We took a cruise to celebrate Spring Break. We departed from Miami Terminal G. Upon first arrival in the terminal, the age and lack of cleanliness were apparently going to foreshadow the remainder of the trip. While everyone in the terminal was very nice, it just was not up to the Celebrity status that we have come accustomed to.
Our first stop was in Key West which did go smoothly. It was ...
Celebrity doesn’t include gratuities in the booking price but you should be aware of their strong pressure tactics to get you to tip what they want you to tip and it is NOT DEPENDENT upon quality of service.
In the old days, you tipped your waiter, room steward, maître d’, etc. based on a the cruise line's recommended amount adjusted for the quality of the service provided you; in other ...
The summit has a great overall look, until you look closely. There were a lot of smaller issues that appeared to have been overlooked, resulting in a not so great overall experience. The food was a highlight, with great food and service in the main dinning room (Cosmopolitan Restaurant). The concierge staff, guest services staff, shop staff, and casino staff were all fantastic. The live music was ...
We chose this ship for 2 reasons. One was because it was our first Celebrity cruise and two, we wanted to visit Key West.
I kept hearing great things about Celebrity, so I figured to give it a try. We’ve been on many different lines, so we had a lot to compare certain things to.
The not so good…
First thing to say is the ship is old and is in need of some attention in many places. Rust is ...
Now that we are both retired, my wife and I have resumed cruising and as part of that we decided to try a few more of the main-stream lines we had not sailed before. We prefer small to medium size ships (about 100,000 GT or less with under 2,000 passengers) and have no interest in megaships. Summit was right on the upper limit of our preferred ship size and passenger capacity.
We found a nice ...
First time Celebrity cruisers (we have traveled 5 times on Disney and 1 on Viking Ocean). This has always been an itinerary we have been interested in and it did not disappoint. It's very much and adult and upscale feel in the rooms and public areas - understated and nice. We have always thought that this would be an adult offering with great food that would really mesh with our tastes ...
I was very interested in the itinerary, the price was reasonable and we liked Celebrity in the past.
The good things.....the crew was wonderful, our stateroom was nice, except the shower didn't drain properly (as someone else mentioned), the evening shows were good but too short, the lectures by the naturalist were excellent and the buffet was good.
The main dining room experience was a ...
I cruise with Celebrity often. Picked this cruise to see Nova Scotia and Canada for eleven day cruise. Itinerary looked good. The food was very good, chef in restaurant did a great job. Wine pored freely was nice. What I found disturbing was the overall condition of the ship. Deep rust in many areas, furniture broken, missing cushions on rear deck by cafe. Asked what’s going on with the ratty ...
Our cruise started off in Reykjavik, Iceland. Much of the info regarding this trip on the internet was wrong. Many writers said that to get from the airport to the center of Reykjavik was difficult. That was wrong. There are buses exclusively for transportation from the airport to the city center at approximately $30 pp. Others said that from the central bus stop to your hotel was an easy walk. ...
We cruised on the Summit in December 2022 and fell in love with the ship. We liked the smaller size, the food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. When we saw she had a sailing to Bermuda in July 2023, we couldn't resist. We wish we had resisted and had chosen a different cruise line.
First of all, the good:
~Embarkation was the easiest of any port we have ever been to. It was ...
