The speakers were outstanding. The waiters and room attendants were excellent, as usual. The ship's cabins are starting to show a bit of aging. I understand that the Solstice is going into dry dock for some updates soon, so maybe that will be addressed. Most of the nightly entertainment in the theater was pretty good--we enjoyed the people they brought in more than their own productions. ...
This was an18 night cruise from Sydney to Hawaii with lots of sea days. We have cruised before on both Princess and Royal Caribbean ships and this was our first with Celebrity. I had read quite a few reviews of the Solstice that were all very good so my expectations were high. Embarkation was smooth and easy and we were soon on the ship. Our stateroom 6162 had partially obstructed view - which ...
We chose this cruise on internet reports that Celebrity Solstice is an upmarket experience in cruising. The cabin was good. The crew were good. The shipboard experience was a let-down. No coin laundry; a debacle in tendering at Bay of Islands where it took us over 3 hours to get on a tender. (Improved in later ports); main Dining Room food was a huge disappointment. Overcooked meals. Many dishes ...
We had to toss up between a Good or Very Good rating - why - mainly because of the Main Dining Room experience of an evening. The service was good however the food was far from acceptable, especially after sailing on RCL's Legend of the Seas in December, which is one of their older ships sailing however had much more appealing food in their Main Dining Room with absolutely no complaints. ...
Celebrity Solstice, 18 night Tahitian Treasures Cruise, October 2 2015
Our decision to take this cruise was based on the glowing reports of the ship Celebrity Solstice. We had some years ago travelled Celebrity Century Sydney Hawaii the reverse to this cruise, and enjoyed the experience greatly.
Our cruise on Solstice was somewhat a disappointment in several ways which I have set out herein. ...
Some background to start- this is my 6th cruise and first on Celebrity.
Things they did well:
Very Clean- toilets were exceptional- they have attendants in them constantly cleaning them- this was great. The ship is nice but nothing exceptional. The room attendants were good, no complaints at all there. The buffet was pretty good but the egg stations ere chaos each morning and they seemed ...
Stayed at the Hilton Hawaiin Village for 7 days prior to cruise -been to Hawaii too many times to mention so just kicked back & relax in lead up to cruise. Shuttle to terminal, drop off bags outside then go through customs, checkin & security, embarkation in Honolulu was an easy process - was less than an hour. Booked a balcony cabin mid ship deck 7 & it was well appointed, plenty of room to move ...
We decided on cruising back home from Honolulu but would not do it again, we had 11 days at sea and apart from Tahiti it was about the only time to swim or sun bake.
We were over welled by the bar prices some drinks nearly double of other cruise lines, and water & coffee or juice laughable. Needless to say we only enjoyed a drink at happy hour where the prices came back to what we normally ...
I first want to say that we sailed on Reflection last year and loved it, had no complaints. We have over 20 cruises under our belt, most on RCI. So when we booked Solstice to Hawaii we were expecting a great cruise. However there were too many things we were not happy with and I doubt I will go back on this ship.
First the food in the dining room was not what we were use to. Many times it ...
My husband and I are in our mid 50's; Celebrity Captain's Club members. !st time on Solstice , but militple times on Equinox, Eclipse and Reflection. This ship was a huge disappointment on so many levels. Lack of service, officer and crew rudeness towards passengers , tendering was a mojor safety issue; the crew was having difficulty leaving passengers with the impression this was their first ...
