Never again Costa, after 10 Costa cruises the measure is now full. We were not the only ones, heard several people say: never again Costa. What a disappointment: - Embarkation: 6 hours in the heat, no information what was going on, finally your turn, but sent back for mandatory Corona test (no mention at booking or at the entrance for check-in), again to the counter and then again with ...

The Good and the Bad!

I've sailed NCL, Princess and MSC. Like MSC, I didn't go with high expectations based on reviews. The trick is to go with low expectations and then you won't be disappointed! The truth is you can't pay Costa money and expect NCL quality. Value for money wise - I thought it was very good. Good points: Ship facilities (relatively new ship, clean throughout, nothing looked ...

This was a rebooking due to COVID cancellations going back to 2020. The cruise was one of quite a few Costa cruises that we have previously enjoyed. Our booking included a Bus transfer, Flight Transfer and return Flight, Health Insurance, Flight, as well as My Drinks package The bus transfer to Savona was comfortable, uneventful and arrived on time. Boarding was quick, as all formalities ...

Disappointment as quality of food and service is lower than previous Costa cruises

If you are English speaking and want to take shore excursions don't book a cruise in Europe with Costa, Due to the lack of Numbers of English-speaking passengers there are very few excursions that are available, but you don't know that until you are on board and in most cases, you are advised a day or two before. The tours that you may be able to go on are with a guide who speaks at least 2 ...

Beautiful new ship, bad services

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Costa Firenze

I chose this cruise due to the itinerary because I had already done other cruises on the Mediterranean and I didn't want to repeat the same ports. The ship is new and very beautiful. However the pools are small and there are only two jacuzzis. In the cabin (I bought two cabins with a balcony) there is no fridge (first ship I see this!). The food is good, but the company's services are terrible: ...

STAFF SUPER HELPFUL BUT EVERYTHING COST EXTRA (FOR US ENGLISH SPEAKING)

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Costa Firenze

Overall the staff was great and always willing to help and super friendly. The ship was clean and the food was pretty food However, the first time on a cruise we did not know what to expect. Unless you are at the buffet/free restaurant at specified times. Be prepared to pay for everything. Including water by the bottle. I would say to enjoy your time on the ship without having to worry. ...

COVID Management like a Jail

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Costa Deliziosa

The COSTA COVID Activities are far too hard compared with other Cruise companies. Costa guests are NOT allowed to go alone from the board (in other Cruise companies is this allowed). You feel like in jail if you go with COSTA! It is better to wait with cruises with Costa as long as the COVID activities are mandatory. We had to book for every port a costa trip. Even if we would only to go in ...

We boarded the ship in Barcelona and our immediate thought was that the ship was stunning. The staff were excellent and our restaurant waiter Chi was great. Food was of a very high standard in our assigned restaurant. The buffet restaurant, while it had lots of choice, was a revelation.... Lots of queues, people pushing and shoving, over crowded and really not a pleasant experience most of the ...

Love Costa, but not Smeralda

We choose this cruise as we wanted to sample their new flag ship, having cruised twice before on the Diadema, We were at the time able to book a cabin for 5, having done so on the Diadema where we had 1,5 bathrooms and 5 proper beds, we expected the same if not better! Embarkation went really well, and we loved the parking at Savonna. However a few more signs would really help. The cabin ...

Costa Smeralda Not as Expected

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Costa Smeralda

User Avatar

This 3 week old ship was a disappointment compared to Costa Diadema (commenced service 2014) and other older Costa ships I’ve cruised on. The design emphasis was over the top. The furniture for example, whilst I’m sure was deigned by ‘top’ trendy designers, mostly lacked ordinary functionality - uncomfortable, too low, didn’t fit the average person. Some chairs were so heavy you could hardly ...
