Highlights on the high seas

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Emerald Princess

This was the first time we sailed from L.A. to Hawaii. Somewhat of a bucket list experience to cross such a distance. It was 4 days at sea going and 5 days at sea coming back. Two days in each direction were as our captain reported, "a little lumpy". It was not bad, just very slow rocking but we never felt seasick. Loved looking at the sea. Nothing out there, just water and sky, but very ...

We've been on this cruise before, and it is by far the best cruise for pure relaxation. The ship was showing its age a bit, but everything was still nice. The rooms (balcony A317) were roomy, comfortable, and the balcony was great. Our steward, Ricardo Hernandez was beyond great. On the first day, when I met him, I requested ice 2x daily, as well as bathrobes for my wife and I, and this was ...

Too crowded for cruise with mostly sea days

The Only reason I rated this cruise with 4 points rather than a barely average "3" is due to the wonderful enrichment activities developed and run by TikiDave & his wife Alohalei. I was one of the lucky 70 cruisers who got in line early enough on the first day to participate in Dave's progressive ukulele classes throughout the duration of the cruise. Given a loaner uke to keep for the entire ...

For a holiday cruise we chose the Hawaii trip. We enjoyed the ship but it was crowded. Lines were often formed at the coffee shop and restaurants. I don’t like how the Lido Buffett is situated because it’s so congested and crowded and there is no real traffic pattern. The captain was the best! Very congenial and always visible. The entertainment was great and good movies too. We loved the ...

The service was very good and the food was good. Our stateroom was huge and our view was excellent. The ship looks good but needs a refit. Many staterooms had water problems including ours. The elevator buttons wouldn’t always work. The jucuzzi jets didnt work in the solarium area. I love to dance but found the music selection poor plus no singles. I did the hula class which was ...

Merry Christmas & Happy New 2019

Whenever my only child informs me that she won’t be spending Christmas with us, I immediately look for a trip to Hawaii. This is the first time we cruised there. Cruise ship is one we had been on before, and it was leaving from my home city. We had a lovely time. I was on a mission to see the parts of Kauai that can’t be seen by car. Our Christmas gift to each other was a Sunshine Helicopter ...

We are platinum members of Carnival and always love our Carnival cruises. We were told to try Princess so we did this on the Emerald for a 5 day cruise. We got on ship with no problem and straight to our room. We usually get a balcony room, but as it was a short cruise decided to save a bit of money and get inside room. The room was clean, bed super comfortable and our steward kept it clean. We ...

We needed one more cruise to put us into the Elite membership tier for our 30 day South American cruise February 2019, so we added a 5 day Cabo onto our existing 15 day to Hawaii. We were curious how we would like all the sea days. The ship was in fairly good shape considering its age, plenty of places to get away from everyone if you wanted. We never really felt crowded unless there was a big ...

Our First Cruise

This was our first cruise. We had a mini-suite--the bedding was extremely comfortable and our Attendant Alex was perfect. Lots to do, we missed most of the shows. The comedian on the last night was great, the dancing was fun. Buffet was mediocre but got the job done in the mornings. Evening anytime dining was good. We paid extra for Share (Curtis Stone) and it was absolutely worth the extra ...

Background: We did a family trip (6 adults) for thanksgiving. My husband and I have only sailed previously on Disney Cruise Line to the Caribbean, so admittedly have little to offer in terms of comparison. We chose this ship/itinerary because of the length (5 nights) and sail date (over Thanksgiving). The fact that half of the group was in driving distance of LA helped us choose as well. Port: ...
