Beautiful old ship

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Nordstjernen

We just sailed our 3rd cruise. This was more up our street so to speak as it was in the High Arctic. MS Nordstjernen was a lovely old ship. We had a cabin towards the aft of the ship no window but private bathroom, wardrobe and plenty of space to what we were expecting. This trip was about the surroundings of where you were sailing and not about Comfort of large entertainment complexes ...

We have travelled with Hurtigruten before (MS Spitsbergen Norwegian coast) but this was sooo much better. We boarded in Reykjavik and it was a little chaotic - a free for all. We were in an Expedition Suite (ME class) which was lovely. Bed was very comfortable, as were the chairs. There was a minibar fridge which was stocked with soft drinks and beers, 4 bottles of wine and jars of nuts. These ...

This cruise was absolutely fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The expeditions were super well organised and extremely interesting. The expedition crew were so knowledgeable, informative, funny and inspiring! Best science lessons I have ever experienced! Field trips are so exciting - for any age! The underwater drone was fascinating especially when looking at shipwrecks and the sea ...

Having travelling with Hurtigruten previously and had an excellent experience, we chose them for the Northern Lights trip. The trip was excellent with different excursions and a a superb expedition team making the whole trip informative, inspiring and interesting. During the visit we managed to see the Northern Lights as well as stunning scenery, whales and other wildlife and go on ...

This is a must do. The combination of landscape, safety, very good and healthy nutrition, calmness and a very interesting expedition and board programs is incredible. The excursions were great. Onboard passing a magnificent landscape and being always the number one customer is incredibly good. You see the fabulous coast line of Norway and pass the polar circle and Nordkapp. The menus and buffets on ...

An incredible experience!

We chose Hurtigruten because we'd never go on a " traditional" cruise. Huge ships, thousands of people, casinos, theatres, dancing, loud music, bingo, posh clothes for dinner is just not us. We do like walking, exploring new places, the natural world, photography. I'm also not keen on flying, so when we found that Hurtigruten now has MS Maud based in Dover, running trips around western ...

A Fantastic Expedition, not a Cruise

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Maud

This was a three week Expedition Voyage into the Arctic and Svalbard. We were most certainly not on a cruise being 'entertained'. It was a voyage of discovery, where every day we learnt something new. The itinerary changed on an almost daily basis, due to the weather, and other external factors. But the expedition team coped well with the frequent need to re-plan landings. Some days we ...

All the services on board, very good ship, cabin ok, dining ok, but impossible because the weather to go to the North Cape. we have known an other way of life with sea and the cold and fishing. People quiet and very clean. All the services at the hour, all excursion very well organized. Very good travel, Hurtigruten is a wonderful company. Wanted to see Northern Lights - Hurtigruten recommended by friends, and YES we did see the lights for several nights. But, be aware, the lights do not look bright green. Often they are no more than white cloud. Only when you photograph the sky do you capture the green colour. It is very exciting when you get your first green images! Polarlys is an expedition boat so has an expedition team ...
