids loved it. Would recommend you go, they held it at 10am on the first Sea Day. TOP 19 SUN DECK Aurea again, you get access to this sun deck as part of your package and i loved it. Apart from first sea day it was lovely and quiet with no hassle getting a sun lounger. Because we had this we never once went to the main pool area to soak up the sun and thankfully managed to avoid the sun lounger challenge that you too often read about. This deck is also in close proximity to the onboard Aquapark so its ideal for the kids to nip away and play without being too far away. PORTS/SHORE EXCURSIONS Getting on and off the ship for each port was excellent and I loved the one wee party the staff threw for us coming back, wish they done it at every port. Jamaica-we loved Jamaica, it was our favourite stop. Booked a private excursion which took us to the Blue Hole which was amazing, horse riding into the Caribbean which we all loved too and then stopped for some local Jerk Chicken, yummy. Grand Cayman-another private excursion booked before sailing. Boat trip to snorkel, stingray city and starfish point. Another great wee day although my sister and the 2 kids got a bit freaked out by the stingrays, even my little 9 year old dare devil who thought nothing of jumping off the waterfall and the highest jump at Blue Hole the previous day. I was the champ that day. Cozumel-Playa Mia AI Deluxe Beach break booked with MSC. This was our only ship booked excursion and I have vowed never again to go with MSC on their excursions. They were surprisingly the cheapest deal i could find for this choice of excursion hence why i booked it with them. Their organisation of gathering us for this excursion was very disorganised and stressful and there was glaring obvious easier way to do it. Once out of the theatre, off the ship and heading to our buses it was a great day. Bahamas-we went to the Atlantis Aquapark but to do this i booked a room for one night at the Comfort Suites across the road as it was so much cheaper. They give you vouchers for access to the park for the day with your room. The prices for the Aquapark isn't worth it especially giving the short time you have in port here. Overall our time on MSC Seaside and her Western Itinery was absolutely amazing, so much so, when we got back i was missing her so much that I had to book us back on for next July but to do the Eastern itinerary. If anyone from MSC looks at these reviews and is interested in tips for improvements here are a few (none of which are deal breakers and did not impact on our wonderful time we had, we don't sweat the small stuff) 1.Include the Fun Pass balance on the MSC for me App so you can keep an eye on your Fun Pass balance the same way you can your onboard bill. 2. Relocate your Silent Disco, i saw just last week it was held on deck 5 in the Atrium, what a much better place for it, pleeaassee keep it here. 3. Review your gathering for excursions in the Theatre (albeit this may have been a one off and other ones are well organised). Why have people queue to get a sticker then send them to another queue to get a wristband, why not do it all at the one time? Also, person giving the stickers out said we only needed one of our party to collect the wristbands so I sent 2 of our party away but once we got to the next person in the second queue he wanted all the party so i had to wait until they came back and was stuck in an awkward posistion. 4. Wristbands, if Aurea or YC and kids are sent to get different bands should they not be included or even at least at a reduced rate? As i said these are just very minor, MSC Seaside is beautiful, staff are lovely, we had an amazing time. I know this is lengthy but I'm sure there is so much more i could say about the ship and it is all positive. Read Less

I have to say comparing NCL Haven and MSC Seaside Yacht club there is no comparison. MSC is head and shoulders above NCL. This cruise was possibility the best yet. Food amazing, service amazing, staff amazing. Everyday the executive staff greeted us. Met the Captain 4 times by the end of the cruise he knew our names. Restaurant staff top shelf made us feel like they were waiting for us to arrive every night. Butler and butler assistant were the best. We have sailed on Holland, Disney, Carnival, Norwegian and Royal. MSC by far out performs and outshines all of the previous cruises we have taken. We we nervous taking this trip after reading so many negative reviews online. After sailing on the MSC Seaside, I don’t know what cruise the negative reviewers were on but they obviously weren’t on the same ship we were on. No cruise line is perfect so let’s start with the negatives: 1) The elevators- There isn’t enough of them, they are small and slow. You have to pack your patience pants and just wait for them. 2) The hot tubs aren’t very hot and they close when the pools close around 10. 3) The buffet on 16 is only open for breakfast and lunch. 4) The time in some of the ports is too short. We were in St. Martin for 5 short hours and we were the only ship in port. We should have stayed for at least 7 hours. 5) The in-cabin television choices weren’t the best. No movies on a loop like other lines. That’s it for the negatives. On to the positive 1) The ship is beautiful and clean. 2) MSC has the highest safety rating in the Caribbean. 3) Our room was taken care of twice a day by a fabulous room steward. 4) Marco is the guy in charge of the special events and drawings for the shops. He’s a great guy both fun and funny. 5) The MDR staff was fantastic. Two members of our party of four have pretty severe food allergies, one to coconut and one to tree nuts. We had a cross contamination coconut scare one night. He was fine but we kind of scared our head waiter. After that she personally checked with the chef to make sure our main dish and dessert choices were safe for us. Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty! She made sure that no one at the table had tree nuts or coconut on our dessert plates to keep us safe. 6) Bar Service: Yes, the bars are busy with 5,000 people on board expect to wait a bit. We had the easy drink package and the bartenders were VERY generous with their pours. The only bar that was stingy with their pours was the main bar on 5. The bartenders will let you know if what you ordered is or is not in your drink package. 7) The casino was small but very nice. The machines payed well and were awarded a free cruise based on the points accumulated. On other lines you have to pay port fees and taxes if you win a free cruise. Not on MSC, free means free. We were also invited to sail on the Meraviglia’s first cruises in the Caribbean as a casino VIP without cost to us. 8) We bought the 10 photo package before we left and that was worth the money. We were confused when we found our embarkation photos in the room and didn’t see the letter that told us we would be charged if we didn’t return them by Tuesday evening. We easily had those charges reversed. 9) It was so nice to see the rules for adult only areas being enforced. The pool on deck 7 is for 16 and up only. On several occasions the lifeguard told younger children to get out of the pool, much to the irritation of their parents. In the casino there was a family that allowed their 4 or 5 year old to play on a machine and the casino host quickly put the entire family out of the casino. Who lets their 5 year old to gamble in the casino? 10) Embarkation and Debarkation were the smoothest and easiest we have ever had. We were able to get our room keys and security photos taken quickly and onto the ship in a flash. I highly recommend traveling with a passport because they use facial recognition technology for going through customs. We carried off our luggage and were through customs and in our car in record time. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back on a MSC ship in the future. Quick tip, if you have to sign for something you are being charged for it. While in St. Martin, go to the Lazy Lizard for drinks and lunch! Read Less

