May 2-9, 2023. (I am 70 years old, and my friend was 62 - if that matters)
I choose this riverboat cruise for 3 reasons: Derby, Paddlewheel & Great Steamboat Race (3 Bucket Lists). A friend of mine went with me on the Countess which holds 245 passengers and a great small ship. The food was amazing, the itineraries were great - they even do their own Hop/On Hop Off Buses with local tour ...

I booked my first river cruise on the Lower Mississippi River for March 2023 back in May 2022 on the American Countess. I was concerned about what level of service to expect given the pandemic. I proceeded hoping that things would settle down back towards normal as the embarkation date approached. I am a manual wheelchair user and require an ADA cabin. I knew the number of accommodating cabins ...

Thank you for the feedback and your kind words. We are disappointed to hear that some of the food was at a less than ideal temperature. We will make sure we pass this along to the American...
This cruise goes from Clarkston to Portland. The first excursion we took was the JetBoat Tour of Hell’s Canyon. I have never seen anything like the terrain. We saw BigHorn Sheep, Deer, Turkeys, and a bald Eagle. The river is clear and beautiful.
This cruise was wine themed so we had wine tastings onboard and two dinners with wine pairings. We also did the Red Mountain Vines to Wine ...

We chose this cruise because it was the Star Spangled Banner Cruise from Louisville to Nashville.
We stayed in the complimentary pre-cruise hotel, The Brown, which was elegant. Our room was huge!
The check in process was quick and easy. The crew took care of everything. Our bags were handled with ease. We enjoyed the pre-cruise tour of Louisville, including Churchill Downs. It was ...

Warning: This may be long and a bit rambling, but there are many good things to say about this cruise.
DH and I are in our 70's. This was our fourteenth cruise overall, but our first river cruise. Way back in February 2020, we booked a cruise from Memphis to New Orleans on the American Queen. After 4 cancellations, 3 due to COVID and 1 due to Hurricane Ida, we said forget it. AQV gave us ...

Hello CruisinCadie! Thank you for leaving us a review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your time on the American Countess. We can't wait for you to join us on a Memphis to NOLA cruise!...
This was our first time on AQV. We chose the Memphis to New Orleans Mississippi cruise.
We stayed at the pre-cruise included hotel, the Sheraton Downtown Memphis, which was a nice hotel directly across from the Trolly station. The trolley costs $2 to ride all day. We took the trolley to Beale Street and enjoyed the afternoon.
Breakfast is included as well, so we had a nice buffet ...

We had talked about a Mississippi River cruise for years, and finally decided to do it. The cruise lived up to our expectations and then some!
The pre-cruise process was a little confusing and disorganized, but we appreciated the Covid testing, knowing everyone onboard had tested negative. The Peabody may be a grand old hotel, but the rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller. We were ...

Wonderful 14-day cruise down the Mississippi River for my wife and I.
This was a retirement celebration re-scheduled from the same cruise last year which was cancelled due to Covid.
The pre-cruise hotel in Bloomington, MN was nice and we were able to start getting acquainted with other cruisers. The pre-cruise check-in was smooth and easy. No Covid testing required, just show your ...
July 8-11: Pre-Cruise
First: my wife (“The Missus”) and I had a taste of river cruising almost a decade ago, sailing up the Danube on Ama Waterways. We had a fabulous time. But it’s a PITA to get from the West Coast to Europe. We’ve been on over forty ocean cruises on various cruise lines. We had never sailed the byways of North America. This was our reason to try American Queen. Not so ...
We loved our whole trip. Flew into New Orleans the day before and had a nice stay in the hotel included in the price. Transfers to the boat was very nice and easy. Once on board were meet with snacks and we went to our room. Bags waiting for us. We could not stop at our first location and used that day to cruise up the river to Baton Rouge. We did the hop on hop off bus tour. Drivers were great ...
