A Transatlantic cruise is a great way to escape the European winter and be away for Christmas. The seas are nearly always calm and after several crossings we have always enjoyed smaller passenger numbers. That means better service and less hustle and bustle.

This was a slow way to return to S. America and the ports made this a good choice. The ship was fairly full with guests from Spain, Italy, Finland, Russia, Switzerland, Holland, France, Argentina, Germany, Brazil, UK, USA and others. I took notes so I would be more objective. Some of the online criticism I read wasn’t a problem for us. For example, the Jacuzzi’s size, food, and service were good. Friends found cruise at a reasonable price. A group of 8 decided it would be a fun trip.
The written instructions we received after purchase informed us that our luggage must be smaller than allowed by the airline. This was a 29 day trip. We realised it was not a 5 star cruise but value for money. Heading shows 10 day Caribbean but this was a back to back cruise ending up in Venice.
They had a gratuities charge of US$12.50 per day and with 3 passengers in our group for 34 days worked out to be US$1,275 or AUS$1,653. I do not know of many people who will part with Aus$1,653 as a tip.

I have travelled with my husband, we got a "premium cabin" thinking that the amount you pay more than a classic cabin, is worth the expense. We got a cabin right in front of the hot tubs engine room: a constant loud engine whining from 07.00 until 21.00hrs.