My family traveled on the Divina 5 years ago and enjoyed it immensely. We cruise a lot and wanted to try a different line so we chose MSC. This time we took 20 guests for our 60th wedding anniversary, 12 of them I paid for myself. We liked the new ship, free drink package, price was good as I booked early. Embarkation was very smooth. disembarkation was a chaos because of waiting on transportation but not the ship's fault. The ship is just beautiful and so many areas to choose from. Entertainment was awesome with aerialists, particularly the Michael Jackson show. Super! Food wasn't the best we have had on ships and varieties were limited and somewhat bland but we aren't ones to complain about things like that. Cheesecake and a nice fish would have been nice each night. The children's areas are fabulous and our two little ones loved it all, particularly Kids Club. We loved everything about the Seaside except the ship did not recognize our 60th anniversary and 20 people in any way. That disappointed me since we were returning guests from 5 years ago. We liked the bars to get your own drinks and not wait on a waiter. No tissues are in the rooms now, had to ask for them. Only 2 washcloths but we had a wonderful room steward. The best part was Melvin, Head Waiter, from Hungary? He was wonderful, funny and danced with me two nights. Read Less

We were in the Mac hatch club, so this experience is very different if you were not in the hatch club. It was a nice, quiet, and fun experience. We had a deluxe sweet on the 18 floor. It was good size and sleeps 5. The yatch club gets butlers, unlimited food, and drink, and gets escorted to shows, dinner, and off the ship. You have a private deck, pool, lounge, restaurant, and bars. Only around 150 other people so it is nice and not crowded. You get a priority elevator which skips all other floors. Also you get priority boarding at each port. Our butler helped so much. And I would recommend getting a cabana on the top deck for 100$. It comes with a cooler filled with any drink, food delivered the whole day, and a nice shaded and private area. The shows are great. (Michael Jackson show is a must, tickets sell fast). For shows the hatch club has private seating in the theater and don’t need to book tickets. But tickets if you are not in yatch club sell fast. Awesome cruise and only way to cruise. Read Less

It took us 2 days to reach Miami as we were coming from Cape Town, South Africa, and it was well worth the trip. I slept 1 night in Miami before the cruise, and did the Topless Bus Tour around Miami Beach. We then boarded the MSC Seaside. We boarded around 14:30 and what a pleasure. We could get straight onto the ship. Our entire experience on this cruise was amazing, we loved it so much. Our balcony room was spacious, and Andrii our room steward was very friendly and always did a wonderful job in our room. I've read many posts about how boring the food is. And I must say, we loved the food. Yes the food isn't for everyones tastes, and they try to accommodate everyone, but for us it was great. You don't have to eat the exact same food all the time, mix it up. I didn't eat the same thing every day. The shows were brilliant in the Theater. However, I didn't enjoy the Silent Disco. Being non-smokers this Silent Disco was held in the pool smoking area, and the people were so spread out around the pool it felt like we were dancing by ourselves. In fact, we couldn't use that pool area at all in the day due to the smokers. The bars were always busy, but no real long queues to complain about. The one pool deck had a very long queue for the bar the one time, so we went to another bar. The Easy Drinks package was not worth our while. The cocktail portion of the menu isn't really cocktails, more Bourbon and Coke, or Vodka and juice. You could have a mocktail and add a tot of vodka, but what a mission everytime. It would have been nicer to have a couple proper cocktails on that menu aswell. We absolutely loved the Dance Classes at 9pm in the lounge. We had so much fun learning the new dances, and the main dance teacher, dont know what his name is, he was brilliant, and so interactive with the guests. He gave us such a workout each night, even our stomach muscles from laughing. We did 3 excursions which we bought through MSC, and that was amazing. We don't have to worry about finding taxis, or organising anything. All we had to do was pitch up at our spot at the time allocated. It was amazing. We would definitely recommend doing this. Our only downside on the Dolphin Swim excursion was the cost of the photos at the end. $120 for our 2 people photos is extremely expensive, since we have to multiply that price by 15 to get it into our local currency. We landed up just getting my dolphin photos for $70 and still almost cried at the price. The excursion itself was already expensive. This put such a huge cloud over the rest of that day for us. I experience terrible motion sickness, yet I did not feel a thing on this ship. I never once had to think of taking a tablet, or even just feel the ship move. I was so impressed with that. Overall, we absolutely loved this holiday. We traveled long and far for it, and a week later still recovering from Jetlag, but was so worth it. We are booked for MSC Orchestra in 8 months, it's a lot smaller and the one we can use that is local for us this next season, but am so looking forward to doing it with all my family. Read Less
